About the Mackie Thump18S
Big sound
Big sound
Mackie's already given us their powerful and affordable 12" and 15" Thump Series powered speakers. Now they've added, quite logically, an 18" subwoofer to the line for maximum thumpage. The Thump18S powered sub features a built-in amp that sends up to 1200 watts to the 18" speaker in its ultra-efficient bandpass enclosure, sending out enough low-frequency mojo for just about any application. And the Thump's speaker protection system keeps the amp rockin' through excessive levels or other challenges.
Better boom
The Thump18S brings boom to your room.
The Thump18S isn't just a bigger, louder powered sub. It's been designed to deliver the boom to your room with its precise 140 Hz crossover, while stereo high-pass XLR outputs take the low-end load off your Thump full-range speakers so they'll play louder and cleaner. Its connections also include dual XLR inputs and full-range XLR outputs, and the Thump18S offers easy-to-use level and polarity controls so you can tune the sub to your speaker system perfectly.
Longer-lasting thump
And Mackie hasn't skimped on durability to reach a price point, either. The Thump18S features an all-wood enclosure with their “Built-Like-A-Tank” construction, along with a standard-size pole cup that allows you to mount your smaller speakers above the sub with a mounting pole.

Product Research
Features
18" Woofer: The Mackie Thump18s powered sub's 18" woofer delivers superior output and low-frequency extension with professional low end feel.
1200W (Peak) Ultra-efficient Class-D Fast Recovery Amplification: The Thump18s features Class-D Fast Recovery amplification. Class-D amps are more efficient and lightweight, with far less waste heat produced versus competing designs. Fast Recovery means you can occasionally push into clipping without a ton of nasty distortion.
Rugged Enclosure: The powered sub's solid plywood enclosure with textured black paint offers high durability that can handle the rigors of the road.
Custom Tuned Port: The Thump18s has a custom-tuned ported, bass reflex design that produces tight low-end bass.
Controls: The Thump18s benefits from built-in active electronics, like a precision crossover and tuning filters for accurate bass response. The powered sub features a variable level (+/-6dB_ control, precision crossover (125Hz), and polarity (0/180°) switch
Dual XLR Inputs: The Mackie Thump18s powered subwoofer is fitted with balanced XLR connector for the left and right channel inputs (A/B). Connect the full-range line-level signal from your mixer or other signal source to these inputs jacks. If you are connecting a single subwoofer output or LFE output to the subwoofer, you may use either the A or B input connector. The Thump18s can be used for mono or stereo applications.
Stereo Pass-Thrus: The Thump18s has both full-range and high-pass (125Hz) stereo XLR outputs for connection to full-range top boxes and do daisy-chain multiple subwoofers.
Pole Receptacle/Stackable: The powered sub's integrated pole-cup can accommodate a standard mounting pole, so your full-range speaker has a nice place to sit. Or you can just stack your full-range box directly on top of the Thump18s
Thermal Protection: The Thump18s powered sub is equipped with a thermal protection circuit that monitors the internal temperature of the amplifier and heatsink. If the temperature exceeds a safe operating level, an indicator lights up and the input signal is muted to allow the amplifier to cool. When the temperature cools to a safe level, the thermal protection circuit deactivates and the powered sub returns to normal operation.
Overload LED: The OL (Overload) indicator lights when the amplifier in the Thump18s is near the clipping point. It is ok if the OL indicator blinks occasionally, because this means that the transient peaks are just reaching the maximum output of the amplifier and you're getting the most from the Mackie Thump18s. If the OL indicator is blinking frequently or lighting continuously, turn the level control of the powered subwoofer down until the OL indicators only blinks occasionally or not at all.
