Overview: The DF-M1 is an electronic Dot Sight, designed for use with select Nikon cameras, including the P1000. It attaches to the camera's hot-shoe, and assists you in acquiring distant subjects by acting as a zoomed-out targeting device. When the subject is lined up in the Dot Sight at normal field of view, you can easily track it as you zoom into extreme magnification. The DF-M1 comes with a padded storage case.
Reticle: The DF-M1 pops up to reveal a 1" clear screen (diagonally measured), onto which the reticle is shown. The Dot Sight gives you the choice of three different reticle types, and two reticle colors. You can choose a dot reticle, a circle reticle, or a dot-circle combination reticle. The reticles can be set to red or green. In addition, there are five different reticle brightness settings. All of the reticle controls are located on the rear of the Dot Sight.
Aiming: You can adjust the position of the reticle according to the distance of the subject. To position the reticle, you should first frame your subject in the center of the monitor or viewfinder, and at the same focal length you'll use when shooting. If the reticle isn't centered over your subject, you can adjust the position of the reticle by turning the Up/Down dial on the right side of the unit, and the Left/Right dial on the left side. Once you have centered the reticle on your subject, you should be able to track your subject as you zoom out and in at extreme magnifications.
Battery: The DF-M1 is powered by a 3-volt CR2032 Lithium coin cell battery (included). A fresh battery provides up to approximately 170 hours of use.
Note: The supplied battery is only for trial use, and does not have the same capacity as a commercially available CR2032 battery.
Mounting Foot: The Dot Sight has a standard hot-shoe mounting foot with a locking ring. In addition, you can mount the unit on a tripod via the provided 1/4" tripod socket.
