But the TomTom Touch goes an important step further and measures your body composition — the percentage of fat in your weight. Overview: The TomTom Touch Fitness Tracker can help you reach your fitness goals, and give you real-time data on your progress. The Touch can measure your body composition, giving you the percentage of body fat and muscle mass, to indicate your fitness level. It can also measure your heart rate, count your steps, show how many calories you've burned, and measure other aspects of your workout. It can also analyze your sleep. The Touch has an IPX7, splash-proof rating, so you can wear it while you work out, even in the shower. The built-in rechargeable battery gives you enough power for five days of activity tracking. This version of the Touch is designed for large wrists, with a circumference of 5.5" to 8.1".
Touchscreen Display: The Touch has a bright touchscreen display that is easy to read. You can swipe up to open screens for Steps, Calories Burned, Distance, Active Time, and Sleep duration. Swiping down opens the Sports Mode, Body Composition, and Heart Rate functions.
Heart Rate Sensor: The heart rate sensor is located on the back of the watch, so when you wear the device, the sensor touches your skin. The sensor shines light through the skin and onto the capillaries, and detects the changes in light reflection to measure your heart rate.
Steps: If you set a goal to take a specified number of steps per day or week, the Touch can help you keep track of them. Using the motion of your wrists, the device counts your steps as you walk or run. You can set a goal for total number of steps in the MySports app. The number of steps resets at midnight each day.
Sports Mode: While you work out, the Sports Mode can measure time, heart rate, or calories burned (based on your heart rate). You can upload your results to the MySports app, or the MySports website, to keep track of all your activities over time. The Touch cannot be used for swimming or water sports.
Sleep Tracking: You can use the Touch to track how much sleep you're getting. The device measures sleep based on motion, assuming that if you're not moving, you are asleep. The daily sleep tracking resets at 4:00pm each day, and starts counting a new night at that point. The device will calculate the amount of sleep you get per day, week, month, or year.
Wireless Syncing: The TomTom Touch can wirelessly sync to your iOS or Android smart device for uploading your activity data and to receive notifications and automatic software updates. The Touch uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to communicate with your mobile device. The MySports mobile app and the MySports Connect website for your laptop or desk computer help you to set and adjust goals, set plans for your workouts, and share your results with your friends on social media.
Notifications: The Touch will vibrate to notify you when you get a phone call or text on your smartphone. An icon will appear to show you that you have a call or text. You can swipe down the display to dismiss the notification.
Battery: The Touch is powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Polymer battery. The display will indicate the remaining battery charge with a segmented battery icon (0 bars to 4 bars). Typical battery life is 5 days. The battery can be charged by USB using the included charging cable. A complete charge takes approximately an hour. You can charge it up to 90% in 40 minutes.
