About the Accele CR-101SS-20

Buck Pomerantz

Solder and seal via heat gun

This waterproof butt connector from Accele features low-temperature solder that bonds wires together strongly, along with heat shrink tubing loaded with hot glue, which creates a waterproof seal when heated. You slip a solder + shrink connector over one wire, twist the two stripped wire ends together, slip the connector back over the splice point, and heat it with a heat gun. The solder will melt and spread through the wire strands, the hot glue will melt to form a waterproof seal, and the shrink wrap will hold it all tightly together. Voila! You've got two wires connected together with a waterproof seal using nothing more than wire strippers and a heat gun. Warranty: 1 year.

Q
What temperature is required to melt the solder?
bryan  Sep 20, 2021
1 answer
A
I'm not sure of the temperature that is required, but I used a standard plumbing torch. Make sure never to leave it in one spot ever but move it around the site until the solder is melted ant the shrink wrap has shrunk. Also some of them the solder won't work and you may have to do it over, I had 3 out of 25 not melt at all even after the plastic melted. Best of luck and hope this helps

Q
Can you connect solid to stranded wire?

A
It would be best to connect only similar wires so stranded to stranded, and solid to solid

I am not sure, however I'd assume you could as long as the wire is the correct size, I have not used mine yet, when I made up my harness I soldered all the connection and then used heat shrink.
