If you're serious about sound, but aren't willing to compromise on style, Sanus Steel Foundation® speaker stands were made for you! Combining form and function, the stands have contoured 10-gauge steel base plates. Two 2" diameter pillars solidly support a steel top plate. Both pillars and top plate feature a handsome black powder-coated finish.

But these stands do more than just look good. The base plate's stable platform decreases energy loss from your speaker, giving you better performance. The pillars minimize diffraction, and can be filled with shot or sand for added mass, and a resonance-damping ring placed between the top plate and the pillars further improves the speaker's sound.

The top plates are equipped with adjustable speaker isolation studs and neoprene isolation pads to further dampen unwanted vibrations. The stands come with the Sanus Foundation Mount® system, so you can easily secure bolt-style speakers to the top plate.

Features

Compatibility: The Sanus Steel Series SF30 is a 30" stand for small-to-medium bookshelf speakers up to 25 lbs. The 6" (w) x 6.5" (d) top plate offers adjustable brass studs and neoprene pads for speaker alignment. Some speakers have a threaded insert in the bottom of the cabinet to accommodate bolt-mounting. These stands have a hole in the center of the top base and include a 5/8" bolt for securely attaching these bolt-mounted speakers to the stands.

Steel Construction: The Sanus Steel Series SF30 features heavy-duty 10-gauge steel construction. The extra-large steel base provides superior stability on practically any surface. The twin heavy-gauge steel pillars can be filled with sand or shot for added mass.

Resonance Damping Rings: The top plates and pillars are separated by self-adhesive cork resonance damping rings. These rings eliminate speaker resonance from passing through the stands causing distortion.

Wire Management: The steel pillars feature a concealed wire path to hide your speaker wire for a clean and neat installation.

Rubber Pads or Spikes: The stands feature plastic feet and have threaded inserts on the bottom that allow you to use the included isolation spikes or rubber feet. The isolation spikes are adjustable and designed for carpeted floors. The rubber pads are safe for hardwood, tile, laminate, and vinyl flooring. The spikes add 1" to the overall height of the speaker stands. The rubber pads add 0.25" to the overall height of the speaker stands.

Note: The isolation spikes are very sharp, and will scratch floors or furniture.

Customer Q&A

Q
Many of the photos show exposed speaker wires. Can wires be hidden within the stand? Some reviewers have stated drilling was necessary. Another that routing depended on how they were put together.

You can route them through the bottom of the speaker platform and would have to drill to have the wires hidden. I use the stands to elevate two psb imagine speakers for my back channels on the surround system. The stands are near the back wall so the wires going to the back are not a problem for me. Good solid stands.

Take a look at the owner manual online. You can run the wires inside the vertical poles when you assemble the stands.
jerome  Sep 25, 2019

Drilling would be needed.
daniel  Sep 24, 2019

Short answer, no. The wires will not hang, but they will still be visible.
edilberto  Sep 24, 2019
A
No, you cannot route wires inside the tubes as they are closed on the top and bottom with the speaker plates and stand. It does come with two wire guides (top / bottom) to keep the exposed speaker wire against the stand. Thank you.

Q
Is it possible to mount a sonos play 5 speaker vertically on this stand?

A
Honestly, I'm yet to unpack these stands and install my Def Tech Surrounds. I actually have a Sonos play 5 in the house, so once i do, i can answer your question.
bradley  May 16, 2019
A
Possible? Yes. Advisable? Probably not. Unless you use an adhesive of some sort, there is no way to fasten the speakers to these stands (altho the stands come with stick-on rubber washers to stabilize each speaker). Could be a problem if there are small children or large pets in your home.
larry  May 16, 2019
A
I am not familiar with the Sonos speakers you reference, but from looking at them on the Crutchfield site I see no reason why you couldn't mount them vertically if you desire. Remember that these stands have no screw or other device to attach the speaker to the stand. The speaker simply sits on 4 rubber isolation tabs on top of the stands. Thus the base (ends) of the speaker must be perfectly flat or you will risk the speaker falling to the floor. Beyond this, you may want to check with Crutchfield to see if there is some other technical reason why these speakers could not be mounted as you describe.

not shure. but I mounted my Klipsch bookshelf to them with small screws by drilling a pilot hole in the bottom of the speaker first. if the sonos are made from wood this works great.
ronald  May 11, 2019
A
I don't know. I have Klipsch speakers. I will say that these are solid stands that look good. Measure the base of your speaker and compare it to the speaker to see if it's a good fit. If you're not sure speak to your Crutchfield rep, they are great.
elliot  May 11, 2019
A
Call Crutchfield, I do not know the size of the Sonos.
