Extend your shooting time
Canon's BG-E20 battery grip holds up to two LP-E6N or LP-E6 batteries, so you can keep shooting when your EOS 5D Mark IV's main battery runs out. This battery grip is made from the same dust- and moisture-resistant magnesium alloy as the 5D Mark IV, so you can use it in just about any kind of weather. Overview: The BG-E20 Battery Grip is designed for the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV digital SLR camera. Included with the battery grip is the BGM-E20L which can hold up to two LP-E6 or LP-E6N Lithium-Ion battery packs. No batteries are included with the battery grip. When installed on the EOS 5D Mark IV, the BG-E20 adds approximately 1-7/8" to the overall height of the camera.
Installation: After removing the battery and battery compartment cover from the camera, the BG-E20 mounts to the bottom of the camera, held in place by threading the attachment screw into the camera's tripod insert. An additional tripod insert is provided on the bottom of the grip. One or two LP-E6 batteries can be installed into the BGM-E20L. When two batteries are installed in the magazine, power is supplied simultaneously from both batteries, effectively doubling the battery life.
Battery Life: Using the BG-E20 on the EOS 5D Mark IV camera, the battery capacity is as follows:
|Conditions||Viewfinder Shooting||Live View|
|At 73°F (23°C)||1800 shots||600 shots|
|At 32°F (0°C)||1700 shots||560 shots|
Using Household Power: To connect to a household power outlet, the optional AC Adapter Kit AC-E6N (sold separately) should be used. The DR-E6 DC coupler fits into one of the LP-E6 slots in the Battery Grip.
Controls: The Battery Grip is equipped with several controls, conveniently placed for use when the camera is in the vertical (portrait orientation) position. The controls include a Multi-controller, AF Point Selection button, AE Lock button, AF Start button, AF Area Selection button, Shutter button, Multi-function button, Main Dial, and a vertical grip operation switch. With the switch in the Off position, the controls on the battery grip are no longer active; you should use the controls on the camera body.
Weight: The BG-E20 weighs approximately 13.9 ounces (without batteries).
