Our take on the Crutchfield Banana Plugs by Crutchfield's Steve Kindig
We like banana connectors — especially for the space-challenged rear panels of A/V receivers. These connectors use a set-screw design that provides reliably easy and secure speaker wire termination. If your receiver, amplifier, or speakers have banana-compatible binding posts, these connectors are a low-cost way to plug in.
- provides an easy and secure connection between your 16- or 14-gauge speaker wire and your banana-compatible speakers, receiver, or amplifier
- a set-screw secures your speaker wire to the banana connector
- 24k gold-plated contacts resist corrosion
- red and black Crutchfield logos to identify positive and negative
- warranty: 1 year
- Our 60-day money-back guarantee
What's in the Box:
- 2 Banana plugs
Installation was easy enough (needs a small "eyeglass" flat head screw driver - secure both screws). Makes a great connection.

Crutchfield Banana Plugs: The Crutchfield banana plug connectors provide an easy and secure connection between your 16 or 14 gauge speaker wire and your loudspeakers, receiver, or amplifier. Set-screws secure your speaker wire to the banana plug connector (strip your speaker wire 0.5"). Each Crutchfield banana plug connector features a gold-plated single-banana jack which easily plugs into the binding post terminals of your loudspeakers, receiver, or amplifier. The barrel of each connector has a red or black "Crutchfield" logo to identify positive and negative.
- Connector Diameter: 0.215"
- Barrel Diameter: 0.425"
- Overall Length: 1.805"
Note: Available in a 2, 10, or 20 pack.
Installation Instructions: Twist the banana plug connector clockwise to loosen the connector from the barrel. Slide the connector down through the barrel until it comes out and then loosen the set-screw. Strip your 16 or 14 gauge speaker back 0.5" and insert it up through the hollow end of the banana connector. Tighten the set-screw onto the inserted speaker wire and slide the banana connector back through barrel. Twist the banana connector counter-clockwise to tighten the assembly and plug the banana connector into the binding-post terminal of your speakers, receiver, or amplifier.

Having wired multiple receivers multiple times, I figured this would be immensely more convenient when addressing the speaker side of things. It'll also make chasing down any audio gremlins much less of a shot in the dark; if you know you have a solid connection to the plug and the plug is firmly in, then you should have sound. I am a fan of lower-cost house brands for everything I buy; so, I drive a Dodge truck, not a Toyota. Crutchfield has done us all a favor by manufacturing banana plugs under their own name and making them available for a reasonable price. Diagnosed a bad speaker wire: the set-screw design make these plugs re-useable. [ Jeff Apr 01, 2018 ]
