Polk Audio RTi A7 Tower Speaker

Enjoy exceptional audio performance with Polk's RTi A7 tower speakers (shown in cherry)

Serious music listeners and home theater buffs alike will appreciate Polk's consistently popular RTi Series tower speakers. The RTi A7 offers top-notch sound quality, and its curved edges and real wood veneer give it a handsome, refined look.

A high-tech approach to accurate sound

This speaker's carefully designed drivers undergo laser testing to help identify and eliminate resonance points, ensuring smooth, accurate response. Its asymmetric cabinet helps it deliver rich, clear sound by combating vibration and increasing rigidity.

Polk's exclusive PowerPort® technology reduces noisy air turbulence and increases low-frequency output. You'll enjoy clear highs, rich bass, and open, natural-sounding midrange.

Additional high-end features

Two sets of gold-plated five-way binding posts let you biamp or biwire the RTi A7 for the best possible sound. An anti-diffraction grille helps it deliver a large, three-dimensional soundstage with pinpoint-accurate stereo imaging. Adjustable spikes provide stability on both carpeted and hardwood floors.

Complete your surround system

For best performance, pair the RTi A7 towers with our recommended center channel speaker: Polk CSi A6  and surround speakers: Polk RTi A3 or FXi A6.

    Driver Technology

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Polymer Composite Woofers: The speaker features two 7" polymer composite woofers. Two 7" woofers have the surface area of a single large woofer with the low mass and acceleration of small woofers, resulting in tighter, more accurate bass response. Each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Polymer Composite Midranges: The speaker has one 6-1/2" polymer composite midranges for smooth wide-range response with low distortion. For high performance durability, the midrange uses a butyl rubber surround.

Silk/Polymer Tweeter: The speaker has a single 1" silk/polymer dome tweeter that provides clear, detailed highs. The tweeter features mylar bypass capacitors in the crossovers to extend high frequency response and improve detail and transparency. The tweeter also features low viscosity ferro-fluid cooling with a heat sink on the Neodymium magnet for superior heat dissipation, power handling and reliability.

Magnetically Shielded: The speakers are magnetically shielded, allowing you to place them near your television without distorting the picture.

    Enclosure Design

Damped Asymmetric Hex Laminate (DAHLI) Cabinet Design: All-MDF construction with massive asymmetric cabinet bracing ensures a resonance-free enclosure for accurate sound. The asymmetric design is made from a 6-layer laminate with 5 viscous layers to create the optimal shear damping (OSD) system. The elegant styling aside, curved cabinets not only result in a stronger, more rigid and acoustically inert enclosure, but the curved walls also produce less audible coloration from panel resonances.

Power Port Venting System: The speaker has a rear-firing Power Port venting system built into its back plate for precise deep bass response. This venting system allows air velocity to slow gradually, vastly reducing air turbulence, and delivering greater bass efficiency than conventional ports.

Acoustic Resonance Control (ARC): Internal cabinet resonance can impart a "thick" character to voices. Polk's patented Acoustic Resonance Control port system overcomes this problem. In addition to the Power Port venting system, each speaker has a front-firing port that is tuned to suppress the internal cabinet resonance, resulting in smooth, natural midrange reproduction.

Anti-Diffraction Grilles: The floating anti-diffraction grilles minimize grille diffraction for spacious, 3-dimensional imaging.

    Connections

Dual 5-Way Binding Posts: The speaker has two sets of gold-plated 5-way binding posts connected by gold-plated jumpers. Using the dual 5-way binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers.

    Mounting Options

Adjustable Leveling Spike Feet: The adjustable leveling spike feet that can be screwed onto the bottom of the speaker's attached base provide stability on any type of flooring. The spike feet adds approximately 0.875" to the speaker's overall height when screwed all the way in.

    Specifications & Dimensions

Frequency Response: The overall frequency response is 20Hz-27kHz and the -3dB frequency response is 35-26kHz.

Width: The main body of the speaker is 8.6875" wide but the speakers attached feet extend beyond each side of the speaker, giving the speaker and overall width of 10.6875".

Internet reviews are all very positive for this speaker, and I have had Polk speakers for years. Looked hard at the LSiM 703 and TSi500. Wanted a bookshelf but $1000/pair; reviews better for the RTi A7 over the TSi500. They sounded great in the store so expecting great in home as well. My current Polks are cherry and they are beautiful. [ Bill  Jan 19, 2018 ]

Have several Mathew Polk car audio speaker sets & have always enjoyed the sound. The Polk Audio RTi A7's are supposed to be very smooth & should work well as Front Channel Speakers in our A/V system. These units look great too (Ordered in Cherry finish. [ Robert  Jan 02, 2018 ]

Features offered and quality of product conformed to me audio requirements! [ Kevin  Mar 21, 2017 ]
From all the available info and customer feedback, these towers are most likely to give me the rock concert quality sound that I desire in their price range. And with a 300 watt rating, the drivers are most likely to endure my amp's power assault (again, in their price range). [ Carl  Jan 05, 2017 ]
Goods looks, wood veneer, excellent reviews, size and specifications matched my needs. [ Eugene  Dec 06, 2016 ]
A large number of very favorable user reviews; specs matching the audio requirements I wanted. [ Daniel  Sep 05, 2016 ]

Wanted amazing sounding and looking speakers without spending a huge amount of money. Found I could get a full set of surround and center speakers to match and a compatible sub for a great sound and impressive look... the cherry finish is just fantastic! [ FREDRIC C  May 20, 2016 ]
These are the main front channel speakers in my home theater. I'm slowly building the system and so far it is just these and the PSW111 sub that came free as a special offer. These are great! [ BRENT  Apr 25, 2016 ]
I've been reading product reviews at Crutchfield and elsewhere on the internet. Almost universally good reviews. [ Timothy Dean  Jan 31, 2016 ]
Polk Audio's reputation proceeds them. I've purchased Polk Audio before a few years ago; great sound; quality. I've already purchased one of these last month (got a bit wasted and inadvertently only ordered 1; sort of f'ed up); but got a chance to try it out and Wow! Nice! Also, Crutchfield is a great place to be business with. The more I deal with them, the stronger my opinion grows. They listen; they act. Great combo! Thanks Crutchfield! [ GREGORY  Dec 29, 2015 ]

I'm not sure, I have the Onkyo RZ810. The service rep said I should get the A5 model because the RZ810 would only hit the "sweet spot" with those speakers. I picked the A7 and think it is fine. I love the speakers and the RZ810 powers them fine from what I can tell. I purchased plugs and wired the speakers to the plugs and it works fine. [ Thomas  May 08, 2018 ]
I have a Pioneer Elite SC-LX 701, this receiver provides enough juice and makes the house shake. Not familiar with Denon products. Bi-amping is the way to go if you want to get the most juice out of these incredible speakers. Hope this helps [ Luis  May 05, 2018 ]
The denon receiver should work fine with them. As far as biamping or biwiring them goes I don't think it will make a big improvement in your sound. [ richard  May 04, 2018 ]
My answer to you is,Read the book, and go on line and research the speakers and Amp. I have a Denon amp and I love it. As far as the speakers go, I hooked them up and played one song and reboxed them up and sent them back. I bought B&K speakers, What a mind blowing experience...... [ Ron  May 03, 2018 ]
I am very pleased with my polk audio rti a7's! Very clean and crisp high's. Low range was better than expected. Sound stage is good and stereo imaging is amazing By far. ..the best speakers I have ever owned. Previous speakers were Polk monitor 10's. Old school by today'sstandards. All that said. ..great speakers for the price. [ Mark  Mar 31, 2018 ]
These skeskers come with a levwel stand and are quiete stable. Also omce burnt in rhe sound quality is quite good played at higher powers. [ ROBERT A  Mar 31, 2018 ]
do not know of any. [ david  Mar 30, 2018 ]
First of all is PRICE, second the S60's have no mid range, and their drivers really need an amplifier to get full use out of them. but if you are going to pair them up with two other speakers that have good mid-range speakers, they will be fine. and lastly the S60' do NOT have video shielded protection. [ STEVE  Mar 07, 2018 ]
S60s are a better over all speaker..better woofers better tweeter but if you so choose to save a few bucks the rti a7 rock the house as well, buying audio is like buying a motorcycle more horse power is always better Audrey [ tony  Mar 07, 2018 ]
I don't know the difference. But I can tell you these speakers scream and sound sooooo good in my 11.2 surround theater. They get better as they get older. [ BUDDY  Mar 07, 2018 ]
You're getting only 3 mid drivers on the s60 vs 2 mids and a woofer on the a7. The signature series replaced the rti line I believe but I haven't heard much on them. Higher wattage capacity on the rti as well. If you do go with the s60 however, it's on sale currently on polks website for 350 instead of 450. For 450ea you can buy rti a9s and I think they would out perform the s60s by far. Feel free to give crutchfield a call, they have some knowledgeable staff that can help with room specs and product familiarity [ Lee  Mar 07, 2018 ]
Rti has More speakers for surround probably not much difference I use mine for HEAVY. Audio;;;;;; Yamaha 300 watts system [ Boyd C.  Mar 07, 2018 ]
Mine are on a cut pile rug and they seem pretty stable to me. The score on spikes dig pretty well into the carpet and provide a good bit of stability. You should not have any concerns there. [ Bradley  Feb 08, 2018 ]
I am not using the spikes since I have mine directly on hardwood floors. I don't see these being tippy at all with the use of spikes on carpet of any pile length, especially front to back since they are so deep. If you have small children and are worried about them tipping to the side, a strap to the wall or entertainment unit to limit side motion could be used. Overall, however, they are very stable as the stance is wide. [ Ed  Feb 07, 2018 ]
These speakers come with two types of feet that can be attached to the bottom. For carpet they come with small spikes that are designed to push the carpet to the side and sit firmly on the floor. I currently have these on berber carpet and they are very stable. [ James  Feb 07, 2018 ]
Spikes on carpet changes the sound on carpet with rich highs and deep bass also keeps them sturdy hope that helps you outstanding speaker [ mark  Feb 07, 2018 ]
They are very sturdy and have little "footings" that give them a wider base. Low pile rug should be no problem. I have crazy toddler boys and I don't worry one bit about them tipping over (and trust me they put everything to the test). The spikes are to give it a better anchor in carpet- can't really comment on their usefulness as I have them on a hardwood floor. [ Kellan  Feb 07, 2018 ]
I don't mean to give you a stupid answer but I have no idea why you would need to run that kind of power to them unless you're using them in a real movie theater or arena sized space or something. I have them running on an old Denon receiver right now that is rated at 110 watts per channel. I waited for the wife and kids to be out of town and wanted to really push them and I still had plenty of volume to turn up on the receiver and it was every bit as loud as seeing AC/DC live- I've been twice. They're in a roughly 900 sqft room so it's not really a small space either. I went outside to gauge how loud it was. I got a nice proud feeling of satisfaction- then promptly went in to turn things down a bit to avoid a noise complaint. They sounded fantastic the entire time by the way- very happy customer here. Hope this helps you save some cash because I love these speakers and personally won't ever need anything more than to just have them plugged into a receiver for my home "arena". [ Kellan  Nov 28, 2017 ]
I would imagine that'll work out well. If it helps I bought these to replace some old Polk tower speakers that had powered subs. I bought a Polk DSWPRO660 sub at the same time. Anyway, pretty happy with the speakers. Took a few weeks to really break in, but after they sound great. My center is an old CS250 and surrounds are ls/fx. These fit right in. I'm also using a Yamaha receiver RX-V1700. Hope that helped. [ Timothy  Mar 01, 2017 ]
the speaker are very good and will do the job great, but it all depends on what you are looking for. After I got the Polks I went with the Definitve Tecknology BP 9060 and the Atmos A90 speakers for a much higher quality of sound and for a higher sound quality for my liking. fust what AV reciver are you usinf. lookat the Denon 4200 and up for your needs I have ben using the Denon systems for over 20yrs. and just love the sh---- . [ Donald  Mar 01, 2017 ]
I have the Polk RTiA7 and am very pleased. They took a little while to break in but combined with the Polk Audio DSW Pro440 wi Powered Sub I have a combination I am extremely pleased with. I have everything connected to a Marantz SR7007 7.2 channel home theater receiver.. A great sounding system. [ RICHARD A  Jan 02, 2016 ]
First of all the Polk RTiA7's are great speakers. In conjunction with my Onkyo nr-838 they are the Main front speakers for my Home theater system. However I decided to utilize the receiver as a 5.1 Main system , with the other channel for the bedroom. Having said that I think your question really has to do with the concept of the 7.1 / 5.1 system itself. Each speaker has a specific job. My understanding is that it was the "CENTER" speaker job to enhance/accent the frequencies related to human speech. And when properly placed does a very good job doing so. Ergo the question to you is what are you using for the center speaker? With differences in frequencies and power rating for speakers I decided to go strictly with Polks speaker - I assume "technically" there is no harm in mixing and matching, It is just my belief my system works best when all components matches exactly. When I made my purchase I did consider the Defin Tech. I'm not familiar with the PA TSX. I do have two suggestion that may help. First is a simple review of 5.1/ 7.1 system concept (proper placement of speaker, The job each is to do). Then Secondly I suggest going to a local Audio Store to listen to various speakers to see which one (in your opinion) best accents Human speech. Ideally one of those store that has a room set up with multiple systems. See which one handle human speech best (freq. range). [ DAVID  Jan 02, 2016 ]

I have these speakers also set up with CSI A6 center, 2 Fxi rear surrounds and a 8 inch sub.. the A7s are great speakers but i think that they dont give out great deep bass and having a separate sub makes it feel more complete. i mostly use mine for tv/movies. i have my bass on the speakers only at a medium level and mostly run all of my bass through my sub, makes everything sound more smooth real. but it really depends on what ur preferences are and what u mainly use it for and what are speakers u have hooked up. [ STEVE  Jul 04, 2015 ]
In my opinion u still want a sub. Its pretty obvious when ours is off. Expecially action movies [ REBECCA A  May 24, 2015 ]
These are truly excellent speakers. I have the Polk PSW111 subwoofer which I don't use since the RTI A7 does a great job on it's own. [ COLIN  May 24, 2015 ]
It's not a question of competence. But a decision for completeness. The bass response for a 10,12 or 15 inch woofer is quite different to that provided in the rti a7. As in any band, orchestra etc. [ DOUGLAS  May 24, 2015 ]
Matthew, I've listened to these speakers for hundreds of hours now and don't think a subwoofer is needed. I'll have the volume around 38 and during the intro to the main title from Transformers, the pictures on my wall rattle and I can feel the vibration sitting in the room. Same goes for explosions in moves etc. For me if there was an additional sub it would distort what you were intended to hear. Make sure you have them set to large and not small. You won't get the depth of sound if you don't. Hope this helps and good luck. [ TRAVIS  May 24, 2015 ]
Technically, you don't, but it is a matter of personal preference. I use a subwoofer with this setup because it gives music a greater depth even at lower volumes. [ Mark  May 24, 2015 ]
I haven't felt the real experience cause it pulls too much power for my reciever. So I'm saving up for a amp to stand the power cause even though I have 4 gauge wire for them it still pullsome alot. I have two speakers like that and two subs that were free threw crutchfield [ david  May 24, 2015 ]
in any home theater system you should have a strong sub doesn't matter what kind of front speakers you have [ GILBERT  May 24, 2015 ]
Yes 100 watts should be plenty... i have a sony 100 watts X 7, and have 3 other speakers and a seperate sub hooked up and it sounds great [ STEVE  Jul 04, 2015 ]
Dino, I got too wrapped up about the sprakers, but yes, I have a similar receiver that works nicely w these speakers and the sub. [ ERNESTO  Oct 31, 2014 ]
Hi Dino, my friend, I'm a music enthusiast and sold my motorcycle to buy these speakers. BUY THEM. they will sufice and more. However, you have to match them with a powered subwoofer of about 150 W. Hope this was helpful Ernesto, from Queens NY Ps. I also have the RTi A 9 in my weekend home, paired with the p sub. You can imagine the scandal in the woods !! I am happy with the speakers, subs, and the service at Crutchfield. [ ERNESTO  Oct 31, 2014 ]
oh ya, for sure. I have a Yamaha RX-V673 and it can blow them out. [ DAVID  Oct 30, 2014 ]
yes. I have a Denon receiver with 75 watts per channel; the sound is great and no problem with being powerful or loud enough. [ ALBERT E  Oct 30, 2014 ]
    Absolutely! I have the Yamaha RS700 with those speakers. [ ELLEN H  Oct 30, 2014 ]
Yes, I also have a Yamaha 100 watt receiver pushing the same speakers. I mostly listen to Rock music and find the speakers can handle the volume well but you don't need to push them too loud to get a clear concise sound. They perform best for me when I raise them to ear level off the ground. [ JOHN J  Oct 30, 2014 ]
My understanding is that Polk used MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) for their speaker unit. The whorls / wood grain decoration is just that - decoration. I read this somewhere, but can't remember where. [ DAVID  Jan 02, 2016 ]
I don't know what the wood of origin is but I will ask a friend who is a woodworker, next weekend, and post an update. It is a large grain with whorls among mostly vertical lines. Smooth with some texture. Satin black finish. Attractive. [ ELLEN H  Jul 08, 2014 ]
It doesn't say specifically but this is from Polk's website. RTiA speaker enclosures are crafted in a process specifically developed for Polk called Damped Asymmetric Hex Laminate Isolation (DAHLI) design. It consists of a durable 11-layer laminate (6 strong solid layers and 5 damping viscous layers) topped with a layer of beautifully finished real wood. These delicately curved enclosures are acoustically inert, producing less audible coloration, and internally braced for non-resonant strength. [ TRAVIS  Jul 06, 2014 ]
I don't think that info is even in the manual. You can go to Polk Website and download manual to verify. I recommend the RTi9s since they are on sale for only 50 dollars more the RTi7s at regular price. Nonetheless the 7s are still a great speaker. [ AUGIE  Jul 06, 2014 ]
yes , but I have went with the Denon AVR-W4200 and the Definitive Tecknoligy BP 9060 and A90 atmos set up and love the sound from them. I am looking for I am looking for in-celling Atmos speacker to and to the set-up and amplifier to add to the setup to complet my system. [ Donald  Mar 01, 2017 ]
I bought rtia7's the sound is crystal clear. I also bought a csia6; 4, fxia6; and a dsw pro 660. Our amp is a Yamaha RX-A1020. I'm only driving the speakers at about 60% max wattage. Every speaker is crisp, crystal clear, with very clean sound. You will not be disappointed with the RTi A7's. Ron R. [ RONALD L  Feb 12, 2014 ]
I know this really won't help, but I have a Onkyo nr-838 which is rated to 150 watts. The same as my Polks systems. My belief is that the purpose of the higher wattage is that you'll pick up more of the very slight nuances (less efforts to move the cones of the speakers). [ DAVID  Jan 02, 2016 ]
I have a Yamaha RX -V673 with 90 watts per channel. Its more than enough power for the A7s. [ DAVID  Oct 30, 2014 ]
I use an Onkyo 906 receiver and like there products. But I think any mid class receiver would drive them just fine. I love the way the speakers sound I use them in my sunroom for TV and music and enjoy them a lot. You can't go wrong with the RTi A7. I hope this helps. James [ JAMES L  Feb 10, 2014 ]
You will definitely want a high-end, high-power receiver. I personally am running these speakers on a Sony ES DA 5500ES and they sound great. I have two Polk subwoofers as well and many times I can watch TV with the subs off because of the great bass response of these speakers. Look for receivers that can do a minimum of 120 Watts RMS per channel. [ AUGIE  Feb 10, 2014 ]
While I ended up returning the A7's due to size ... I compared them to all of the Tops picks under 1500.00. I originally sought out a pair of B&W 683's ... Loved the sound, did not like the price!!!! (1400/pr). I also compared to Monitor Audio RX6, Martin Logan 40's & Def Tech 8060's. I went with the A7's as they were on sale. I ended up with RSL's and a killer sub! Anyway Receivers: I went with a Denon 2313 picked it up on sale & gets great reviews.Other top picks Yamaha 1020, Pioneer SC-61 and Marantz SR6006.... but all of these are over 800-1000.00. Another great receiver for 500-600.00 is the SONY DN1040... Not a single review had a bad thing to say about it. Hopefully this helps ... Why did you decide to go with POLKS? [ MARTIN  Feb 09, 2014 ]
Are some old infinity surrounds temporarily. ) the receiver could easily bi-amp the R7s with our temp setup but we don't feel it's even needed they put out plenty of sound even in our large living room. I would think any reciver with 100+ per channel would be great. As for our sony I like it very much for using multiple inputs we use blueray ps3 sat receiver and Apple TV on almost a daily basis. With the remote u have one button to push for each input and it swaps over and automatically uses your last sound setting (Dolby 3-Chanel etc...) that I used for that input. Also if we're watching the satellite and I turn on the ps3 it automatically swaps to that input. Hope this helps and u got both parts. I accidentally hit done before I was finished. If u didn't get the first part or have any more questions u think we could help with feel free to ask. [ REBECCA A  Feb 09, 2014 ]
This is our first home theater system so we haven't tryed many components but what we used was the sonyDN1080 and we are very pleased. We currently are using it in 5.1 mode until we can afford the surrounds (the rears are s [ REBECCA A  Feb 09, 2014 ]
Cliff, I bought these to go along with my Yamaha Aventage RX-A830. I also bought the matching rears, center and bookshelves. These were my first speakers and my first receiver. I have had no complaints at all with my system. I use it for music and for watching movies and TV. I do have my PS3 and WiiU hooked up, but don't play as much, but the sound is excellent. I love the app for it, which I use on my iPhone and iPad. The system was easy to setup, as long as you give yourself the time and don't rush. Overall, I recommend these speakers and the receiver I have. Enjoy and good luck!! [ Steven  Feb 09, 2014 ]
Cliff.... Idk if I can give u a for sure positive answer on the recievers, cuz I've only used 2 different kinds. First I had hooked up an older pioneer recievers, and I wasn't happy with it. But I was just only waiting a few weeks til I had cash for a new one. But the one Im using now is the newest model Sony str-1040. It makes all the speakers sound really great. But I am about to prolly purchase another to use for pre-amping the pair of rtiA7s... Please feel free to ask any other questions [ STEVE  Feb 09, 2014 ]
I have mine Bi-Amp on a 7 channel 110 watt onkyo and I feel like I needed 140 watt. Don't get me wrong it still sounds amazing just feel like these speakers were meant for more power than I expected. [ Parshan  Jan 04, 2018 ]
Yes you need a lot of power for these speakers so 200 plus watts would be accurate. [ Parshan  Jan 04, 2018 ]
    I don't have a rti a7, but I had a denon x2300w and I use with klipsch quintet 5.0 surround sound and 2 klipsch 12 inch subwoofers they sound very good . [ THANH VAN  Aug 03, 2017 ]
to ravikant I bought the 2300 for my brother as a wedding gift so i cannot tell you much about it. although i did help him hook it up . he likes it just fine but I'm a litter harder to please . I did not listen much , but it seemed a little under powered . And he was hooked to a pair of older klipcsh floor standing speakers . The sound was good just not the high end I'm use to. I use the 4300 denon recv. as a prosser for surround and two channel music and it doses a fantastic job . I believe in having the options and i do believe the 3300 has pre outs so if you do not have the power for your new speakers or you want to up grad later with a bigger amp you can .Just some options to think about. crutuchfield has a great return policy. Sorry for not having more info on 2300 . please bear in mined that it is just a first impression i have not spent any real time listening to it. Good luck on your new system. Ihope this helps. [ JOHN  Aug 03, 2017 ]
I don't know the speakers you mention. My X2300 drives my Klipsch Heresy speakers fairly well enough-- but go up a model-- save up if need be-- nobody ever complained their receiver was too powerful. [ Raymond  Aug 03, 2017 ]
I have the Dennon you ask about and am very happy with it. I feel it is at its limit with my system so for your speakers you should go up to the next level of power. [ Douglas  Aug 03, 2017 ]
I only use the RTiA7 for music in a 2.1 set-up. I recently upraged my amp to an NAD with 150 watts per channel. I was formally using a Marantz SR 4023 with 85 watts per channel. In my opinion the cleaner and more powerful NAD C388 amp made a big difference in improving the clarity of sound I was looking for from my music, I don't think the power issue will matter much for movies but I do think it make a difference for music so buy as much power as you can afford. [ EDWARD  Aug 02, 2017 ]
yes, great sound and good quality. [ Joseph  Mar 06, 2016 ]
Yes they would compliment them all day [ Jeff  Feb 21, 2016 ]
Absolutely! I am extremely happy with mine. They are finally broken in and sound great. [ Torrey  Feb 20, 2016 ]
I wouldn't think you need another set of speakers if you already have Polk tsi400's, my A7's are my stand alone speakers. They are excellent if thats what your purchasing them for. [ Nickolas  Feb 20, 2016 ]
myself suggestion is to upgrade receiver. I think my receiver is a little larger RX-1070 and it is adequate for my need an conditions. I love my speakers but am going to move them to be the front speakers fory Onyco AV receiver and move the original tower speakers for my Yamaha back from the onkyo to the Yamaha. The Onyko is way more power per channel. [ JOHN R  Jul 10, 2015 ]
I have a pair of RTiA7 speakers that I've played via a Denon 105W/channel receiver. They sounded great, but I do think they need more than 105W/channel to sound their best. My RTiA3 speakers are a better match for this receiver. [ Steve  Jul 08, 2015 ]
If you are running the rb61 as mains, you have to use a sub and even with a sub, you may not have the full sound you are looking for. It will be clean but not overpowering. I had Klipsch bookshelves and a sub before I bought these and to be honest, I don't really need a sub unless I am listening to heavy bass line music and want the extra kick in the low frequency range. For clarity and warmth, it would be difficult to beat. They have a smooth flat response and warm sound. I am biamping these with a second set of channels from a Marantz receiver and they are getting good clean power at 90w per channel. I do know that you can go with either the Polk or Klipsch and shouldn't be disappointed but will say that these Polks will be hard to beat unless you want to spend a lot more. The one piece I would stress is they do like power and I would be sure to have a good receiver or preamp to get the most out of them. Hope this helps. [ SCOTT  Dec 31, 2013 ]
They got the power, but the definition is not great, kind of flat. [ CHRISTIAN  Dec 29, 2013 ]
    I wasn't sure initially, but I went with the A7, and A3s with the A6 and a BIC sub.......after the initial break-in.....absolutely spot on! [ DANIEL V  Dec 28, 2013 ]
I love these speakers. I had a 20 year old pair of Polk floor standings and these are a great improvement. I always wanted a set of speakers with a dedicated mid-range and I think that makes the difference. Also a separate subwoofer never sounded very good to me so the dual woofers sound really full too. These match my surround speakers better than the old pair but sound great in stereo--I was very surprised at the improvement. [ MARK S  Dec 27, 2013 ]
I've owned these Polk speakers for about 6 months and like them very much. They're located in a big room and have no problem filling up the sound space. The sound is clear and pure. The bass is so strong that it makes my Polk subwoofer unnecessary and redundant. There are a few things to be careful of however. They are physically big---my wife thinks they are way too big. Also the cherry wood is stained very dark. It's much darker than the subwoofer, cherry entertainment center, and coffee table that are all a medium stain and located in the same room as these speakers. [ STEPHEN L  Dec 27, 2013 ]
thanks. just want to get the best speaker set up for $1000. dont have to be floor thought about the psb [ Dennis  Dec 27, 2013 ]
I auditioned both Polk and Klipsch and found them comparable. I don't like my current configuration and need a better receiver, but I can't blame the Polks as the issue. I use this system during the week in a large room in an old farmhouse I rent. At Home the Sony ES receiver and Klipsch configuration I have is very nice. [ Alan  Dec 27, 2013 ]
thanks i sure would like to hear them. hate to order and return them though [ Dennis  Dec 27, 2013 ]
I really like it. I am not an experienced audiophile and I only have the space to set up one of the two that I bought, but it makes surround sound for movies and music sound really good. I know when I have a larger room, the soiund will be even more awesome. So far, no complaints! [ PATRICK  Dec 27, 2013 ]
I have these polks-very impressed. I'm an older guy who has run the gamut from AR-3s in the 60's all the way through jbl's in the 70s, kefs in the 80's and b&w's in the 90's (I had a corporate expense account and these qualified as entertainment). I must say, though, that these polks hooked up to my also new marantz integrated amp and oppo DVD player puts the rest to shame... [ JUDD  Dec 27, 2013 ]
I don't know about the Klipsch speakers, but the A7s sound as good as any speaker in this class could sound. Very well balanced in the mids to highs, and the bass is clear and defined. As reviewers have noted, I have indeed found that they sound better as they age, so be sure to give them time to settle in. Very warm, very defined, very balanced speakers. For my ears, and for the price, I very highly recommend these speakers. [ DEAN A  Dec 27, 2013 ]
