Control and monitor your amp's signal from the front seat

Rockford Fosgate's PLC2 wired remote allows you to control the volume of your Punch amp that's equipped with the C.L.E.A.N. (Calibrated Level Eliminates Audible Noise) setup system. From the driver's seat, you'll be able to adjust the amp's output level and monitor its incoming signal for distortion.

After using C.L.E.A.N. technology to set your amp's gain, just keep an eye on the PLC2's light. It'll turn red when the musical source is distorting, warning you to turn the receiver's volume down before your speakers or subwoofer suffer any damage.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate PLC2 is a wired remote level control, compatible with select Punch series amplifiers. Once the gain control on the amp is set, the PLC2 can attenuate (turn down, not increase) the level from that point, up to -20dB.

LED: The PLC2 features a built-in dual purpose LED; it lights up when the amplifier is powered on, and mirrors the Input Clip indicator on the amp when using the CLEAN setup procedure. The unit also includes an external LED, used when mounting the PLC2 unit without its housing.

Installation: The PLC2 includes cables and mounting hardware for installation. The wired remote can be mounted in a variety of ways:

  • Outside Panel Install: the PLC2 module is surface mounted in its housing, using the included mounting bracket and two mounting screws
  • Panel Install with Front Housing: the PLC2 and the front of the housing are removed from the body of the housing, and flush mounted in the dash; rotary knob extends approximately 5/8" from the dash
  • Panel Install without Front Housing: the housing is completely removed and just the rotary knob's shaft is mounted through the dash; in this case the external LED is mounted separately

Q
Can I turn the sub off by turning the level all the way down? Or at least to a minimal level to where I can just pretty much just hear the cars speakers?

A
Greetings Andrew, and thank you for your question. This level controller can be adjusted to 0db which essentially would be nom volume.

Q
How does a person monitor the output signal with the remote knob...? To me that seems more important to know than input signal....
ryan  Apr 02, 2023
1 answer
A
Unfortunately, that wouldn't be the way that the remote knob would work. Its only function is to reduce the input signal strength. This is a fairly standard operation for these types of knobs across various brands.

I no longer have the volume knob that came with my Rockford Fosgate P300 powered subwoofer. Will this work in it's place?

A
Hi, to my knowledge this Rockford Fosgate knob control works with a vast majority of Amps & powered Subwoofers in the Fosgate line of product. It should plug rite into your port.

Q
Is it possible to run 2 P500x1 amps with one Remote control??
jason  Mar 19, 2017

A
No one control for each amp. Unless you were to splice the cords together for one control.
zachary  Mar 23, 2017
A
I'm pretty sure you can just connect the two amps together via the PLC outputs
caleb  Mar 22, 2017
A
I Would advise against it, more than likely overload the control.

Q
Will this work on the R500X1D amp? It has an RJ-45 port on the back of it so I would assume so, but I'm not sure

A
I Would imagine so. Mine actually did not work, I believe my cable was bad. I just haven't taken the time to pull the wire back out and send it in for a replacement.

Q
Will this work on the Rockford Fosgate P1000X5 ?
ron  Dec 06, 2014

A
I can only repeat what I stated in my review of this product. I installed it with the RF 1000X5 several months ago. For whatever reason it has minimal effect on the output of the amp. If you really focus on the sound while turning the control you can hear a very little raise and lower of the volume min to max. Nothing else. Also, using the PLC-2 to make adjustments (per instructions) resulted in terrible sound and did not work at all with bass adjustment. I went back to the adjustments made by ear. Finally, I would have sent it back for credit but had to punch a hole in the face plate to install and the light is pretty. From my experience I find this piece of equipment useless with the 1000X5.
edward  Dec 08, 2014
A
The newest one out should work .. They want you to buy new products so old style will not work on newer amps ..
james  Dec 08, 2014
A
It will work on any of the new series amps . I add's extra hard bass at the spin if the dial when you need to impress or just want to feel more power then normal. I've got the new amp with the light controls on the amp it will interface with the light controls so you don't have to look at the amp when pushing too much power for too long. So it won't blow your amp. Cost a lot to keep replacing equipment .
david w  Dec 07, 2014
A
I would assume so, however, I just recently installed it in my truck and am getting no response from the amp. I will be checking with Crutchfield support to see what the problem is.
