Audio innovations
Illusion Audio's designers have been creating audiophile car speakers for decades and, with several CES Innovations Awards, the buzz about their impressive subwoofers is getting around. Using high-tech materials and manufacturing techniques, their subs are compact and lightweight without compromising their commitment to great sound. One look will tell you they're something special.
High-tech down low
Illusion Audio made their Carbon Series C10 XL 10" subwoofer to give you deep, rich, musical bass. The patented dual-gap motor design promotes long linear travel with low distortion, while extensive venting and big heat sink fins help keep this sub cool. Dual 2-ohm voice coils allow you to wire the speaker for 4-ohm or 1-ohm impedance, giving you options in case you want to reconfigure your system or add another subwoofer.
Best of both worlds
The woven carbon fiber cone is laminated with paper for the perfect balance of stiffness and warmth. The cone's rubber surround keeps the cone stable at high levels of excursion, and the cast aluminum basket provides the strength for the woofer to handle up to 500 watts RMS. The basket's black powdercoat finish combines with the carbon fiber cone for an appearance that's as impressive as the sound of the speaker.

Features
Woofer Terminals: The woofer has spring post wire terminals. They will accommodate bare speaker wire up to 10 gauge.
Dual 2Ω Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 2Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load; when wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.
Measurements: If the trim ring isn't used, the frame diameter decreases to 10.217" and the flange height decreases to 0.325".
Sealed Box: Illusion recommends 0.75 ft³ (21 liters) as the optimum sealed enclosure volume, resulting in a 48 Hz -3dB point. As small as 0.5 ft³ (14 liters) is acceptable, resulting in a 50 Hz -3dB point. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle the most power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable for all types of music.
Ported Box: Illusion recommends 1.0 ft³ (28 liters) as the optimum ported enclosure volume with a 3" diameter 18" long port tube. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed, so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output.
