Overview

Our take on the Metra ethereal CS-D2D

Metra's handy CS-D2D lets you convert an optical digital connection to a coaxial digital connection, and vice versa. This is useful when you have a limited number of available inputs on your receiver, or when you're connecting components that are separated by a long distance.

Easily convert digital connections

Metra's handy CS-D2D lets you convert an optical digital connection to a coaxial digital connection, and vice versa. This is useful when you have a limited number of available inputs on your receiver, or when you're connecting components that are separated by a long distance.

Minimize signal loss over long cable runs

A common scenario for this converter is changing over an optical digital connection to a coaxial connection so that it can be run over a long distance without signal loss. Say your TV is wall-mounted above your fireplace, and the cable run to your A/V closet is 50 feet away. Simply connect a CS-D2D to the optical digital cable that's connected to your TV's audio output. Then, use RG-6 coaxial cable to make your long-distance run. Finally, terminate each end of your cable with an RCA compression connection using a crimping tool.

One side of your new coaxial cable plugs into the converter, and the other side into a coaxial digital connection on your receiver. Voila — now all of your TV's streaming services like Netflix™ and YouTube™ will play through your surround sound receiver. You can also use the CS-D2D in situations where you're short on a given type of input. Want to connect your CD player or network streaming device to your receiver, but all of its optical digital connections are already in use? Simply install this converter in between your components and plug the source into a spare coaxial digital input instead.

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

After struggling to get optical sound from my receiver and/or cable box, your advisor, Troy, has suggested I try this, so I am. Certainly, Troy knows more about electronics, and how to treat a customer than my cable company does!! And, so do the rest of your advisors I have had contact with. Your entire company rocks!!
