First time installer's review
Crutchfield customer from Saint Albans, WV on 2/23/2020
2010 Kia Optima
This was the dash kit I was sent for my first time install, installing the Dual XDMA760BT that I purchased from Crutchfield. For the most part, the kit is pretty easy to figure out how to install, however, I give it four stars because it's not entirely clear about the fact that you have to remove the hard plastic tabs on both sides of the thing that are meant for other model of Kias. Or how you should go about doing this. Some people suggest hot knife, or a dremel saw/removal tool, I ended up using a pair of pliers and brute force.
Pros: Cheap(It was free with car stereo purchase), decent instructions with the exception of my con
Cons: As I described in the review, the plastic tabs on the sides are a pain

You need this. The only reason for 4 stars is that mine arrived broken and I had to glue. Loctite makes a great hard plastic adhesive. It has a primer marker that they call the activator but you use it to prep/clean the surfaces, then use the glue. Works very well. Also, the bezel didn't snap in and oddly it would have looked better than the original. Other than that, you need this.

Factory look, good fit
Stephen from Greenville, SC on 4/5/2017
2008 Kia Sedona
I used this dash kit to install a single din CD receiver in the place of a double din factory unit in my Kia Sedona. The instructions on prepping the kit were straight forward with a bit of study of the pictures. Some tabs had to be removed for the particular fitment to this vehicle as per instructions, so I used a Dremal tool with a cut off wheel which worked well. I was concerned about breaking the plastic during the install, but it held up to the manhandling. The fit was good and looked factory when completed. The slot below the receiver comes in handy for holding discs.
Pros: simple, straight forward kit

Terrible for a Kia 2006 Spectra
Jane from south bend, IN on 2/2/2016
For a 2006 KIA spectra this bracket isn't very good. You basically have to take off almost everything on it before it fits. Such a hassle and there must be easier brackets on the market. I would NOT recommend it. The directions and descriptions of this product are not clear at all and it would have been nice to know this before I bought it and spent a long time in the car scratching my head. Oh yes... and I don't have a saw....

2005 Kia Spectra EX Factory Stereo Replacement
Jeff C from Oklahoma City, OK on 6/23/2014
2005 Kia Spectra
Excellent value for the kit. The installed kit looks very nice with the dash as the contours match really well. I used the trim plate with the kits instead of my head unit as it looked better. Prepping the kit took much longer than any other kit has ever taken me.
Pros: Excellent value for the price and it looks great in the dash.
Cons: Prep time took a while as there are many tabs for the different models the kit is for that have to be removed. Some of the tabs were hard to remove because placement can be very close together. Also hard to get some tools in there to trim off the tabs. Would definitely recommend using a handheld rotary tool with a small cutting wheel like a Dremel.

We were able to install the stereo using this kit, but my husband was very frustrated. It was very cheaply made plastic, and not an exact fit - he had to use additional tools to trim and shave the plastic to fit in my dash. The fit it almost too tight, the faceplate takes some effort to get off.
Pros: Usable, does the job
Cons: Cheaply made, not an exact fit

Works, just works
Georg from Clearwater, FL on 2/9/2014
2006 Kia Spectra
I got this receiver install kit for a JVC head unit for my '06 Kia Spectra. In the end it all fit perfectly. Some assembly required though. As written by other reviewers, there are several plastic tabs that need to be removed to leave behind the one fitting your car. I used a Dremel-like device to saw off the plastic tabs not needed. Worked ok, though not too pretty. I chose this kit, because the Metra 99-7318 kit recessed the head unit too much for my liking.
Pros: - Head unit relatively flush with dash
Cons: - Have to saw off 2x three or four plastic tabs to fit your car: requires extra tools to do so. - Storage pocket has holes in the bottom. Why? Can't put small items in there or they'll disappear in the car.

For KIA Spectra
jbaccus from California on 1/14/2014
2005 Kia Spectra
Used this to instal a JVC unit into my sons 2004 Kia Spectra. It worked great once we figured out which excess plastic to remove. This one turned out to be a little harder than the ones for Toyotas because there are I believe 4 or 5 car models that this one works for. And it has two different KIA Spectra tabs (each for a different model year configuration). So if you are using to install in a Spectra double check your model year to make sure you are removing the correct excess plastic. I also compared to brackets that were coming out with the factory radio just to make sure.
Pros:
Cons: So many different KIA vehicle model and year use for this one and instructions weren't the best print quality. So make sure to triple check before trimming excess plastic.

Works with some work
Aurinko from Seattle, WA on 10/29/2013
2006 Kia Spectra5
It does work as it is intended, but it does require user modification. The kit is made for a variety of different Hyundai/Kia cars with different stereo mounts. In order to use this kit, you have to saw off pieces to get the kit to kit your specific style of car. Luckily I have a dremel with a cutting wheel, otherwise I do not know how someone would cut off the extra pieces, I doubt you could just snap off the pieces. It is a bit of a hassle to get the kit modified to fit your car, which to me is a poor product design. After the kit is modified, it did fit my Spectra5 without any issue, fits in the dash well and looks fine.
Pros: Fits in dash Looks fine Has removable trim for larger faceplates
Cons: Needs modification to work (cutting off extra pieces of plastic)

Pros: Looks great making the installation look like it came from the factory

Not Even Close
Wrecksalot from Salt Lake City, UT on 5/3/2011
My Car is a 2004 1/2 Kia Spectra, the first of this generation, a mid-model-year redesign with the 2.0 liter engine, and I was sent this kit for it. I don't know if they just sent the wrong kit, or if the kit is labeled wrong, or what, but it was awful. The kit did not fit inside the hole in the trim piece, which is not a simple surround piece for the entire center stack as the pictures and instructions show, but is a much more complicated piece individually surrounding the different parts of the stack (stereo and shelf, vents, HVAC controls, flashers), and the shelf portion of the kit stuck out 3/4"+ and was not flush with anything. I ended up using the mounts for the stock stereo and drilling new holes to fit the new stereo. It may fit other years of this car, but it was not for mine. I don't know if the 2005 model is the same, but I would be cautious and search for a different kit, or just modify the available mounts.

Works after you figure out how to cut extra plastic tabs
styrum from Bellevue, WA on 2/15/2011
2004 Kia Spectra
Eventually it worked out fine for me. The main problem is that side walls of the cage have thick plastic tabs for different KIA/HYUNDAI models. You are supposed to remove the ones you don't need for your particular car somehow. The tabs are thick and close to each other. No way you can break them off with your hands! You either have to saw them off (if you have a saw suitable for this purpose) or do it the way I did: I took an old knife, heated on my gas stove and cut them off one by one. Man, that plastic smells! Make sure you have good ventilation and it's on while you are doing it in your kitchen. If your stove is electrical don't touch the burner with the knife when you already have some plastic stuck to it (one heating cycle is good only for one tab, so you will have to heat the knife multiple times). Even with those precautions prepare for you wife to be not very happy with the smell for quite a while even after you are done.

American International KIA-K1246 Dash Kit
Good product, but printed instructions are hard to read. Tabs need to be removed since the adaptor works for several different cars. Just find your car on the adaptor and saw off the rest of the tabs. Takes about 2 minutes to assemble. I downgraded it 1 star because the instructions are poor.

Works great, but be careful
Crutchfield customer from Chicago, IL on 2/17/2010
2006 Kia Spectra
After all was said and done, the kits looks great installed. Although, when installed on an 06 Kia Spectra, it adds a second pocket to the radio area, which does look a bit goofy as if Kia went overboard on pockets the way other manufacturers do on cupholders. But, at the same time, it's another storage place for the remote that came with the stereo... My kit had part of the plastic cracked, though it would be hidden. I used a soldering iron and clipped-off plastic to melt it back together. You can use the install sleeve that comes with the new stereo, or use included plastic pieces to use the ISO mounts of the stereo (better choice, allows for adjustable depth of the stereo face for a flush install). If you use the ISO mounts, though, it might tweak the trim piece off. Take caution when clipping off the unused mounting tabs. This kit covers several Kia and Hyundai models, and the instructions are decent. However, mine had revised instructions, so I spent some time comparing the two. The plastic parts also indicate which tabs to use...but in the case of the Kia Spectra, the 07+ models use different tabs than the 06-prior models, but both are simply labeled "Spectra". If you break off the wrong set, you'll need another kit or reuse the removable metal brackets from the factory radio. Pliers works better than side-cutters to break off the unused tabs.

Kia/Hyundai In-dash Receiver Kit
inphluence from Los Angeles, CA on 5/8/2007
2005 Kia Spectra
Crutchfield shipped this item and fast in a safely packaged box. As for the item itself, it does fit somewhat and it is quality plastic. The kit itself is not only for the Spectra, but also other Kia models. You will need some pliers to remove some plastic clips. This will need to be done gently otherwise you can possibly break some of the plastic completely off. I installed this in a 2004.5 Kia Spectra EX with my Pioneer 4900IB deck, but it required a slight modification. The kit itself will not be flush. The bottom tray sticks out about a .25". The top of the kit, above the reciever, needed to be cut off in order for the plastic surrounding to fit properly. I was a bit disappointed, but it does serve its purpose.
