About the Pioneer TS-A2000LD2

Bob Bihlmayer

A shallow-mount sub that rocks

Pioneer's TS Series shallow-mount subs bring great bass to vehicles where conventional subs won't fit. Their low profile allows the use of slender enclosures that'll fit behind a truck seat or into any tight space while delivering the bass performance you need. The TS-A2000LD2 8" shallow-mount sub handles up to 250 watts RMS with a mounting depth of just 2-5/8".

Mica-injected molded resin cone

The TS-A2000LD2 features an oversized cone made of mica and glass-fiber reinforced polypropylene that moves more air and delivers accurate bass. The dual 2-ohm voice coils allow you to wire the sub for 1- or 4-ohm impedance. The sub works best in a small sealed enclosure, making it ideal for those tight spaces in today's smaller vehicles.

Product Research

Features

Woofer Cone: Pioneer uses a glass fiber and mica reinforced injection molded polypropylene (IMPP) cone, making it more rigid than polypropylene alone.

Shallow Mount Woofer: Pioneer's Shallow-Mount subwoofers are designed to provide wider installation options for a broad range of vehicles. They can be mounted in select factory subwoofer locations, as well as behind or under the seats of many vehicles.

Dual 2Ω Voice Coils: This woofer features two 2Ω voice coils that offer wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.

Terminals: The spring post terminals will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Sealed Box Volume: Pioneer recommends a sealed enclosure with an internal volume between 0.15 ft³ and 0.5 ft³, with an ideal volume of 0.5 ft³. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over the woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.

Ported Box Volume: The recommended ported box volume ranges from 0.25 ft³ to 0.5 ft³, with the ideal size being 0.5 ft³, using a single 3" diameter x 8" long port. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed, maximizing bass output for a given amplifier.

Measurements: When mounting the woofer with the trim ring, the dimensions change as follows:

  • Mounting Height: 0.54"
  • Flange Height: 0.54"
  • Frame Diameter: 8.9"

Customer Q&A

15 questions already asked

Q
How do I wire this to my original vehicle setup? Since it's a dual voice coil, do you have a wiring diagram you can send me. It's going in a 08 tundra which only has 1 woofer behind the seat, I believe it has to be 2ohm going to the original amp that came from factory
marco  Apr 20, 2023
1 answer
A
Although this will physically fit into your factory subwoofer location, it would not be advisable to power it with the factory amplifier. Since this subwoofer has 2-ohm dual voice coils, it can only be wired to achieve a 1-ohm or 4-ohm impedance. Please reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695 for further help with this project.

Q
The fitment guide says this sub fits in the rear right side panel on a 2010 Ford Explorer, I am unsure if the factor amp will for work, and if not is there one that is a direct replacement?
elijah  Mar 10, 2023
1 answer
A
Although this will physically fit into the factory subwoofer location, it may not be the best option to work with the factory amplifier. We do not currently have a directly replacement option due to the unusual impedance of the factory subwoofer (dual 1.2-ohm voice coils). Our advisors can help to explore other options for bass in your vehicle. You may reach us via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
It fit in factory space mini coutryman 2023?
carlos  Dec 30, 2022
1 answer
A
This Pioneer TS-A2000LD2 is not a fit, Carlos. It looks like depth is very tight in those under seat subwoofer enclosures on your 2023 Mini, the same subs are used in both Harmon Kardon and non-HK sound packages. I'm showing 1.26 inches in our research, which means we have no subwoofers that will fit the factory location, sadly. You could consider using a small, powered sub like the Kicker HS10 in the link below in an alternate location. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646HS10/Kicker-46HS10.html

Q
Does this fit a 08 Mazda MX-5 with Bose system?
stuko  Oct 06, 2022
1 answer
A
This speaker would require custom installation including the fabrication of a spacer. We have not tested this speaker with the factory Bose amplifier. It is possible that it would require more power than the factory amplifier provides. For additional help with this project, please reach out to our advisor via chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
Can I use this in 2011 Acura MDX as a direct replacement for rear deck sub and if so, do I need any special tools or harness for connecting?
ronald  Jul 08, 2021
1 answer
A
It was a direct replacement for my 2013 Pilot. I did not need any special harness. Just direct connect (positive and negative). Call Crutchfield. They can tell you what special tools you may need..

Can this be used as a direct replacement on a 2015 Lexus rc 350 rear deck sub?
c  May 29, 2021

A
We have not been able to get our hands on a 2015 Lexus RC350 to research it and figure out what can fit. You might consider going to a local installer so they can check if this sub will fit it

Q
I have a 2001 suburban with a factory sub and amp. Amp and sub are 2 ohm and SVC. I plan to keep factory amp. If I were to purchase this sub that has DVC, how would I wire it optimal performance at 2 ohms? Or would I be better of buying a new sub that is a 4 ohm DVC and parallel it to get 2 ohm?
erik  Dec 29, 2020
1 answer
A
This subwoofer cannot be wired so show an amp a 2 ohm load. A DVC 4 ohm, DVC 1 ohm, or SVC 2 ohm subwoofers are the only ones that can be wired to a 2 ohm load. We have advisors that you can reach by calling 1-800-324-9695 who will be happy to check our current inventory to see if we have a sub that can fit and work with the stock amp

If I install two of these in my truck, how much power will I need for them to work well?

I am only replacing a blown subwoofer which has an factory amp. I don't think you would have to add anything extra other than your amplifier.
david  Dec 18, 2020
A
Ideally 500 watts RMS at 2-ohms. :)

What is a good amp for this? It's rated for 20-1400hz but I can't find a subwoofer amp rated even close to 1400?

I have a 2016 Acura RLX and I'm just running it off the factory amp and that seems to work fine

Q
Would this sub tighten up my bass in my 2016 dodge caravan with factory audio? When I turn up the current sub its so boomy. And does the center channel on this vehicle make it all sound tinny and thin, I was thinking about disconnecting it

David, one is installed in the right rear cargo of a Toyota 4Runner. Since installed I believe the bass sound is just right. Doesn't over power the highs and Low's of a song. Sounds much better than original JBL woofer.

A
Honestly I haven't hooked mine up yet but I think it would sound awesome in your caravan
marvin  Jun 16, 2020
A
Just installed in 2008 Lexus ES350. Definitely not boomy. I've got open air install, in rear deck of car. truck acting as enclosure. base is tight and difficult to tell there is bass, but its there.

Q
Directions in the instruction manual, for the sealed box, show a depth (from face of box where speaker is to the back) of 12 1/4". Yet if you do the math using that dimension, along with the other recommended dimensions, the box will have way more than .5 cu.ft. Also the drawing visually indicates it's much shorter than 12 1/4"..... is that a typo? If I'm doing the math it correctly, to get to .5 cu.ft. it should be about half that, around 6". Please advise, thank you.
