Stereo power amplifier

Overview

Our take on the Origin Acoustics A2150

Giving your speakers plenty of power is crucial for both musical fidelity and pulse-pounding volume. The Origin Acoustics A2150 gives you a solid 95 watts per channel into 8 ohms, or 280 watts in bridged mode, so you can wring every ounce of sound out of a pair of speakers or a subwoofer. It's an excellent way to drive speakers indoors or out.

A flexible workhorse

The A2150 has three power settings. There's the classic manual control of on/off, but you can also choose to have it power up automatically when it senses an incoming signal, or use the 12-volt switch to wake it up with a single command along with the rest of your components. You can even daisy-chain more than one amp together and build a system that will rock the whole house.

Features

Class-D Power: This Class-D switching type amplifier has incredible efficiency, above 90%, as higher power is demanded. This means substantially less heat is produced even though the amplifier is able to produce substantial power. This also means a reduction in size as smaller heat sinks are required and the electronic circuitry can be more compact and reside in a smaller chassis.

  • 2 Channel Stereo: The Origin Acoustics A2150 delivers 95 watts x 2 channels into 8 ohms, or 150 watts x 2 channels into 4 ohms.
  • 1 Channel Bridgeable: Bridging two channels into one delivers 280 watts of power into 8 ohms. This feature creates greater flexibility in system design when additional power is a requirement.

Line Input: The Origin Acoustics A2150 amplifier is equipped with a stereo RCA line input for connecting your external audio source. The maximum input level gain can be set for each channel (Left & Right).

S/PDIF In: The Origin Acoustics A2150 stereo amplifier is also equipped with a optical (toslink) digital input for the connection of an external digital audio device.

Loop Out: If you need sound through more speakers than this amplifier can support, you can use the "Loop Out" output to connect a second amplifier. The "Loop Out" output consists of a Left and Right RCA jack.

Binding Post Speaker Outputs: The Origin Acoustics A2150 is outfitted with a total of four binding post terminals to connect a pair of loudspeakers using bare wire (up to 12AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, or banana plugs (single/dual).

Auto Turn On/Off: The amplifier requires no direct access to function. It can simply be turned on out of standby mode either by sensing the audio signal from a preamp or receiver or by a 12-volt signal from any number of components. It also has a 12-volt output to trigger other components for turn on and off. The amplifier's main power on/off switch is located on the back-panel.

Built-In Protection Circuitry: Built-in circuits that sense both thermal overload or a short-circuit in the speaker connections, will shut down the amplifier until the temperature level returns to normal operating levels or the short in the connections is corrected. This protects the amplifier from permanent damage and avoids costly service visits and repairs.

LED Indicators: There are two LED lights on the front of the amplifier that indicate the status of each channel. If an LED light is blue, that means the channel is functioning normally. If it's red, that means there's an issue and may require attention. And if the light is off, then that channel isn't currently functioning or in use.

Mounting Options: The Origin Acoustics A2150 can be placed in a rack (2U space), inside a cabinet, or on a stand. The feet can also be removed.

Detachable AC Power Cord: The Origin Acoustics A2150 comes with a 6.5' detachable AC power cord (IEC 2-prong).
