Overview: The GSC 10 Speed/Cadence sensor monitors your pedaling cadence and/or your speed as your ride. It measures and reports the pedaling strokes per minute, or the rotation of your tires, and reports the data wirelessly to your compatible Garmin device.

Functionality: The GSC 10 uses magnets to monitor your pedaling cadence or your tire rotation (to calculate speed). The monitor/transmitter is mounted on the bicycle's chain stay. If you wish to monitor your pedaling cadence, a magnet is placed on the crank arm. When installing, the pedal magnet is aligned with the magnet in the monitor/transmitter. If you are monitoring speed, the magnet is placed on a rear wheel spoke and aligned with the monitor/transmitter. Each time the pedal or spoke passes in front of the monitor, a pulse is recorded in the monitor, and wirelessly transmitted to your Garmin device. The speed monitoring device uses your tire size to accurately calculate speed.

ANT+: ANT+ is a wireless technology that allows certain accessories to communicate with a fitness device. ANT+ sensors generally work within 10 feet of the unit. In addition, an increasing number of health clubs and fitness centers have ANT+ compatible equipment in their facilities, so you can use the same accessories separate from your device.
