Our take on the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H5 by Crutchfield's Jeff Miller
Premium in-ear headphones with the freedom of Bluetooth®
The durable, comfortable Beoplay H5 wireless headphones give you convenient on-the-go listening — and look good doing it.
When I think of wireless earbuds, words like "convenient" or "nifty" come to mind, but I don't always think "luxury." Leave it to Bang & Olufsen to change that. The boutique Danish audio company's Beoplay H5 wireless headphones have a high-end feel and an understated style. Rubberized earpieces ensure the H5 'phones are durable enough for exercise, and a tasteful touch of aluminum makes them suitable for wearing out. They fit securely yet delicately in-ear, while your music or podcasts play wirelessly via Bluetooth — no cord from your phone to cause hassle.
Helpful iOS® app and user-friendly features
Large dynamic earbud drivers deliver smooth sound. Apple® users can make tonal adjustments based on mood or genre with a free downloadable app for iPhone® or Apple Watch. And when you're done listening, snap the two earpieces together using their built-in magnets. The music will automatically stop, and you can wear them around your neck until you're ready to listen again.
Comfortable, custom fit
From the gym, to the train, to your desk at work, the Beoplay H5s fit in anywhere, thanks to their light, compact in-ear design. And the included ear tips ensure they stay comfortable. There's a selection of seven pairs, so you can find ones that match your ears well. There are four sizes of silicone tips and three sizes of Comply™ memory foam tips.
Music plays wirelessly from your phone via Bluetooth, and the Beoplay app for Apple gives you control over the sound.
I'm a big fan of Comply foam tips — they're my personal favorite — because they fit snug but feel light and unobtrusive. The Comply "Sports" tips included here are extra-breathable and have a special membrane to keep moisture away from the earbuds' internal circuitry.
Rugged cord with remote for taking phone calls
Take a close look at the Beoplay H5 photos. You'll notice B&O didn't use a run-of-the-mill cable to connect the two earpieces. That cable is covered with a soft, braided textile and is dust- and sweat-proof like the earpieces.
Even the inline remote is durable. It features a built-in mic so you can answer calls without reaching for your phone. You can also skip songs or play and pause music.

B&O has set the bar with their products, which I own many. The H5 has crisp clear sound with bass response spot on. Couldn't be happier with my purchase and Crutchfield products. They far exceed the Apple earbuds that came with my iPhone 7 plus.

Overview: The Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H5 is a high quality in-ear wireless headphone with high-performance sound. These Jakob Wagner-designed headphones come with three pairs of Comply Sport ear tips and four pairs of silicone ear tips. The H5s have Bluetooth 4.2 with aptX-LL, and a 20" connecting cable between the ear buds. The wireless headphones is powered by two rechargeable batteries, and come with a unique USB charging cube.
Drivers: The BeoPlay H5 is equipped with 6.4mm electro-dynamic drivers that deliver the signature Bang & Olufsen sound, whether you're commuting, running, or just relaxing. The drivers are mounted in a textured rubber and polymer housing that resists sweat and moisture.
Ear Tips: The BeoPlay H5s offer a large choice of ear tips to assure a custom fit. There are three pairs (large, medium, and small) of Comply Sport ear tips that stay in the ear canal during vigorous exercise. The tips are breathable, and feature a membrane to protect the inner electronic circuitry of the ear buds. In addition, there are four pairs (large, medium, small, and x-small) of comfortable silicone ear tips.
Bluetooth: Equipped with Bluetooth 4.2, the H5 lets you roam freely while listening to your favorite tunes and making calls on your mobile phone. In addition to AAC, the headphones support aptX and aptX Low Latency, which allow you to watch video while listening to synchronized audio. Typical Bluetooth latency is more than 150 ms (milliseconds), while aptX-LL is approximately 40 ms.
Rechargeable Batteries: The BeoPlay H5 are powered by two 50mA Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, one in each earpiece. The batteries charge in about 2 hours via the supplied magnetic USB charging cube, and provide up to 5 hours of playtime at moderate levels. The headphones magnetically click into the cube for charging. When not wearing or charging the headphones, you can click the magnets together to automatically power down the earphones to save the battery.
Connecting Cable: The BeoPlay H5 features a 20" connecting cable with an inline remote and microphone. The cable features an easy-to-clean braided textile jacket, for durability and comfort. The remote is compatible with most smartphones for music playback and phone calls.
Beoplay App: The BeoPlay App works with many of the BeoPlay products, including the BeoPlay A1, A2, S3, H5, H7, H8, and BeoLit 15. The app lets you create and save your own personal ToneTouch preset. You can also use other ToneTouch presets, such as Commute, Relax, Workout, Podcast, etc., as well as change the presets from the Apple Watch. The app is compatible with Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod touch running iOS 8.0 or later, and Android devices running version 5.0 and up.

My husband needed some earbuds that didn't get in the way when he was weight-lifting. [ LORI Feb 06, 2017 ]
Fantastic sounding ear buds! Not very good for activities that require a lot of movement cause they don't seem to stay in your ears too good. However, when sitting and relaxing they are fantastic. I use my wireless Bose sport earbuds when active or at work cause they stay in better and sound almost as good. [ Bill Dec 26, 2016 ]
