Notes:
  • Crux BeeLine series BTS-GM1X installs at the factory XM satellite radio tuner location; there is no need to remove your vehicle's factory radio. Your vehicle's factory XM satellite radio tuner will be retained and continue to fully function properly.
  • The BTS-GM1X cannot be installed if the factory XM satellite radio tuner is built into the factory radio.
  • This interface adapter will not work in vehicles with RPO code "UYS". You'll find the RPO code listed on the Service Parts ID label, located in the glovebox.

Bluetooth Music Streaming: Thanks to built-in Bluetooth 2.0 with support for A2DP, you are able to wirelessly stream stored music and music apps (using SBC codec only) from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or portable audio player to the Crux BTS-GM1X and your vehicle's factory radio. You can control your music using the factory radio or steering wheel controls, but song/artist information will not be displayed on the factory radio. You can also use Bluetooth to hear navigation voice prompts (factory radio and adapter must be in Bluetooth mode). The adapter will only pair to one device at a time.

Note: The Crux BeeLine series adapter does not support Bluetooth hands-free phone communication. However, Bluetooth audio streaming will pause when a call is received on your phone and then resume when you hang-up.

Magnetic Vent Mount: The Crux BTS-GM1X comes with a magnetic vent mount for your smartphone. The mount works with most air vent configurations found in today's vehicle's - including horizontal, vertical, and round air vents. The vent mount includes a magnetic device cradle and comes with a self-adhesive magnetic plate which attaches to the outside of your smartphone or inside of your smartphone case. Once the magnetic plate is installed, simply hover your mobile device over the cradle and it will quickly snap into place and remain there. You can quickly remove it too. The mount's ball-and-socket mechanism allows you tilt your smartphone up or down, turn it left or right, and rotate it 360-degrees. You'll be able to mount your device in a vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape) orientation.

USB Port: A Mini-B USB port is located inside the casing. This port is provided for uploading firmware updates to the adapter.

Q
Why has it gotten quite? I've only had it for 3 weeks
ivan  Apr 29, 2023

A
Greetings Ivan, and thank you for your question. Perhaps its the volume of your phone that was somehow turned down. That will effect the signal also getting into this device. Try that first, and if you still are having issues, please call our tech support team. You will have a direct number on your shipping confirmation email.

A
This Bluetooth interface does not work with Chevy Corvettes. That is one of the few Chevrolet vehicles it cannot work in. We may have another Bluetooth adapter that can work with your vehicle. More information is needed to check the compatibility and I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check yours

Q
I have a 2013 Silverado 2500 LTZ with factory navigation and roof mounted screen. I've confirmed that I have XM radio, instructions suggest it should be behind the glove box, but I can't seem to locate it. I've seen some threads saying factory navigation module has xm built in, but nothing conclusive. Does anybody know a way to connect this device to this vehicle?
nathan  Jan 29, 2023
1 answer
A
Please reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-325-6070 for help with determining if this will work for your vehicle. If this solution doesn't work, then we may have another means to bring Bluetooth into your vehicle.

Q
Can this work in a 2012 gmc terrain? If not is there any other alternatives?
devon  Dec 23, 2022
1 answer
A
No, this interface is not compatible with the stock radio in the 2012 GMC terrain. We don't have any car specific Bluetooth interfaces for this car. If your car has an AUX input on your car stereo, this is a universal Bluetooth adapter we carry: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_142BTAXSP1/Scosche-Motormouth-III-V2.html.

Q
Does the wiring harness allow for you to access phone using the onstar speak button like the newer gm vehicles or do you have to open your phone like you normally would?
owen  Aug 19, 2022
1 answer
A
This Crux BTS-GM1X Bluetooth interface is for music streaming solely, Owen. No hands free calling capability at all. Since these rely on the XM tuner input they just give solid music streaming add on capability without changing the factory radio.
bo  Aug 19, 2022 (Staff)
Q
I?? don't quite understand the hands free calling part of the ad. Does that mean with this interface you can no longer do any hands free calls or just while using the Bluetooth interface?
harry  Feb 19, 2022
2 answers
A
You will have to switch between the two Bluetooths on your phone. Bluetooth only works on one device at a time so if your listening to music a phone call comes in you will have to go into the phone and disconnect from bts to gmc vehicle, then do it all over when you want to listen to music. Mine stopped working after 6 months it needs an update and it is impossible to update, they give u instructions on website but nothing downloads to my computer.
robert  Feb 24, 2022
A
This interface does Bluetooth music and doesn't interfere with your Bluetooth wireless calls

Q
I installed this device in my '09 Yukon XL and, so far, I've had no problems connecting my phone or streaming music. My issue is with the streamed volume... Even when my phone volume is maxed out, the volume through the truck's Bose system is very low so I need to crank the volume very high to hear anything. Anyone else experience this?
brandon  Dec 13, 2020

A
Mine works fine maybe its youre phone i notice the volume was louder when i got a new phone good luck
humberto  Dec 15, 2020
A
Check the volume on your music app. Could be you have that set to a lower level. Even though you max the volume on your phone, the music app could be say 50% or so.

Would I still be able to use and listen my XM radio?
sam_88  Oct 30, 2020

Yes if you have an active XM radio subscription, it switches back and forth between Sirius XM and their Bluetooth circuit....I've been very happy with it, it allows me to use my maps on my cell phone so the voice comes over the car audio...

I frequently had issues with this unit but I never experienced this exact problem. To fix most of my issues, I would disconnect it from behind the glove box and reconnect it. I considered installing some sort of switch because this thing never turns off and will even drain your battery if your vehicle is parked for several days.

My 2013 impala currently has the stock stereo. I also have stock Bluetooth but it only works for calls. My question is with this device will it add Bluetooth for audio and my stock Bluetooth still work for calls?

Yes it will. It is 2 separate systems. You will be able to connect to both systems simultaneously.
ian  May 04, 2021

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up research on your specific vehicle model and see if this will work correctly. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
Can you use the existing mic from the Onstar system or are you required to use the one provided in the box?
spencer  Jan 22, 2018
6 answers
A
Your existing Mic will work for your existing systems and will control your phone with voice commands. Your phone sees the Bluetooth in your car as a Bluetooth headset with earpiece and mic. You can simultaneously connect to both devices one for phone calls one for streaming music
ian  May 04, 2021
A
The one I received did not include a mic in the box. This device is more to stream music, not to use it for phone calls.
john  Jan 24, 2018
A
It uses the mic on your phone. It only acst as a blue tooth speaker system for your phone. Radio must be kept on on the assigned channel to work.
steven  Jan 22, 2018
A
For my GMC Acadia, it's actually pretty smart. My phone (Android) recognizes the Bluetooth as headphone only with no mic. So, it uses the mic on the phone.... Say if you need to use voice commands on your phone or using Siri. If you currently have Bluetooth phone capability on your car, it reverts to the phone on your car. Meaning, your phone connects to BOTH Bluetooth devices simultaneously.
roy  Jan 22, 2018
A
I know you can use the phone mic, but I have never used the onstar one. As far as I know they one and the same. I don't recall an extra mic in the box.
kris  Jan 22, 2018
A
This model does not come with a microphone in the box. Bluetooth functionality remains the same through your existing system and microphone.
kenneth  Jan 22, 2018
Q
Will I still be able to listen to xm radio too, or does the Bluetooth replace that?
tyler  Dec 27, 2017

You will still be able to listen to XM radio. You switch between Bluetooth and XM using the seek button.
david  Mar 12, 2018
A
Press on the seek button on your radio until it beeps and it will switch between XM and Bluetooth.
kris  Jan 22, 2018
A
Your vehicle's factory XM satellite radio tuner will be retained and continue to fully function properly with the Crux BTS-GM1X Interface installed. For more details or to discuss further, please contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Thanks!

Q
Will the audio from the Bluetooth connection be heard on all the speakers or just certain speakers in the vehicle?
dwayne  Dec 15, 2017

A
In compatible vehicles, the Crux adapter will provide Bluetooth stereo audio streaming through all of the speakers. I hope that helps. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Ryan

Q
Do I need an active XM radio subscription for it to work? I have the XM tuner, but my XM service isn't active.
supertech427  Dec 13, 2017
2 answers
A
No it does not need to be active. You just need the option because the device plugs into your XM receiver not your factory radio.
john  Dec 15, 2017
A
Your XM tuner does not need to have an actual subscription. The tuner must work however !! Your only adding this too the wiring portion of the system.
david  Dec 15, 2017
Q
Does this unit work in conjunction with the factory Bluetooth or is it independent from the factory one? Will the steering wheel controls work with changing streamed music tracks?
jeff  Nov 30, 2017
1 answer
A
This will depend largely on your vehicle. For details on installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you specific details on compatibility and/or installation.
