World-class optical performance

Nikon's world-renowned optics help this lens deliver razor-sharp images. A multi-coating on the lens minimizes flare and ghosting. And Nikon's built-in Silent Wave Motor makes autofocus very fast and nearly silent. The lens has built-in vibration reduction, too. Built-in motion sensors steer a special set of optical elements inside the lens, neatly compensating for camera movement and stabilizing the image. You get much sharper pictures — even in low-light conditions where slower shutter speeds and hand motion can easily cause blurred images with a regular lens.

Features

Product Overview: The Nikon AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED is compatible with Nikon film and digital SLR cameras. The focal length is fixed at 105mm, but can be used for macro shots as close as 12 inches, resulting in a 1:1 magnification ratio.

ED Glass: The Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass element minimizes chromatic aberration.

Nano Crystal Coat: The exclusive Nano Crystal Coating further reduces ghosting and flare for even greater image clarity.

Built-in CPU: The lens has a built-in CPU which allows it to communicate with the camera body for focus and exposure functions. A set of CPU contacts is located on the lens mount for interfacing with the camera body.

Auto Focus: Internal Focus (IF) provides fast and quiet autofocusing without changing the length of the lens, retaining subject-working distance through the focus range. Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) enables ultra-high-speed autofocusing with exceptional accuracy and super-quiet operation. The manual/auto focus mode switch allows quick response to situations requiring manual focus operation.

Focus Range Limit: If your subject is always more than 20 inches away, a switch allows you to fix the focus range at 0.5m-infinity to reduce focusing time (for AF cameras compatible with AF-S Nikkor lenses only).

Vibration Reduction (VR II): Vibration reduction minimizes the effects of camera shake allowing you to shoot handheld at as many as 4 shutter speed stops slower than would otherwise be possible, assuring dramatically sharper images. You can turn vibration reduction on or off with the switch on the side of the lens.

Aperture: Because there is no aperture ring on this lens, the aperture must be set on the camera.

Diaphragm: The lens is equipped with a fully-automatic, 9-blade diaphragm that produces a nearly circular aperture. Out-of-focus images in front of or behind the subject are rendered as pleasing blurs.

Optional Accessories: Compatible optional accessories include 62mm screw-on filters and AF-S Teleconverters.

Made in China. I bought the lense new. No issues with any products I've bought thru Crutchfield. Hope this helps. Just make sure the warranty is for USA.

I purchased new, made in China, but I've used it quite a bit in close up work and have not had any issues. It's a great lens for Macro work, since the working distance is increased and you can get some light into the image area and still get close in.

Hi, the first on I got from Crutchfield was an returned lens from their outlet. I returned it because of a very small spot on the lens. They sent me a new one to replace it. It was made in China. I hope this helps. "JB"
