Cortana App: Download the free Cortana app onto your Apple iOS 9.0+ or Android OS 4.4+ device to connect the Invoke speaker to your home's WiFi network, create or log-in to your Microsoft Account (MSA), setup Cortana, and link your Outlook calendar and compatible music services. This can also be done using the Cortana app on a Windows 10 PC (with the Windows 10 Creator's update). Cortana is available to you through these multiple devices - including the H/K Invoke speaker, your Windows 10 PC, and your iPhone or Android smartphone.
Note: You can only sign in with a personal Microsoft account, but you can link a work or school account in the Cortana app.
Cortana Digital Assistant: At the heart of Invoke is Cortana, your very own personal digital assistant that keeps you focused and informed throughout your day. Get answers to questions, check the latest news and weather, create reminders and lists, queue up your music and more. Cortana is always learning, so the more you ask it to do, the better it'll be able to help you with the things that matter most. Whenever you need something, just say, "Hey Cortana", and then ask your question. The top of the device will light up to indicate that Cortana heard you. Some of the things Cortana can help you with include -

Queue up your favorite playlists; search by song, artist, album or genre; turn the volume up or down; stop and start tracks - all with the sound of your voice.
Note: To play music from Spotify you need a premium account. Others services may require account setup or subscription.
Skype Calling: Stay connected with Skype calling to mobile phones, landlines, and any Skype-enabled device. Skype to Skype calls are free, and for a limited time there is a free calling promotion to mobile or landlines in US, Mexico and Canada through a Skype Subscription. You can call out using Skype or accept an incoming Skype call. To accept an incoming call, you will need to set up a Skype Number (click here to learn how). Here is who you can call using Skype -
- Your Skype Contacts: These are people who you've connected with on Skype before, or phone numbers you've saved as a contact in Skype.
- Your Smartphone Contacts: These are the people and numbers you've saved in your iPhone or Android smartphone's address book. You'll need to give Cortana permission to sync the contacts from your phone in order to call these contacts. Generally, Skype Credit or Subscription will be needed to make this type of call, but currently there is an offer for a limited time promotion that allows free calling to certain destinations.
- Phone Numbers: You can ask Cortana to call any phone number you recite. Generally, Skype Credit or Subscription will be needed to make this type of call, but currently there is an offer for a limited time promotion that allows free calling to certain destinations.
- Local Places: Ask Cortana to call any local place. You can ask by the place's name, or look it up and then ask Cortana to call. Generally, Skype Credit or Subscription will be needed to make this type of call, but currently there is an offer for a limited time promotion that allows free calling to certain destinations.
Notes: Invoke with Cortana is unable to make emergency phone calls using Skype. Currently Invoke with Cortana doesn't support making outbound calls to groups from the speaker. However, if you're part of a group that calls you, your speaker will ring and you can pick up that call. At this time, interacting with IVR systems by taking actions such as pressing letters or numbers during a call is not supported.
Smart Home Control: Select smart home devices (including lights, thermostats, and more) from Philips Hue, Nest, Insteon, Samsung SmartThings, and Wink are easily controlled using only your voice & Cortana. With a simple voice command, Cortana can dim the lights, adjust the thermostat, and more.
Set & Receive Reminders: Invoke with Cortana intelligently works with your Outlook calendar to set & receive reminders. With Cortana connected to your Outlook calendar, it can use location and traffic data to notify you when you need to leave for an appointment. You can also ask it for a preview of the day ahead as you get ready in the morning, or to add items to a shopping list. Cortana will even alert you when you're double-booked and help you reschedule appointments, keeping your calendar organized and worries off your plate. When you add a new event or reminder to your Outlook calendar, Cortana makes sure it's on all your devices (including the Invoke speaker, your Windows PC, your and iPhone or Android smartphone running the Cortana app) - keeping you effortlessly up-to-date throughout the day.
Hands-Free Email (Coming Soon): Cortana can help you stay on top of your Email inbox (Office365, Outlook.com, and Gmail compatible).
