Keep your home and family safe with in-wall-rated speaker wire

When you're running wire inside your walls, it's important that you use speaker cable that's approved for in-wall runs. This cable's CL3 certification means it passed NEC (National Electric Code) safety tests for in-wall usage. AudioQuest's FLX cables are also rated for direct burial. You can run FLX cables to your outdoor speakers and bury them in the ground without a protective conduit.

Features

Overview: The FLX/DB 14/2 in-wall speaker cable has two 14 gauge conductors to supply wiring for one speaker. Using Semi-Solid packing, the individual copper strands within the bundle don't change position, resulting in reduced distortion. The long grain structure in the low distortion, oxygen free, high-conductivity copper AudioQuest uses results in a natural sound, uncolored by the cable. The Star-Quad geometry lowers cable inductance, reducing susceptibility to external noise sources.

After doing a bit of research I decided that the Klipsch surround sound speakers I purchased deserved some high quality speaker wire to go with them. I was a little skeptical about spending over $1 per foot on speaker wire ( I wish there was a spool length in between 50' and 125' so I wouldn't have so much extra wire left over ) but I'm looking forward to seeing how well this wire performs. You are correct that speaker wire like this can be used in either direction and AudioQuest also states that this wire can be used without having the arrow pointing the same direction as the audio will flow. But AudioQuest has done studies analyzing every aspect of the sound and its transfer over cables. They found that even the process of making the conductors in a wire (the copper strands) creates some patterns within the grain of the cable that can help or hinder the transfer of the audio across the cable. I found an article on their site covering this very subject: https://www.audioquest.com/theory-education/article/83-directionality-its-all-about-noise My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101 [ Paul  Apr 02, 2018 ]  Staff
Yes [ Bob  Jun 26, 2017 ]
Yes, it certainly can. Both 14 gauge wires and protective casing are of very high quality. Great product. [ Alexey  May 30, 2017 ]
Yes [ Roger  May 29, 2017 ]
I'd contact them directly but usually that's what direct burial means. The outer protector layer is pretty tough stuff on this speaker wire. [ Jacqueta  May 29, 2017 ]
It's outside diameter measurement is 1/4 inch. [ ROBERT  May 29, 2014 ]
the outside diameter is approximately 5/16" [ JAMES  May 29, 2014 ]
5/16 of an inch. Just over a quarter of an inch. The wire by the way is fantastic. The shielding makes it great, and the wire was a breeze to navigate through any hole I put in my studs and floor joists. I would recommend this product to anyone. They wire houses with 14/3, for electricity, so for audio wire this is a great product. Depending on how much you want to spend and the amount you have to run it may seem pricey. But you're only going to do it once! You will not regret the purchase. [ THOMAS J  May 29, 2014 ]
The AudioQuest FLX-14/2 in-wall speaker wire is a high-performance design that uses high-purity 100% oxygen-free copper for clean signal transfer and minimal distortion. It also incorporates "twisted pair" construction to help shield electro-magnetic interference; and its CL3 certification means it passed safety tests administered by the Underwriters Laboratory (UL). If you would like to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. I hope that helps! [ Larry  Jan 18, 2017 ]  Staff
As a fellow motorcycle driver and music lover I can answer your question with some experience. But first it would be nice to know if your motorcycle will be parked outside or in a garage, and whether you live in a mild climate or a harsh one, because it will make a difference on how well the wire holds up over time. It also depends on the color your cycle. White can complement most colors. I have enough leftover from my theater project to wire a bike and happy to share it. Another thing to consider is how many times and how far you may need to bend it. It is fairly stiff and not conducive to super tight turns. I hope this helps a little! Rick M. [ Rick  Apr 17, 2018 ]
I would say no. There are better applications for a short run on a motorcycle. Get some plastic sheathing, flex tube from an auto parts store or right here at Crutchfield and make a short run inside that. You don't need the A/Q stuff for a bike. Make sure your connections are vibration proof. Look at marine application stuff for outdoor capability. [ George  Apr 09, 2018 ]
This cable is really strong I can't see why it wouldn't work, I've used it on outdoor speakers and holds up fine to ny weather [ Chris  Apr 09, 2018 ]
Sorry, but i would not know the answer to this question. [ hamid  Apr 09, 2018 ]
Towards the speakers from the receiver [ EDWARD  Jun 24, 2017 ]
The only thing you have to pay attention to is make sure you match the colors on each terminal end. [ TRAVIS  Dec 24, 2014 ]
Towards the speaker, or the flow of electrons. Think often sounds being produced by your receiver as "cars" traveling down a road to their destination- your speakers. The strands are aligned to maximize the "traffic" flow so as to be as effective as possible. [ BIIL  Dec 24, 2014 ]
Thanks Michael B.... Happy Holidays! [ Alan  Dec 24, 2014 ]
It honestly doesn't matter, but normally the signal flow from the receiver to the speaker is the direction the arrow should be. Usually with high end cables they put that on there. The cable will work either direction as long as it's good 12 or 14 gauge. Hope that helps. [ ADAM  Dec 24, 2014 ]
Towards the speakers. The signal is traveling that way [ JONATHAN R  Dec 24, 2014 ]
It should say it on the box. The arrows should point towards the speaker. [ Tim  Dec 24, 2014 ]
Alan, the arrows point in the direction of the signal, and the signal obviously transmits from the amplifier. So the arrows point to the speaker. [ Michael  Dec 24, 2014 ]
Speakers [ MIKE  Dec 24, 2014 ]
