Our take on the BDI Corridor 8173 by Crutchfield's Ralph Graves
Stylish storage for your home theater system
TV not included.
If you own a large TV, consider BDI Corridor 8173, a Euro-modern cabinet that'll support a TV with a screen size of up to 85" and weighing up to 175 pounds. The stylish Corridor features louvered doors with an attractive finish, a durable, micro-etched glass cabinet top, and plenty of room for gear inside.
Store up to 9 components
The Corridor 8173 consists of a center compartment and two side compartments, each with an adjustable shelf, giving you plenty of storage options. The cabinet can hold up to 9 components.
Concealed ventilation slots keep your gear running cool, even with the doors closed. Hidden wheels built into the steel frame let you easily move the cabinet away from the wall for cleaning your system or hooking up a new component.

5 answers Thinking of purchasing the BDI Corridor 8173. When a center channel is placed in the cabinet, with the doors closed, is the audio quality degraded due to the semi open/closed wood slats? Or is the center channel speaker sound indistinguishable when compared to the doors being open? Thanks. [ TheaterGR Feb 04, 2018 ]
No issues with sound quality and I've tried with both. Also, remote are responsive as well. I have the 8179 and I purchased the smaller feet to lower the unit. It's a clean look and built very well. I did have the 2 center doors cracked/broken, but the folks at Crutchfield / BDI took care of it by sending me another pair of doors. [ Richard Feb 07, 2018 ]
I had to modestly increase the volume to that channel using my receiver to compensate for the door. (Running through your receiver's auto-setup, like Audessy, would likely have the same result). But I noticed no degradation in sound-quality with the door closed. [ Jonathan Feb 05, 2018 ]
I have not been too scientific about it, but I think there's no difference. I've never had anyone comment on center channel audio quality either. [ Matthew Feb 05, 2018 ]
Sounds fine to me, no distortion that I can tell. Had this for about a year and loaded with receiver, game system, subwoofer, some various other things and the weight hasn't been a problem. Rolls on wheels relatively easy even on carpet. Expensive but should be able to get 1-2 decades of use. [ Yan Feb 05, 2018 ]
I have had the soundbar locates both within the cabinet and also placed on top of the cabinet. I did not notice an appreciable difference in the sound quality either way. It seems to be mostly a matter of asthetics. [ KELANI Feb 05, 2018 ]
