About the AKG D5
A tradition of excellence
A tradition of excellence
Thanks to its supercardioid polar pattern, the D5 dynamic mic hears you, and only you.
Vocal power
The D5 dynamic microphone gives your vocals the power and clarity to soar above the mix, even on the loudest stage. Its supercardioid polar pattern ensures that it'll pick up your voice, and not sound next to you or behind you. The mic capsule is isolated by two shock mounts to reduce handling noise, and an integrated windscreen filters out wind and breath noise, giving your voice the presence it deserves.
Built like a tank
Live gigs can be rough on your equipment, but the D5's solid, zinc alloy die-cast body and spring-steel wire mesh grille shield the inner works against physical damage and high sound pressure levels. This mic may be sensitive, but it's no wimp!

Features
Overview: The AKG D5 is a dynamic hand-held microphone designed for lead and backing vocals. It has a supercardioid polar pattern that provides the maximum gain before feedback. The D5 has an XLR connector, and comes with a padded storage pouch with a zippered closure and a stand adapter.
Dual Shock Mount: The microphone capsule features a dual shock mount that eliminates any kind of mechanical noise. This prevents the microphone from picking up handling or cable noise on stage during live performances. In addition, an integrated windscreen significantly cuts down on wind, pops, and breath noises.
Polar Pattern: The D5 has a frequency-independent supercardioid polar pattern that works well on stage. By suppressing sounds coming from behind, the microphone reduces the chance of feedback caused by on-stage monitors.
Rugged Construction: The D5 features a rugged zinc alloy die-cast body. The transducer element is protected by a rugged front grill made of spring-steel wire mesh that is extremely resistant to deformation caused by drops or rough treatment.
Specifications:
- Frequency Range: 70 Hz to 20 kHz

- Sensitivity: 2.6 mV/Pa (-52 dBV re 1 V/Pa)
- Max. SPL (1%/3% THD): 147 / 156 dB SPL
- Impedance: ≤ 600 ohms
