Add-on Bluetooth Adapter: The Harman/Kardon BTA10 external Bluetooth adapter lets you add Bluetooth wireless audio streaming to your existing home entertainment system. Your system simply needs a free auxiliary or audio input. Now you'll be able to wirelessly stream audio from your Bluetooth-enabled device to your home audio system.

Wireless Audio Streaming: The Harman/Kardon BTA10 features Bluetooth A2DP technology, which allows you to wirelessly stream audio from your Bluetooth-enabled device to your home entertainment system. You'll be able to stream stored music and music apps on your Bluetooth-enabled device to your home stereo system. Compatible Bluetooth-enabled devices include Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablets, Blackberry, Windows PC, Mac computers, and more. You will continue to control your music and view song/artist information from your Bluetooth-enabled device.

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the H/K BTA10.

Harman TrueStream Technology: Harman TrueStream is H/K's guarantee that you will experience the best possible listening experience when streaming wirelessly via Bluetooth technology. Because there are many connectivity options when it comes to Bluetooth technology, Harman/Kardon engineers always use the most current and most advanced method. This process ensures the highest quality sound no matter the application or source device.

Analog Audio Output: The Harman/Kardon BTA10 Bluetooth adapter is fitted with a single stereo minijack (3.5mm) output which allows it to connect to your home AV receiver's auxiliary or audio input. A 59" stereo minijack cable and a 59" stereo minijack-to-RCA cable are provided.

AC Power Adapter: The Harman/Kardon BTA10 operates off of standard household current using the supplied external AC power supply (input: 100-240V; output: 5.0V/400mA).

I'm not sure as I don't have a portable turntable. But, if you are currently able to plug in an iPod or iPhone to play through your turntable, then this will most likely work. I hope that helps. [ Timothy Riley  Nov 01, 2018 ]
Sorry no idea whether it'll work with Bose speaker. Works like a champ with old school components. Currently playin music through 70s Altec Santana speakers with 90 Sony components as well as newer Yamaha CD recorder/player [ Mark  Oct 23, 2018 ]
No...this is a Bluetooth receiver. It cannot send a signal out to anything. [ TIMOTHY L  Oct 14, 2018 ]
I'm not sure it works that way. I've only used it to stream audio from my phone to a receiver. I'd recommend searching the manufacturers website. It worked great for my purpose. [ Michael  Oct 13, 2018 ]
If you can listen to music through your headphones now, I don't see why it wouldn't work. You're going to need a small audio cable, don't remember if it comes with one. It does come with a cable with din plugs which is what I use to hook it up to my home stereo. Hope this helps. [ James  Oct 12, 2018 ]

It should in theory. It's designed for home use but if you can modify the power supply, pairing it with various Bluetooth devices is a snap. [ Edward  Aug 29, 2018 ]
This unit is slmply a Bluetooth receiver that will pick up a signal from your phone or iPod and play music through whatever you connect plot to [ James  Aug 24, 2018 ]
I don't think so. It receives Bluetooth signals from your devices and plays them through your stereo like a turntable or tape deck would. [ TIMOTHY L  Aug 22, 2018 ]

You plug it in to an available RCA input jack on your receiver and a 110v. Easy peasy, works like a charm. [ Mike  Aug 01, 2018 ]
Hi Chris, I purchase an HK Bta-10 and you treat it just as if it were a CD player and hook it up to RCA inputs. Then you Bluetooth phone will seek out making the connection so you can stream music. You control the volume at the stereo or the phone. You may have to go to the Bluetooth connection on your phone after you begin the streaming to initiate the phone to look for the signal from the HK. [ Steven  Jul 22, 2018 ]
The Harmon Kardon BTA is made for older units without Bluetooth capabilities. It is extremely easy to hook up. You simply plug in the supplied cords to an unused output on your receiver and plug in a power cord. I actually use on an older Onkyo receiver myself. Definitely worth the money as opposed to buying a new receiver. [ James  Jul 22, 2018 ]

The Harman Kardon unit has a hard wired connection to your stereo- line in right/left. It purpose is to provide a blue tooth link between your smart phone and stereo. I have 2 of the units, they both work great. [ Clockdoc  Jul 22, 2018 ]
Where is the signal coming from?I use mine to send music from an I-Mac to a Parasound AV processor, works great. The strength of the signal through the wall is going to be the question.I am old and electronically challenged but I believe this is basically justWi Fi type signal.I think it will do fine. Joe Watson [ joseph  Jul 12, 2018 ]
I have purchased 2 units and they work extremely well, but inside my home. They are plugged in to standard 110 volt AC electrical outlets. So you would need to have 110 volt AC converter in your car - don't believe the unit works on 12 volt found in most cars. [ MICHAEL W  Jul 09, 2018 ]
No [ Roy  Jul 09, 2018 ]

No. The blue light is on periodically when the stereo is turned off. If your stereo has a switched plug, then this will ease lack of automation. [ GEORGE W  May 01, 2018 ]

Yeah this is a pretty sweet add on to my old style hk avr 635. It sits in the background and allows iphones to hook in and play through the system. [ CHRISTIE  May 01, 2018 ]
No. Unless you leave it on all the time, which I don't recommend,it won't auto on when you play say Pandora from your devices. I use mine with my iPhone or iPad. Go to settings, press on Bluetooth, press on HK bta 10 and it turns immediately on. I have 2 and they both work perfectly. [ Lawrence  Apr 30, 2018 ]

There is no power switch, it is active any time that it is provided with power. [ Clockdoc  Apr 30, 2018 ]
Yes. I plug mine into a switched outlet on the back of my receiver. So when i hit the comes on. [ Richard  Apr 30, 2018 ]
Yes I'm my case it does because I have it plugged into the back of my stereo receiver which provides power when turned on. Many receivers have that option. I am sure it is always on, similar to a cable tv box, if you plug in the unit directly to a wall receptacle. [ James  Apr 30, 2018 ]
They do. [ Stanley  Apr 30, 2018 ]
Plug the Audio Out cable from the HK BTA10 into the Aux In of your stero or TV. Turn on the Bluetooth mode and connect your devices - you should be good to go. When not needed just turn the Bluetooth off [ VICTOR R  Apr 09, 2018 ]
BSmart, I'm not quite sure that I understand your intent with this device, however, I can tell you how I use the HK BTA-10. The device allows my stereo receiver to be controlled (volume, track, playlist, etc) with my smart phone. It connects to my receiver via a red & white RCA type jack into the AUX inputs on the back of the receiver. I would imagine that it could be connected to any of the other unused functions as well. There is also a separate cable and adapter for power. None of the connections for this device connect to the headphone jack in my application. In respect to your speaker question, I don't think that type of application is the intent of this device. Further, your smart-TV most likely is already Bluetooth enabled, allowing you to listen via your favorite headphones with a wireless connection. Hopefully my comments have given you some insight into this product. Good Luck, JD [ JEFF  Apr 08, 2018 ]
May mute your speakers with pluged on jack.try it . [ thomas  Apr 07, 2018 ]
I use two of these on two different receivers. I'm not aware that these work plugged into a headphone jack. The headphone jack is an output jack, the BTA 10 needs to be plugged into a input jack like the input for a CD player into a receiver. [ Ken  Apr 07, 2018 ]

Enter an answer You should use any device with 3ml auxiliary output (cable included) or RCA to connect the harman kardon bta 10 and use it as a bluetooh with a phone or tablet to communicate and listen to its speakers. The harman kardon bta 10 must always be connected to a power source. this question. [ HARRY RUIZ  Mar 15, 2018 ]
You need a receiver but it doesn't work that good [ CARL T  Mar 15, 2018 ]
It is necessary to connect this unit to a receiver or amplifier. It serves as a signal source to allow streaming. From your smartphone, but by itself provides no amplification. [ Clockdoc  Mar 15, 2018 ]
I'm thinking it will but you need an audio input and a source for AC power like a 15 amp inverter. [ Geza  Mar 01, 2018 ]
IfIfyou have a din input in your radio, you can use it. You also need a power supply for it. Don't know if it is 12 volts or not. [ Tem  Mar 01, 2018 ]
I am not familiar with BSR speakers. I used my BTA on my amp to stream music into the amp and out the speakers. [ JAMES  Feb 09, 2018 ]
I have purchased two of these units and have been well served by them. I use them in each location to take a blue tooth audio signal into (separate) stereo receivers. The signal sources in respective locations are a Windows desktop computer (upstairs) and a Macbook Pro laptop downstairs. The unit stands alone but has a power cord with a small transformer, receives AC and operates on DC from the transformer. Cables are provided with the unit. The audio out to the receivers is a ministereo jack at the unit and RCA left and right for the receiver end, probably six feet, perhaps a bit less. In each location, I decided in favor of the HK BTA-10 and against higher fidelity speakers for each computer, reasoning that I had already invested in good speaker quality for each receiver. Upstairs, all computer generated audio is heard through my bookshelf speakers; downstairs, likewise, all audio from the laptop goes through our Polk Audio floor-standing speakers. Do pay attention to the proximity of the device to the blue tooth source (closer is better), and do make sure your source, if a computer, is capable of generating a bluetooth signal. My Macbook came with bluetooth installed, but with the older PC I had to obtain a USB plug in, but both of the HK units work well, and deliver stereo input to the receiver. [ Joe  Feb 09, 2018 ]
it will work. this is a great connector [ paul  Feb 09, 2018 ]
It works great hooked up to my regular amplifier. I use my phone to blue tooth sirius to my amplifier. It only receives! [ Tem  Dec 26, 2017 ]
Sorry, I do not know the answer to this question [ JAMES  Dec 11, 2017 ]
Yes [ Anth.  Dec 11, 2017 ]
Not sure what you are specifically asking but think of the harmon kardon as a device which makes a wired system wireless. In other words, you can use a bluetooth device such as a smart phone and play music over a wired device such as an non-Bluetooth amplifier by using the amps RCA jacks. [ Michael  Dec 11, 2017 ]
Not speakers. H/K BTA-10 might help your old Onkyo with Bluetooth devices. [ Juan  Oct 09, 2017 ]
Not sure of your exact set up but the harmon kardon will work through your old onkyo amp as long as you have rca inputs on the back of it. I then assume this onkyo amp is hooked up to speakers throughout your house which I assumed are connected by wires to the onkyo since you said it was old. This would then allow you to play music via Bluetooth from your phone or like device through the onkyo into the speakers. Hope this answers your question - thanks. [ Michael  Oct 09, 2017 ]
I bought this one because it was a good match for my receiver (older Sony). I am not familiar with those that only cost $20 [ JAMES  Sep 15, 2017 ]
I don't know if I can answer your question, but I have two of these devices, one for upstairs and one for downstairs, respectively, stereo receivers. Downstairs we connect to a Yamaha receiver I've had for years, getting true stereo for streamed music, radio and video from the (Apple laptop) computer. Upstairs, I equipped a a Windows PC desktop with a $25 blue tooth adapter as that computer did not otherwise send a bluetooth signal, again using the HK blue tooth to take a stereo signal into a Panasonic receiver. Both the HK units have worked well, and as long as you are not pushing them to the end of their range of distance from the blue tooth signal source (not more than thirty feet), the HK units do just fine. I don't know if less expensive units from other makers were available when I purchased (about six months apart), but the units have worked without a hitch and the sound quality is very good to excellent. [ Joe  Sep 11, 2017 ]
Sure you can pair any phone to anyone one at a time, you can even name them what you want in settings on your phone. [ ROCCO`S AUTO  Aug 29, 2017 ]
Yes, but your device connecting ( phone, Ipad etc,) will only connect to one at a time. [ Matthew  Aug 29, 2017 ]
I'm using 2, and they show up on blue tooth as two wirel as items with the same name: HK BTA10. They are far apart enough that the BT connects to the correct one. [ Timothy  Aug 29, 2017 ]
If they were on separate tuners and they were out of range from each other otherwise no [ ROBERT G  Aug 29, 2017 ]
I have no idea if this will work. I plugged it into my Stereo System in my home and stream music from my phone throughout my home. I thought the echo already did that though... [ Pete  Jul 18, 2017 ]
My HK BTA receives wireless signals from a Bluetooth device and sends the signals out via cable to an "audio in" jack of my audio system, which sends them out the "audio out" jack through wires to speakers. HK BTA does not appear capable of changing a signal from a projector "audio out" jack into a wireless transmission to the Echo, which is what your application requires. Maybe Crutchfield has something for that. [ mary  Jul 17, 2017 ]
That scenario sounds like it would be opposite use of this product, it is designed to give you a Bluetooth input for non equipped stereos, you need a Bluetooth transmitter, this is a receiver. [ ROCCO`S AUTO  Jul 17, 2017 ]
I am not certain how you are setting this up but you will need an audio in jack for the BTA 10 to connect and act as the Bluetooth for the non-Bluetooth unit. So if the echo doesn't have the audio in connection the BTA 10 is not going to work. [ Michael  Jul 17, 2017 ]

If you're sound sticks have an auxiliary input jack, then I would say yes. The HK picks up my Galaxy S5 from 20 ft away. [ BRETT  Feb 11, 2017 ]
Theresa, I have not used this B/T device with headphones. I can tell you it works well with our Ipad streaming music well over 20 feet. I am very pleased with the performance. [ JAMES  Feb 07, 2017 ]
I have had good success with the BTA 10, which I use to play music and internet streaming radio from my ipad into my bedroom receiver/speakers. The distance is probably just about 20 feet from ipad to the BTA 10, possibly a couple of feet less, and the volume level is compatible, although perhaps just a tad less than, what I get with the same receiver volume set when I play the receiver's radio or a cd player. I also have lots of "headroom" to increase the receiver's volume setting, but for my purposes, so far, haven't yet needed to do that. Only quirk I've noticed is that when I back up the ipad, I have to re-pair the BTA 10 with the ipad, and on two occasions, I've had to unplug and replug in the BTA to enable the pairing to occur. Other than that quirk, I've been well satisfied with the unit, and just ordered a second one for my downstairs receiver/speakers, so I can play music and stream radio and online video to the downstairs speakers from a dedicated mac laptop, allowing me to dispense with a wire connection from the laptop to the auxiliary input on the receiver. I hope that is helpful to your decision making. [ Joe  Feb 06, 2017 ]
It depends on the head phones, I would buy a wireless expander to help in the house. [ BLAINE  Feb 06, 2017 ]
I have not had that problem with this device. Note that it can only connect with one device at a time. And the range is not as strong as some of my other devices. But it works well within 20 feet or so. [ Scott  Jan 16, 2017 ]
Yes I believe it will, but you can always go into your phone settings and tell it to forget the BTA 10. That should keep it from trying to connect until you tell it to. [ Dan  Jan 16, 2017 ]
Hello, I guess by HQ you mean High Quality, The answer is no because of the nature of the bluetooth technology, a wifi device will give you a higher quality sound rather than bluetooth. The device work quite well though I have not complained about it. [ Jaime  Jan 11, 2017 ]
This is a good product for older devices that does not have blue tooth. I use it for streaming music from my smart phone to this device that hook directly to a receiver. [ Tony  Jan 10, 2017 ]
Well im going to presume the HQ means high quality if so yes the streaming quality is exceptional however you will get best results if the streaming device is in the same room no more than about 10 feet. I have another friend that has the same device and no complaints I would recommend you give it a try I've had mines 3 years now. [ DEVON  Jan 10, 2017 ]

i use this to connect my bluetooth phone music to my audio system which is goes through the analog source of my audio system. So i don't forsee any problems with connecting the tv source to your headphones via this bluetooth adapter. i believe the hk bta 10 also comes with the correct wires for a connection between the actually device and your tv but you may want to make sure in case you need to order a different set of cables. This device uses Bluetooth. You will be able to send audio from your Macbook to to the A/V receiver with this using the built in Bluetooth on the computer. If you prefer to add AirPlay, then your best bet may be to get an AppleTV. This would allow you to quickly and easily add AirPlay to your existing system. You can find out more about the AppleTV here: [ Jeff  Aug 31, 2015 ]  Staff

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: This won't work to send out a signal to wireless speakers. This is meant to turn an older receiver (with RCA inputs) in to a bluetooth capable device so you can stream audio to it from your tablet or smart phone. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Jul 07, 2014 ]  Staff
