“I've been purchasing equipment from Crutchfield for a few years, and I've worked with a number of Advisors, but I've got to give well-deserved credit to Kevin today. I purchased an SVS SB-3000, which I assumed would be loud enough for my two-channel stereo given that it was replacing a Klipsch SPL-120, which had 500 fewer watts than the SVS, but still did a very respectable job. But when I got the SVS, it would not play loud enough, particularly at low volumes, where the bass would completely disappear, even when I put my ear to the sub (my integrated amp has stereo subwoofer outs that are apparently very low voltage). So I was faced with upgrading to a 100+ pound sub (no thank you) or somehow upping the signal from the amp to the SVS. Kevin was spit-balling and came up with an idea: How about I try running the signal from the integrated amp to a phono stage, then to the SVS? (carefully volume-wise). Well, I just so happened to have an extra phono stage: a Bellari VP 130 mk2 (which has output control). I plugged the amp to the Bellari to the SVS, and it worked amazingly. Not only did it give the SVS the much needed signal boost, but I now have more control over volume and can even mute the bass. Bravo, Kevin. And my back thanks you for sparing me the 100 lb.+ sub.”
