An instrumental mic for brass or woodwind instruments
Shure designed their PGA98X condenser microphone for use with brass or woodwind instruments. Just clip this mic on to the bell of the instrument, and use the flexible gooseneck to position the mic. The mic's cardioid polar pattern picks up audio from the source while rejecting unwanted noise. And don't worry — the PGA98X can take it. Its tough cast zinc housing will hold up to years of recording sessions and gigs. The mic comes with a male XLR connector for your mixer or audio interface.

Features
Overview: The Shure PG ALTA series of microphones is designed and manufactured with the highest quality and construction. The PGA 98H microphone is designed specifically for horn and woodwind performance and recording. It has a horn clamp with a flexible, discrete gooseneck design. At the end of the 5' cable is a preamplifier with an XLR connection for plugging into mixer or audio console. The PGA 98H also comes with a 15' XLR-XLR cable, a foam windscreen, and a zippered storage pouch.
Pickup Pattern: The PGA 98H has a cardioid polar pattern, which reduces feedback and rejects unwanted background noise. The microphone has dual mesh grilles with an arrow to indicate which direction to aim the microphone toward the source. The tailored response microphone cartridge is designed for clear reproduction of wind instruments sound sources.
Phantom Power: Condenser microphones require power to operate. A 48-volts DC power supply is recommended for the PGA 98H-XLR, however, it can operate with lower voltages. Phantom power is usually provided by most mixers or audio interfaces where the microphone will be connected. A balanced microphone cable is required.
Construction: The microphone has an industrial design with a black metallic finish and grille for an unobtrusive visual presence.
Mounting: The PGA 98H comes with an integrated, spring-loaded horn clamp that allows you to attach the microphone directly to the horn of a woodwind or brass wind instrument. The flexible gooseneck lets you position the microphone exactly where you want. The included foam windscreen is recommended for outdoor performances.
XLR Connector: The Shure PGA 98H has a 3-pin male XLR connector on the preamplifier.
