Class D Amplifier: The enclosure contains a built-in 250-watt Class D (digital) amplifier that allows RCA or speaker-level input. The amplifier is highly efficient and designed specifically for use with the subwoofer in the enclosure.

Built-in Low-pass Filter: The low-pass filter frequency can be varied from 50 to 150 Hz for a seamless transition between the output of this unit and that of the other speakers in the vehicle.

External Bass Control: The external bass control allows you to adjust the bass level from anywhere in the vehicle.

Auto Turn-On Feature: When the speaker level inputs are used, the system will automatically turn on and off with the radio.

Will this require the head unit to be replaced?

No, you can use your old head unit. However, I have a problem with the auto on/off switch. I wired it as directed, but it never worked (sub never powered up). So I tired wiring it to a cigarette lighter, thinking that would automatically come on and off with the ignition, but now I have the opposite problem (sub never shuts off, which drains the battery if I leave it sitting for 3 days or more).

Depends on the head unit. If you have a factory radio most likely will need to be replaced unless the factory radio has subwoofer outputs (red and white rca jacks). If the factory radio does not have outputs, you can get a converter (like this one-Kicker KISLOC 2-Channel K-Series Speaker Cable to RCA Adapter with Line Out Converter - search title on Amazon) and splice into an existing speaker wire to provide the signal to the sub. If aftermarket radio, most likely has a sub output that you can connect via rca cable

Does this box require modification to the jack storage that is under the rear seat, driver's side?

No modifications are required. The only thing I had to do was anchor the box to the floor cause I have a rubber floor. Without doing so it slid around a little. This sub really hits hard in my super crew. I also added 4 new door speakers and a head unit.
