About the Sennheiser HD 569

Jeff Miller

A sound choice

What do you look for in a set of on-the-go over-ear headphones? If you don't need a lot of bells and whistles, and really just need something that feels nice and sounds good — consider the Sennheiser HD 569 closed-backs. When I spoke to Sennheiser's legendary headphone designer Axel Grell, he told me that the company uses their super-premium models to inform the design of all of their headphones. So when you connect these HD 569 headphones to your phone (or better yet, a portable headphone amp like the Audioquest Dragonfly v1.5 black), you'll enjoy that signature Sennheiser sound — wide soundstage, detailed mids, smooth highs. Also, the generous earpads make a nice, comfortable seal, so sound doesn't leak out, and bass gets extra emphasis.

Product highlights:

  • over-the-ear, closed-back design helps seal out external sounds and reinforce bass
  • 38mm drivers tuned to deliver deep bass
    • Sennheiser's "Ergonomic Acoustic Refinement" (E.A.R.) design sends audio signals directly to your ears
  • padded headband and large, soft microfiber earcups

Features

Overview: The new Sennheiser HD 5 series of headphones feature a contemporary design with a soft, padded headband and ear cups. Featuring Sennheiser's proprietary transducer technology and E.A.R. (Ergonomic Acoustic Refinement) design, the HD 5 series headphones deliver excellent sound quality from your smart device or home stereo system. The HD 569 model comes with two interchangeable cables: a 10' cable with a 1/4" (6.3mm) plug for your home stereo, and a 51" cable with an in-line remote/mic and 3.5mm straight plug for your portables.

Closed Back Design: The HD 569 headphones feature a sound-isolating, closed back design that keeps ambient sound from spoiling your listening experience, while at the same time, keeping the music inside your headphones so it won't disturb others. Sennheiser's E.A.R. technology directs the sound directly to your ears to give you a natural sounding listening experience, similar to listening to well-placed loudspeakers. The high-end transducers used in the HD 5 series delivers deep, satisfying bass with clean, smooth mids and highs.

Stylish: The elegant look of the HD 569 is highlighted by the large soft padded detachable ear pads with comfortable black microfiber covers. The wide padded headband adds to the overall comfort.

Interchangeable Cables: The versatile HD 569 comes with two cables. The high-quality 10' cable has a full-size 1/4" (6.3mm) plug, designed for plugging into your home stereo equipment. You can also use the headphones in the recording studio for mixing or monitoring live performances. The shorter, 51" (1.2m) cable has a 3.5mm plug and an in-line remote/microphone to let you control music and make calls on your smartphone or other portable device. The 1-button remote is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. The single button lets you play/pause your music and skip to the next track, plus accept or reject incoming phone calls. It has additional functionality (fast forward/reverse, and skipping to the previous track) for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Q
What would result if I plugged this headphone into my iFi Zen DAC V2?

A
Pairing the iFi Zen DAC V2 with the Sennheiser HD 569 should give you tremendously better sound quality. You would have better separation with treble and bass as well exceptionally better nuance across all genres of music.

Q
I need a longer cord for the 3.5mm plug. Is the plug INTO the headset a 3.5mm also, where I can just get a longer cord with 3.5mm at both ends and have that work? I need about an 80' cord. Thank You!

A
The cord into the headphones seems to measure around 2.5 mm and has a twist-lock mechanism to keep it from being pulled out.. I would suggest just getting an extension cable to plug into the other end of the headphone cord.

A
Yes that'll work fine. When I purchased this headset I also bought an extension from Cruchfield. I don't think it's 80 ft. but it works well
