Big mistake

Stay away from !! Bought this less then a year ago, had nothing but problems. Polk was great to work with, but unfortunately you can't fix crap. As of today I have two non working SRI wireless surround speakers, and a SECOND subwoofer not working. The only thing working is the soundbar. Loved it while it worked. I thought Crutchfield so only quality products, next time I will know better.

Unimpressive and Unreliable -- Polk MagniFi Max SR

We bought this soundbar in January of 2021. We hooked it up with HDMI ARC and the cables go through the soundbar. The surround sound and overall audio experience was not very impressive, but it was better than what we had before. Then we frequently experienced periods of silence & sometimes the video display freezing. It happened so often that we contacted Crutchfield & the tech had me go through several troubleshooting exercises with no success. I exchanged it for a new one which Crutchfield graciously offered due to the problems. The new one seemed OK for a while, but some of the similar issues started up again. I checked the wires and connections and all are updated and secure. We are likely beyond the return window, but we are to the point we are getting a new, better & more reliable Sound Bar/Surround/Subwoofer. I will not be purchasing Polk in the future. If it only happened 1 times, I would be OK. However both of the Soundbars that we have had are very unreliable and unimpressive. Polk Gets a Double Thumbs Down. However -- Crutchfield Rocks.

Cons: Poor Sound for the Money Spent Sound is not really full or immersive -- It is Just Average when it works. Unreliable & Spotty problems way too frequently (on both machines that we've tried)

I have had nothing but trouble with this sound bar system. Purchased June of 2021. The battery cover slides off every time I use it. I looses connection all the time. I have the best optical cable and hdmi cables on the market. I've called Crutchfield, was very surprised no one could figure out what was going on. They told me to call Polk which I did no solutions. I wish to Heaven I'd of returned it. Also wanted a sound set up with voice enhancement nope dosen't sound much better than the cheap Samsung I first bought. I'm shopping for a replacement sound set up. Very unhappy. I'd give it a -5 rating if I could

Really enjoying this system so far. Great bang for your buck with a decent amount of control and tuning within the system. I had a Sonos system previously and what annoyed me about it was how you had very little control over volume levels of various channels and speakers to suit the room or content you're viewing. With this you can adjust overall volume, bass, center channel, left right balance, and rear volume independently. All the adjustments are made on a -4 to +4 so you can't ultra fine tune it but it should be good for most people who want a good system they can tweak but aren't super high end audiophiles who want extremely precise adjustments. The only downsides are that only control method is the remote and it can be a bit wonky. Everything is done via a colored indicator light on the front of the sound bar, so you have to consult the manual to know what colors mean what audio signal or mode is being fed in. I learned them pretty quick but it's not a great system. Adjustments to volume and balance are done similarly with front indicator lights. That said once you do get the balance of speakers the way you like it the system has played extremely nicely with my TV and ARC passthrough on all my devices which alleviates that headache to some degree. All in all it isn't a perfect system that absolutely blows me away in every aspect but for the price it is extremely good and you definitely get what you pay for.

Cons: - Built in Chromecast is a bit wonky and you're better off casting to your Smart TV and letting it pass audio through to the speakers. - Indicator and mode lights are hard to pick up on and not intuitively clear how the interface with the remote so provides a bit of a learning curve - Bass is natively a bit boomy but was easily adjusted down

Love it! Switched to this after using Samsung soundbar and so glad I did. Love the various audio profile options..... 5 channel stereo is suoer nice. And the Bass! This thing rumbles the house and hits surprisingly hard! The surround effects during 5.1 movies and games is fantastic. Great value for the money.

Glitchier than I expected; some issues with Apple TV; not for music

I found setup straightforward, except that I didn't know to change my Apple TV 4K audio from "automatic" to Dolby 5.1. With that done, it syncs up correctly, though there is typically one or more very short (but annoying) dropouts at the very beginning of a show. I find the subwoofer too boomy for my taste, and that nixed my idea of using this for music playback. (Part of the reason I bought it was to drive it with Roon, which does work, though sometimes Roon couldn't wake up the system.) I had the popping sound others have reported, but fixed it by moving the sub away from the wifi router. Early on, I did have the crackling in the surround speakers that others mentioned, but it was minor and I haven't heard it recently. This is my first experience with rear speakers. They're OK, but I suspect you need side-firing speakers (and a room that supports them) before you can feel you're in the middle of an integrated soundscape. As it is, there's a point source in front of you and a point source behind you, which just feels gimmicky. If I were doing it again, I'd probably spend more money on a better soundbar and subwoofer and drop the rear speakers. I give this four stars because it was $100 off. Had I paid list price, I might have dropped it to three.

So far so good, after making sure the HDMI ARC was turned on it was like... WOW!! I even had to turn Down the back speakers, which usually Never happens with these wireless surround sound systems! The only downside is the dialogue/ voice amplifier on the sound bar isn't strong enough to hear the voices... Bummer! It's still a decent system

Awesome sound! Started with the Bose 300 sounder and was not happy with the overall sound, so decided to try this instead. I am so glad that I did! Absolutely incredible surround sound and very easy to set up! The remote has several options, give you the ability to adjust speakers individually or use their presets. Highly recommend!

Erratic, Plays TV sound or music beautify, then another time nothing. Will call for tech assistance on Monday. UPDATED 3/28/22: I originally gave the product a three-star review. We have since found our issues to be the result of a faulty connection, not the Polk unit. The sound bar sounds great, as does the surround sound. The speech control is a god send. At 70 and 73 years old, our ears are not what they once well. We are finding that control allows us to adjust the voice such that we no longer find ourselves "reading" dialog on CC. We enjoy the Movie setting the best. Our music (Bluetooth connection) works seamlessly, but better still, our 70/80s rock sounds better than we have heard in the past. Yes, there is occasional popping in the subwoofer, but we've learned how to eliminate it when it happens.
Pros: When working, the sound is excellent. Back channels are easy to adjust and balance. UPDATED 3/28/22: Sounds great. Speech adjust is a god send.
Cons: Plays Bluetooth music beautify, then next time nothing. UPDATED 3/28/22: occasional popping sound in subwoofer is easy to eliminate.

Awesome sound, when/if it works. No user interface so when it doesn't work,, I guess you just throw it away. Remote is crap, buttons are so hard to push to make work it's almost useless.

Owning both Bose 700 and 900 sound bars which I thought were perfection. Polks's sound bar base and back speakers are amazing louder then Bose much more honest sound then Boses. I now have moved the Polk to the living room which is bigger then the bedroom den the Polk was originally intended for. The Polk is louder and needed the bigger room. It's amazing how loud the back speakers are. I am liking the Polk in many ways better then my 2 Boses. Awesome the Polk is better or cashable sound quality to.my Boses for way less investment.

Cons: Not a fan of fabric covering colects dust. The only negative.

Got this soundbar as a gift for Christmas. Nothing but problems since. It feels like there is an issue with drivers or firmware. Sounds don't ever really match up to what they are supposed to be, like in an action sequence with voices, the voices will either be super loud and audible with background sound just being a muffled mess, or the background sound and music is blasting clear as day and the voices are drowned out. I find myself constantly messing with the settings on the remote from scene to scene trying to hear what is supposed to be heard with no success. I had a heck of a time getting the soundbar to connect to Google home, which is how you are supposed to receive firmware updates,because I figured my problems would be fixed with an update, but finally managed after 2 weeks of trying off and on. To my surprise, the update actually went through! Which caused even more problems that I didn't have before! Namely, my surround sound speakers now crackle and pop constantly which is unbearable! To the internet I went searching forums for a fix to these problems on this soundbar. All I manage to find out is that these issues have been going on for close to 4 years now with no fix. I plan on contacting customer support tomorrow to see what I need to do to return this product. I feel sorry for everyone that held onto their product expecting a firmware update fix for their problems, to realize 4 years later and out of warranty that there was no fix, and no return

I love this system. I have tried others and this is easy and sounds great. One of the best things about this is we are a bit older and it is hard to understand what people are saying because of the background sounds, but, with this system we can hear what they are saying and the other sounds too. Thank you for a great surround sound system and for it being easy enough for us older folks. Also, I called customer service for an issue with my remote and they were great to understand what I needed and solved the problem. If not for that I would have given it a strong 5 star review.

Good but not Great

I cheaped out and bought this instead of setting up a wired, dedicated 5.1 surround sound system that utilizes an A/V receiver, large speakers and a subwoofer. I wanted a soundbar system with surround speakers that worked well. They didn't need to be great, and I certainly didn't expect them to match a wired system. Polk makes a nice device, but it's far from stellar. Most disappointing are the surround sound speakers. They, along with the subwoofer, are difficult to sync. Once synced however, the problems didn't end. I routinely heard popping noises or other loud and annoying noises from the surround sound speakers. At this point I'm more likely to try a soundbar with phantom or reflective speakers built in. I've never heard good reports regarding wireless speakers, and this was no exception. The main sound bar itself is great; it has big, clear sound. The subwoofer, while a bit bloated, otherwise works fine. And the setup and installation works well too. I bought this unit specifically for its detached surround sound speakers and those were the first to fail. I have since reinstalled my A/V receiver and wired speakers. I have moved this sound bar from our family room to my office, where I will use only the main sound bar and the sub. I have a JBL bar 5.1 in our bedroom and it works far better in terms of its detached surround sound speakers. The Polk looks nicer and has been fit and finish, but it's surround sound performance is terrible.

Well like a lot of others that purchased this sound bar, I am experiencing popping sounds coming from the sub. The sound bar is great and solved my problem with not being able to hear voice out of the TV speaker. Going to contact Crutchfield in the morning and see what can be done. I guess I will just unplug the sub until a solution can be found.

I don't give reviews, only read them, but had to do this one, because of the struggles I had with this sound bar. I had a polk SR2 that cost around 200 in my living room. It sound okay and was easy to hook up but wanted better,so moved it in bedroom, and sounds a lot better there for some reason. I got a yamaha 209, and was easy to hook up, but too much base and not any high or mid tones. Returned it , and got this one. Hooked it up, and had hard time syncing rear speakers but finally did.They would cut off and on, work on movies, but not music channels or you tube. Tried but could not get dish remote synced .The power button, and mute on polk remote or box would not work so I had to unplug it to get it off and on.Called polk, and they had me do everything you could think of, and no worky. Then the volume started going all the way up on it's on every 3 or 4 minutes! Called polk again, but no worky. Called Crutchfield, but no worky. Also could not get it paired to my phone for the updates.Out of the blue my dish remote started working the volume.About ready to return it and I finally discovered how to pair it with my dish hopper set box, and BINGO! It sounds great, and everything works like it should. I have sound from my rear speakers on every channel. The surround sound makes all the difference!

I've only had the product for one day, but I have to say I'm VERY impressed. The sound quality is excellent. It looks nice and is unobtrusive. The whole thing took maybe 15 minutes to set up, including rearranging other equipment. This thing will get LOUD and shake the house. I assume the max volume setting is 100. I'm currently watching the TV at level 40 and it's comparable to the previous max volume. The upgrade over our previous stand alone sony sound bar is exponential. So far I couldn't be happier with the purchase. Unless something drastic changes, this purchase is an absolute no brainier if you're looking for a system in this price range.

Truly Amazing

At first, I thought it would be a bit of a challenge (being an older person with dementia). But, after an hour and a half or so, I got it working perfectly (at least in my own mind). Truthfully, our son came over and put it together as well as tweaked the system and all that in under 30 minutes. And it's an amazing system for the price! The clarity, the bass, and the center sound in cinema/ movie mode...truly awesome. Check it out for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

The main speaker sounds great but the rear speakers do make a popping sound. Apparently, it only happens while watching certain content. I was given the option to return but have to pay a fee of usd50 plus I have to buy a box since I do not have the original.in my opinion, I should not have to assume a loss on this product. I would not recommend!

I bought this to replace a YAMAHA YAS107 in the master bedroom that lacked the hdmi inputs that I needed. Setup took several hours and was fairly easy. it paired easily with the AT&TTV remote. The sound is excellent and fills the 18x15 ft. room with cathedral ceilings without a problem. There is no problem (so far) with popping sounds from the rear speakers that some reviews have noted. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Excellent true surround sound. Replacing a Sony HT-ST9. I bought this Polk product for a better TV experience with minimal equipment, wires and to solve my issue with a open floorplan. This product delivers on all points. Super simple install, with everything included. Connecting to a 3 1/2 year old Sony TV with ARC was literally a plug in and play with zero issues. Voices are clear, movies sound awesome with surround speakers. Fully and easily adjustable TV/movie sound to suit your tastes and space.

I bought this for my parents that are hard of hearing, it's the perfect answer to helping them here the tv. It really sounds great, the two speakers are in the back of the room and so ez to set up. Love the wireless sub and speakers, really completes the system. Very nicely packaged. I used the optical wire that came with it. A great improvement over the speakers in the flat screen tv.
Pros: Love the slim sound bar looks great, and lots of options to hook up the unit to your device. Great remote rear wireless speakers and sub.
Cons: I have heard more powerfully systems that are very dynamic. But the all package deal with wireless speakers and great sound all around was the selling point for me.

The Polk Magnifi MAX SR is a great home theater sound bar system. Easy to setup. It is well built and is easy to remove from the packaging. Best bang for the buck. Could not be happier. Had bought this as a Christmas gift for may daughter and her family. This is the second unit I had bought. I own one myself. As a side note, Crutchfield was great. Easy to order and received it in 2 days as promised. Great company to buy from.

It would have been nice to have google home installed. I have the lesser model soundbar for my other tv, it has alexa installed. Although the alexa has been giving me trouble, I have google home at my other house and it works fine.

Was expecting a very reliable quality product, not so sure that's what I received. As I have come to find out, this system has issues with popping sounds in the sub woofer and the two wireless surround speakers. The issue seems to show up when the volume is at or below normal listening levels, but there is supposed to be an update that is downloaded while the system is connected to the internet. It is supposed to do any updates automatically, however I don't think it is working, I am constantly connected and yet the issue still happens periodically.

Cons: The remote is a bit sloppy and slow to react. And not enough visual Operations.

I'll preface this by saying I'm not a hardcore audiophile. I spent a LOT of time researching 5.1 systems that would meet my needs so not to break the bank and still provide an optimal listening experience. My biggest concern was obtaining a SR experience without having to contend with running a ton of wires. I reviewed my options with Taylor. He provided me with unbiased professional guidance based on my needs. I decided on the Polk Audio MagniFi MAX SR. The setup and connection to other devices was incredibly easy. It provides enough flexibility in the settings to adjust to my listening area. It sounds awesome!! I have not experienced any buzzing or clicking from any of the speakers as identified in other reviews. My only complaint and it's a small one. There is an occasional sound delay of several seconds when flipping channels or going from a streaming service from DISH. I'm still trying to zero in on the cause. Bottom line the sound bar and rear speakers deliver a clean crisp sound. The subwoofer thumps as needed. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Upgraded my old sound bar to this system. This works perfect for our living room as we needed a wireless set up and the voice control sound adjustment makes all the difference in hearing the voices. We use Bluetooth to connect to the Echo and stream music, which also sounds great. I highly recommend this Polk sound bar system as a big improvement over basic TV sound or in my case the old sound bar.

just got it. not easy to set up due to issues. conflicting info from manual to tech support. No sound coming out of surround rear speakers after being synced. Not real happy. No real descriptiot of all the remote functions. However, there is Good sound coming out of sound bar and Sub. Hoping this is an isolated issue. I may be returning item if issues can not get fixed

The sound is great but when the movie or show is pauses the sub makes a lot of loud pops and crackling noises. It sometimes does it when something is playing. Its rather annoying and looking for a solution to this problem. Besides that everything sounds fine.

We had a Yamaha 1000 and it was good. After 5 years we got the Polk and were astonished at the clear dialog! My wife loves the wireless surround speakers and subwoofer. I love the rich sound for action movies and being able to understand BBC shows using the dialogue enhancer.

Clean sound, few wires and easy to install. Attempted to use Bluetooth as the primary connection to Apple TV, but Apple requires frequent re-pairing, so opted for optical connection instead. All the optional connection wires were included and instructions helped ease the process. Highly recommend as a mid-tier, yet full featured system. Great value for the dollar.

This is my third soundbar system by different manufacturers. The others had problems just losing connections or having problems connecting was hard time. So far, this Polk system is rock solid. Comes on each time with the tv and connects immediately! Sound is fantastic! Bass can rattle dishes if you want and the best feature is the voice enhancement! Finally able to watch movies without the sub text on. I would recommend this system!

I am very pleased with this soundbar. The sound quality is excellent, The subwoofer is very good. The rear speakers blend very well with the overall sound. It integrates very well with my Samsung TV and existing remote. Aesthetically, it blends very well and looks quite nice.

So I never owned anything Polk audio prior to this. This was thee absolute best surround sound/ audio purchase ever. Dear God! This bass hits and it sounds awesome. The machine gun fire hits and it's awesome. I can adjust to whatever kind of movie we're watching. If I had to put a surround sound in every room, it would be this one. Even if it was a 10 bedroom house I would still invest in it.

Great sound for the price! Bass sounds great not too overpowering and surrounds are nice and clear. An occasional pop can be heard from the surrounds but not often enough for concern. Very clear dialogue when watching TV and movies, very satisfied!

Thought there would be a delay on the rear speakers, this has not been an issue. Love the sound. Had a Bose Cinemate II that got killed in a lightning strike. This system sounds better to me. Super easy setup and operation. If you don't want to use the system, just turn it off and your TV speakers will start working on their own. Don't think you can find better for the price.

A Happy Indecisive Sound Bar Buyer

Oh my ! What a decision. I have purchased several OLEDs, 4K video, 4k blu rays and many other products with no problems. Making a decision on a sound bar was frighting. Every time I thought I had made a decision my feet turn cold. Finally, after speaking with a large number of Crutchfield's reps. I elected to go with the Polk Max SR. While I was intending on heading toward Dolby Atmos, it seems that after much discussion, it wasn't going to work in my Large A-Frame home. I compared specs on every sound bar made. Finally a tentative but final decision... Now for the good news, So far I'm pleased with Polks surround sound system. Happy with the performance and easy setup. Hope to have more of an update in few weeks, but for now I want to say thanks ALL the sales personnel for their help and time. With DTS/ Dolby Atmos it would have received all 5 stars.

Love Crutchfield for the fast friendly and speedy delivery. Very happy with the Polk Audio Magnif MAX SR system. The 5 in 1 center is very well balanced. The voice is very clear without being tinny. You are able to volume up and down for the speakers. The rear speakers are excellent and have my husbands approval which is important. The quality of the Polk is exceptional. We have tested other brands. Easy homeowner install.

Extra Speakers Have Issues

I bought one of these on the strength of an earlier purchase of the smaller version without the extra speakers. Unfortunately, when watching tv with these speakers as my sound, strange electronic crackles and pops come out of the extra speakers. They are within 10 feet of the main module, so it shouldn't be happening. I have had to unplug the extra speakers to have acceptable sound. I like Polk audio, but this was a disappointment.

Cons: Extra speakers make weird electronic sounds and crackles, even though close to the main module. Had to be unplugged.

I bought two full soundbar based surround systems at the same time (both through Crutchfield), this Polk and the Harman Kardon Citation system. I have not listened back/forth as a critical test, but I think it's important to say that FOR THE PRICE the Polk is fantastic. I had some of the difficulty setting up the surround channels that others have spoken of, and even some popping. However, after some (annoying) reboots everything is working well. Again, this entire system costs less than the Harman Kardon sound bar without the surrounds and sub. We have a large master bedroom and the Polk (now that I have it all set up) is terrific for this use. The sound is better than many in a similar price range in my view, the bass is better than expected for a somewhat light feeling sub, and the surrounds (once wrestled into working) add a new dimension in that virtual surround simply cannot match. The voice level helps, though feels like just an EQ boost and is a bit gimmicky, but no harm done.
Pros: Solid sound, miles better than a TV and quite a bit better than many cheap bars (in my view), the option of surround sound differentiates it at this price point

Solves the solution of getting great surround sound where you are limited in terms of having wired speakers. Sound is very accurate. Looked at many other solutions but by far this is the best value unless you want to spend thousands. So far- extremely happy with this purchase. Awesome sound- especially when watching a current movie with Dolby Digital, etc. On the con side, takes time to get the volumes correct for each speaker- for all programming and music ( partly due to the signals in being so different from program to program) Lack of multiple standard modes is the only reason it gets 4 and not 5 stars. I say buy it!
Pros: Setup in minutes, Great sound, Incredible value. Pairs with TV remote automatically. Bluetooth connectivity is great so it can be used to play anything that is playing on the iPhone.
Cons: Center Bar could use some more power. Would love to have an equalizer. Would be nice if it had some more standard decoding settings I.E. Matrix surround sound.

Great sound and bass. The connectivity options are great! Setup was also easy. Only reason this isn't 5 stars is the occasional chirping/squeaking that comes from the surround speakers. I find this seems to be a nonissue when I have the surround volume turned all the way down, so I typically keep them turned off unless I'm watching something I really want the surround experience for. I've actually owned two of these (returned the first for the chirping and a price reduction) but both systems did it.

The sound quality on this is great. I had a cheaper soundbar and had difficulty understanding what bead being said. With the Polk sound bar I can tell a huge difference. I got it while it was on sale which made it even better. The rear speakers aren't that noticeable. I may just need to adjust the volume on them. I known they work because sometimes I find myself thinking where is that noise coming from. The subwoofer sounds great. I like the ability to adjust the volume on it. I am able to turn it down enough. it is not overpowering but still sound good. I would definitely recommend this to someone.

This is by far the best and easiest system that I have set up. The sound quality is very good and adjustable for my room. I like the movie mode and music mode. The wireless connection is fantastic. we can switch between sources, as it is a "last in" source. When you turn on the TV the TV audio takes over. Very Cool. I have have two other systems that I now wish I had bought the POLK MagniFi Max for. Can't stress enough....Great Sound, Great Price, Easy Setup and Easy adjustments. Very intuitive.

A compact, high quality system that delivers great sound and true wireless (other than power) surround sound. This unit fits the bill for your living room or den. It has crisp, clear sound, and the center voice channel makes dialogue easy to understand. No more "What'd he say?" Bass response is strong and adjustable to your liking. The "music" setting is not so hot but the other settings for movies or sports fill that gap well. Poor reviews about crackling are more a case of poor source signal or being too close to a source of interference (one person suggested too close to their WiFi router). A little adjustment in placement and confirmation of syncing is the answer. I love this system over my old Bose. My advice: Buy it from Crutchfield. Great service and price. Beats the other guys.

Overall pleased with the sound quality from this unit. Obviously there are better systems available but for TV listening and occasional music streaming it is enjoyable. All the connections worked flawlessly...wireless speakers, Bluetooth and Chromecast. Centre channel voice control is a useful feature.

Cons: Changes via the remote control results in little flashing multi coloured lights on the sound bar which are confusing.

First of all, I returned the item. Why did I return it? The rear speakers kept making a "chirping" sound. Let me say this, I regret having to have returned this item. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with Polk speakers. When the rear speakers weren't chirping, the sound was great; full range of sound. I wish Polk had a firmware fix that would have taken care of this problem. I bought a different soundbar which, although more expensive than the Polk, does not deliver the same sound quality.

Surprising Great Sound Unit

We had to replace our current Samsung Home Theater system with a solution that allowed for 4K and 3D movies to be played but these days, those types of units are either non-existent or too expensive for us. After doing some research on Crutchfield we decided to take a leap of faith and break out of our comfort zone by replacing one unit with 2 units that would accomplish what we needed and I'm glad to say, so far we have not been disappointed. The Polk Audio MagniFi MAX SR unit was almost too easy to set up but including hanging the soundbar on the wall, it may have taken us about 10 minutes (the Samsung we had took over a half hour just to set it up and configure things (we didn't hang the surround speakers)). But the greatest surprise came when we first heard it's sound. Honestly, we had never had better sound and for the first time, we heard sound out of the surround speakers. The remote makes the system very controllable like if you want the surround speakers louder or change the balance from left to right. There are three buttons you can press to set the sound mode between music, sports, and movies/TV. It's not a very big remote but it's more sensibly laid out than others we have had (and we have quite a few). Bottom line: if we knew someone (including family) was in the market for really good sound system to watch TV or listen to music, we wouldn't hesitate telling them to head to Crutchfield's site and buy the Polk Audio MagniFi MAX SR system.
Pros: Love the physical looks of the unit, easy set up, great sound and surround sound.
Cons: Would be nice if there was a way to see current settings on the screen and not just the soundbar itself. (Nice but not important...just being lazy :-) )

Sound is better than I expected. Only issue I have is when used with HDMI ARC there is a 15-20 sec delay when fast forwarding during DVR events and when switching between channels (like swapping while watching multiple football games.

Very easy to setup. Took a while to adjust levels and balance for my room, but sounds great when clicked in. I recommend lowering bass level, as default setting is a little hot. Doesn't match up to my dedicated home theater, but the cost is a fraction of what I spent for the equipment there. GREAT value.

Love the sound bar when it work. First unit I got surround speakers start cracking popping sound after few months of use. Second unit replacement sub woofer start making rumbling noise after another few months and now the surround speakers are acting up. Waiting for 3rd replacement and the unit is backorder. ?????

This is a great sounding system! I had read some people's reviews claiming there wasn't enough bass or other sound issues, they must have been setting it wrong. I have no issues at all, when I want it loud with a lot of bass I turn it all up, when its night time and people are sleeping I turn on night mode, problem solved! As I have found to be the norm with Polk products throughout the years, the same goes for this system, absolutely great and no complaints at all!

The surround speakers are wireless. They would not stay connected with the Soundbar. They were losing the connections with the BAR. The sub woofer was doing the same. I talked to Polk. They're supposed to call me, they have not. I have to call them. 3 times. They could not resolve the problem. I returned the product back.

My wife said "no wires across the room" and I didn't want to fish the walls but I really missed true surround sound. Now I have it back and the sound is excellent. I feed the sound bar from the TV using the optical audio cable only so the sound is whatever the TV is seeing instead of feeding the TV from the sound bar via the HDMI(ARC) given where I have the TV installed over my fireplace. I like the quality of the sound and the control I can have over it.
Pros: Excellent sound, easy setup, easy use.
Cons: I do wish it kept me informed as to which setting I have it on with the lights instead of only when I change it.

First of all Crutchfield got it to me in the 2 days like they said. This thing came in it's own retail box, so I am glad I was home when it got here. Major advertisement of what would have been on my porch. It was packaged incredibly well. This system is so easy to set-up it's crazy. The quality of the sound and the number of features is incredible for this price. The wireless surrounds and the wireless woofer connected immediately on their own. The setup of the wifi through Google Home was easy and fast, the bluetooth was smooth just like any other bluetooth device. This thing has some bass! I listened to 10 mid-range to upper end soundbar systems at a local store. NONE even came close to this one. I had planned to buy a cheaper system for half the price, but once I heard this one, I could have never settled for less.

Cons: Had to pay the price for this one because after I heard it, no others compared.

Great Overall Product

Overall a great sound bar for the money. I was able to setup via HDMI ARC to my Sharp TV which supports HDMI CEC. So my TV and my Comcast cable remotes can control sound, and the volume level is displayed on the TV as it had been before the sound bar. Considering the low cost of the system, the sound it is very good. Furthermore, you can really tweak the sound to your liking as there are volume controls for the subwoofer, the surround speakers, voice, and overall. And the different modes for Movie, Sports, Night, and Music make a discernible difference. As others noted in their reviews, the Night mode is particularly useful in quieting the system while keeping the dialog of a show very understandable. In fact, when I used the built in TV speakers the sound was distracting to others in the house while being hard to understand for those watching TV. With this system, it can actually be quieter in the other rooms while more impactful for those watching. In terms of negatives, I think the physical design of the unit has some limitations. It's designed to look great placed on a table in front of the TV. But in my case I mounted it underneath my TV using a mounting bracket from Mounting Dream that allows the soundbar to connect to the TV's VESA holes. The bar doesn't use a keyhole system, but uses some small brackets which require two screws per side. I got it to work fine, but both aesthetically and functionally it's not as good as other bars for under TV mounti
Pros: Sound tweaking via remote, 3 input HDMI's with ARC, CEC and 4K support. Good sound. Night mode. Great pre sales support from Levi at Crutchfield! Wireless surround and subwoofer make install easy.
Cons: Better for table top placement rather than mounting under a TV. Polk support said the bar had keyholes on the back when it did not. But was still mountable under the TV using the brackets provided and a soundbar mounting bracket.

Amazing sound in an easy package

Pros - Sounds absolutely amazing. I mean really amazing. In my opinion can't be beat for the price. It literally shakes my house and is very clear and crisp. Easy set up. Movie/sport/music modes work fantastic. Chromecast built in works excellent especially as I have chromecast whole home audio. Cons - no way to mount the soundbar, the remote being able to control other devices is nice but would be nice to be able to be turned off as sometimes the remote ends up turning something off I did not want turned off. Sometimes takes a little long to reconnect to source once switched to a different source. For example switching back over to take over my tv audio if it has previously been used for say HDMI couputer input. I do suspect this may be my tv though.

Excellent, robust sound for the price point that is at. Polk does a wonderful job with various adjustment options to ensure clear dialogue without sounding too artificial. The subwoofer and rear speakers do not skip a beat with no lag whatsoever from what I can hear, and provide fantastic low frequencies from the subwoofer, as well as great ambient, subtle sounds from the rears. I watched Blade Runner 2049 in 4K HDR and was blown away by the punch that this set up produced, and I didn't even have to push it to maximum potential. If you're in the market for a 5.1 system that has minimum wire maintenance without giving up sound quality, I say go with this product.

Neat surround effect, NOT good for music

I purchased this with the recommendation of a Crutchfield employee. This soundbar has an always-processed sound that widens the frontal soundstage. That widening is effective for movies (usually) but is both distracting and non-preferred when listening to music. I was listening to a live recording of a female vocalist, and because of the ambient crowd sound and reverb, the vocals were hardly discernible. My iPhone speaker produced clearer dialogue in this example. Think of how music-heavy movies could be impacted by odd-sounding orchestra scores. This soundbar gets loud enough (more than loud enough) and setup was easy. DTS and Dolby Digital compatibility is very nice. The small surround speakers only need to be wired via the power supply. It did reliably stay connected to the network for Google music usage. Another Google-compatible speaker on my network often dropped off. I had this connected to an Oppo UHD player and LG Oled. Take it from an audio aficionado: Only use this for TV and movie viewing.

This is one of the few soundboard available with wireless surround speakers, so there isn't much to compare it with. It's better than similar Vizio models, for what it's worth. Setup was straight forward. Sound is good for a system at this price point, although I wish it were a bit more rich- sometimes it can sound slightly tinny. I'm happy with my purchase overall, but I do wish the sound was just a little better.

When it works the way it is supposed to it performs very well. Very unfortunately it does not always work as it is supposed to. The speakers have static and occasionally the is a loud bang sound. If the speakers are cycled on and off (disconnect the plug) it again works until the problem comes back again. Is it related to the 4 month delay in release ?
Pros: When it's working correctly it is very good.
Cons: It does not always work correctly. All speakers must be powered off and then on again to fix the problem temporarily.

Probably is my unit but I have experience issues with the subwoofer and the satellite speakers disconnecting randomly, even after using different inputs, cables and TVs. Sound quality is not there, no differences between highs and lows. The "center channel" is a great idea on a sound bar but the left and right are so muddy that is just confusing. The subwoofer and the satellite speakers, when they work, are adequate for this system no overpowering, I will say they are the best part of this system. Good idea but disappointed with the product.
