In-Wall Loudspeaker: The ElectroMotion IW in-wall loudspeaker features MartinLogan's Folded Motion tweeter and a 6.5" aluminum cone woofer with cast aluminum basket that provides powerful low-frequency bass extension. This stealthy in-wall speaker blends seamlessly into any home thanks to it's ultra-low profile, micro-perforated grille with no visible bezel.

Folded Motion Tweeter: MartinLogan's Folded Motion tweeter helps give the ElectroMotion IW in-wall speaker its natural, realistic high frequency sound. Lightning fast transient response, combined with a large surface area (8x that of a typical 1" dome tweeter) creates clear, dynamic, and precise sound. The 1" x 1.4" Folded Motion tweeter works by moving air (which creates sound) perpendicular to the folded ridges of the diaphragm, similar to how an accordion works. This extremely low mass diaphragm "squeezes" air and requires almost 90% less excursion than the typical 1" dome tweeter, which drastically minimizes distortion while providing a lightning fast response time. The increased surface area also provides a wide, yet controlled sound dispersion (80°x80°) to create a realistic and carefully etched sound stage.

Aluminum Cone Woofer: The ElectroMotion IW in-wall speaker employs a 6.5" aluminum cone woofer with a rubber surround, concave dust cap, and cast aluminum basket for detailed midrange and powerful low-frequency bass extension.

Precision Vojtko Crossover: Carefully hand-built using only the finest polyester capacitors and air-core coils, the crossover employ's MartinLogan's proprietary Vojtko topology for vanishingly low distortion and seamless driver integration. This precision-tuned network preserves even the most microscopic sonic nuances while handling the full dynamics of any source.

Spring-Post Connectors: The MartinLogan ElectroMotion IW features two spring-post connectors to attach your speaker wire. The spring-posts will accept bare wire (16- to 12-gauge) and pin-connectors.

Robust Mounting Locks: A robust mounting-lock system allows quick, trouble-free installation. When not in use, the constant-control mounting locks are held securely within a self-contained housing. When moved into place during installation, they couple the speaker's chassis firmly to the wall. And if the speaker is ever removed, the locks retract and latch themselves back in their housings.

Ultra-Low Profile Grille: The MartinLogan EM-IW features an ultra-low profile, paintable micro-perforated grille with no visible bezel for a near invisible integration into any wall. A magnetic system secures the grille easily into place, reducing the risk of warping or damage during installation.

Applications & Placement: The EM-IW is suitable for almost any application in average to small rooms. Ideal for use in a multi-channel home theater as a surround speaker, in a kitchen as 2-channel stereo speaker, or in a hallway as part of a distributed audio system. This MartinLogan in-wall speaker offers superb imaging and flexible placement in nearly any location. However, for best performance and imaging place speakers equidistant from one another and avoid physical obstructions between the speaker and primary listening position.

Installation Dimensions: The in-wall speaker has an overall measurement of 8.5" (w) x 11" (h) x 3.9375" (d). It requires a cut-out of 7.875" (w) x 10.25" (h) and a mounting depth of 3.8125" behind the wall surface. The speaker only protrudes 0.125" from the wall.

Break-in Period: Allow approximately 72 hours of break-in at 90 dB (moderate listening levels) before any critical listening.
