Meridian Prime Power Supply
Power supply upgrade for Meridian Prime headphone amplifier/DAC
Our take on the Meridian Prime Power Supply by Crutchfield's Dave Bar
Feed your Meridian Prime the clean power it deserves
If you own Meridian's Prime headphone amplifier/DAC, this matching silver module is a must-have. Stacked neatly beneath your headphone amp, the Meridian Prime Power Supply replaces the standard AC wall-wart adapter to provide highly regulated, ultra-low noise 12-volt power to the Prime's amplifier circuitry. You'll hear tighter, more defined bass, fuller sounding vocals with added "body" and presence, and a greater sense of sonic realism. The Meridian Power Supply's USB jack with audio pass-through also delivers pristine, 5 volt USB power to the Prime's digital circuitry for enhanced computer audio performance. And along with driving the Prime headphone amp, the Power Supply's rear-panel 12-volt jacks can power up to four additional low-voltage audio components.
- high-performance power supply for Meridian Prime headphone amplifier/DAC
- regulated power for 12-volt and 5-volt USB outputs provides stable, ultra-low noise operation
- USB (type-B) input and USB (type-A) output with audio pass-through
- rear-panel output jacks can power up to five low-voltage (12-volt) audio components simultaneously
- matches Meridian's Prime Headphone Amplifier/DAC chassis perfectly for stacking
- 6-5/16"W x 2-1/16"H x 7-3/4"D
- warranty: 2 years
- Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Compatibility: The Meridian Prime Power Supply can be used to power a range of Meridian products; including the Meridian Prime Headphone Amplifier, Audio Core 200, Meridian Director, Media Source 200, and Meridian Explorer (all sold separately). The power supply matches Meridian's Prime Headphone Amplifier/DAC chassis for perfect stacking. The addition of the Prime Power Supply to these components provides an enhancement in their performance.
Highly-Regulated Power Supply: The Prime Power Supply incorporates a special low-noise, highly regulated linear power supply to help deliver the highest possible audio performance to your Meridian components and connected gear. At the heart of the Prime Power Supply is a hand-assembled true toroidal transformer; a high-mass, low-profile, low magnetic field design. In addition to its integral magnetic shield, it's mounted on a metal plate to shield electronics from noise.
Multi-Stage Regulators: Each output on the Prime Power Supply includes multi-stage regulation using a total of six extremely low-noise linear regulators. Both the 12V and 5V USB outputs include pre-regulators prior to the output regulators. Even though the 12V outputs are rated at just 500mA, they utilize heavily over specified 5A linear regulators, selected by a rigorous evaluation process, including extensive listening tests.
USB Input/Output: The Meridian Prime Power Supply is fitted with a USB (type-B) input which connects to the USB output of your computer or PC, using a USB-A to USB-B cable (sold separately). The power supply's USB (type-A) output connects to the Meridian Prime Headphone Amplifier, using the included USB-A to mini-USB cable. The USB input/output features a new high-efficiency low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator design that features less than 5μVrms output noise in the range of 10-100kHz.
12V Power Outputs: Up to five Meridian products, using Meridian Prime power leads (one included) can be connected to the power supply.
6' AC Power Cord: The Meridian Power Supply includes a detachable IEC 3-prong AC power cord.

Why did you buy this?
I've been familiar with Meridian for years. I also have an old Musical Fidelity X-Can amp that was much livelier and punchier with an aftermarket power supply. [ Zack Nov 27, 2016 ]
