Tascam US-2x2 audio interface

Two types of DAW software are included

If you already have digital audio workstation software you like, there's a very good chance the US-2x2 will work with it. Tascam has tested this interface with leading DAW software for Windows and Mac platforms, including SONAR, Pro Tools, Cubase, Live, Studio One and GarageBand®. But what if you're just getting into computer recording and you don't have software yet? No problem. The US-2x2 comes bundled with not just one, but two DAW applications. Cakewalk's SONAR X3 LE is an advanced DAW for Windows which includes a host of audio plug-ins and lets you create projects with up to 32 tracks. Or you can use Ableton Live 9 Lite, which is geared toward simpler song creation using your Mac or PC. And the US-2x2's MIDI 5-pin DIN input/output is a nice touch — it lets you use a compatible MIDI controller to trigger whatever kinds of sound samples you want in your DAW software.

Features

96kHz/24-bit Recording: The TASCAM US-2x2 is a USB audio interface that can record at up to 96kHz/24-bit resolution. The higher resolution captures more digital detail in your music, making your recordings much smoother, even if you're recording for a CD or MP3 track.

Mic Preamps: The US-2x2 USB audio interface is equipped with two Ultra-HDDA microphone preamps for clean, quiet audio quality from any type of microphone. The preamps have a 57dB gain range, which makes them ideal for dynamic, condenser, or ribbon mics. Ultra-HDDA (High Definition Discrete Architecture) technology is based on discrete components. With a noise rating (EIN -125dBU) and signal-to-noise rating (101dB), the US-2x2 can deliver the best sounding audio in its price range.

Combo Input Jacks: The US-2x2 features balanced mic and line level inputs with Combo XLR/TRS connectors. You can connect XLR microphone cables or 1/4" TRS plugs from an instrument, processor, or synthesizer.

Phantom Power: The XLR connector supplies +48V phantom power for condenser microphones. A switch on the front panel turns phantom power to both inputs on/off.

Direct Monitoring: The US-2x2 has a Direct Monitoring path, which monitors the input signal before it's sent to the computer. This "zero-latency" monitor output can be used by vocalists and instrumentalists without the distracting delay.

Bundled Software: The US-2x2 features two DAW applications bundled with the interface. Cakewalk SONAR X3 LE for Windows can handle up to 32 audio tracks, including audio plug-ins, and supports VST3 plug-in effect format. Ableton Live 9 Lite for Mac and Windows operating systems can be used for live performances, dance music production, and songwriters. Up to 8 audio tracks can be played back, and both VST and AU plug ins are supported.

Computer System Requirements: The US-2x2 is compatible with computers with the following system requirements:

  • Windows: Windows 7 (32-bit SP1, 64-bit SP1), Windows 8.0 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit); USB 2.0 port; Dual Core 2 GHz or faster, 2 GB or more memory.
