About the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H4
High-fashion, feel-good headphones
The Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H4 have a clean, symmetrical design that's pleasing to both the eye and touch.
High-fashion, feel-good headphones
Style and comfort don't always go hand in hand — think of the last time you tried on jeans or shoes. So it is pretty remarkable that Bang & Olufsen's Beoplay H4 wireless headphones are among the best-looking and perhaps the most comfortable over-ears I've ever tried.
A sturdy, elegant design
The H4s have a sturdy frame and earcup sliders made of aluminum. Their plush earpads are lined with soft leather. These headphones felt light in my hands, and I could almost forget I was wearing them after a while.
Wireless freedom
Bluetooth headphones in general are pretty liberating — you can listen without connecting a cord to your phone. But these easy-going headphones were extra pleasant because of their super-comfortable fit. In the morning, I could throw them on, turn on a podcast, and move around freely to make coffee or breakfast.
Smooth, detailed sound
Of course you can only enjoy headphones if they sound good, too. B&O's sound signature is a good match for the relaxed fit of the Beoplay H4s. You don't get the extreme, bass-heavy sound you might expect from some modern headphones. Instead, you get a smooth, midrange-focused sound profile with detailed highs.
I found the on-ear controls very easy to use.
My listening impressions
I started my work day with a J-Dilla mixtape of instrumental, jazz-infused hip-hop. I followed it up with the Isley Brothers' Givin' it Back album, then sampled the new Japandroids rock album Near to the Wild Heart of Life. The headphones remained even-keeled, letting the different music styles dictate the mood. I honestly lost track of time before I realized it was lunchtime. When I pulled them off, there was no sense of strain or fatigue on my ears — a testament to the both the satisfying sound and well-padded fit.
On-ear controls that you can figure out quickly
Three tactile buttons on the right earcup control music, calls, and voice commands (like Siri® or Google Now). Sometimes I fumble with on-ear controls like these, but B&O included a clever design touch. There's a raised bump on the center button, so you can quickly locate the correct button without having look at it.

Great headphones, lightweight with excellent sound reproduction. while lacking noise reduction, these are meant for reproduction of the sound and not blanking out sounds...
