You can read all their marketing for the positives. I'll just state all the negatives. - Doesn't sit flush with the climate controls on one side - Also seems to be too wide. - no option to put the radio on the bottom.

Perfect fit in my 2002 Nissan Maxima when installing my new Kenwood head unit, and color nicely matches dash interior. Assembly does require some work but that is expected. I don't get the negative reviews with complaints of the assembly. Was not that difficult. Just have some patience.
Pros: Factory finish look matching dash interior.
Cons: None that I can see.

The fit on this kit wasn't quite was I expected. It fit in the brackets ok, but the trim rings didn't fit around the Nakamichi NA87 that I installed in it. They simply were too small to fit around the unit properly, so there is a gap around the head unit. It's ok, just not great.
Pros: Easy installation in a 2000 Nissan Maxima, good color match to the dash.
Cons: Included trim rings were no use

BMace from Albany, NY on 3/3/2014

Used to replace Bose stero in a Maxima. Fit and finished look at about perfect. Very close color match and fit is near exact. Only issue was the screws in the existing brackets were machined for metal interface and I needed to use them in this plastic brackets. With a little pressure, I used them (not to difficult - for those complaining below!! ha) I hope the fine threads will hold-up over time... easy to strip the plastics bracket so be careful when installing. I saw that others had trouble getting the stock screws out of the original Bose stereo... same here!!! Even broke the tip clean off my Craftsman screwdriver! I used an impact driver after that and got them out... Again, A little more than standard effort.
Pros: Great fit and finished look
Cons: a few extra coarse screws might have helped... picky picky me

Pretty Straight Forward
Lenny from Eastern, Pa on 4/11/2013
2000 Nissan Maxima
The kit was easy to install. Other reviews state how impossible it was to get the 8 screws out of the old head unit. A simple tip is to take a 3/8" ratchet with a 1/4" socket and a Phillips bit in the 1/4" socket. I layed down a towel and I put the factory radio and the climate on its side. With firm pressure pressing down on the screw heads and a light twist of the ratchet they popped loose. No, you can not just use a regular Phillips or it won't work. With some pressure, leverage, and the right tip,it's works. I did not need to break out any power tools. Take this tip and run for the hills lol
Pros: Good fit, easy install, good instructions
Cons: Color is off but it is what it is. The generic black plastic look is a little off from the factory grayish trim around the vents and climate controls

Overall, not bad. However the factory screws that you need to re-use will not fit the holes in the kit brackets. I had to drill the holes out, making them larger. Also, as stated in some other reveiws...the factory screws are impossible to get out. I ended up having to drill almost all of them out.
Pros: Good look once installed in my sons 2001 Maxima.
Cons: Factory screws are very hard to remove from the factory brackets & do not fit the bracket holes on the kit.

LeeN from Dothan, Alabama on 12/10/2012
This kit is very nice. Everything you need all in one place. Very clean looking once completed. The color is a little bit off, but it's not really that obvious, and no one that has seen my install has even noticed it.
Pros: Clean, professional looking, appears factory
Cons: color is off a little, faceplate trim ring has a small gap and depending on the angle you look at the unit you can see a small part of the radio mounting sleeve.

kit is ok a little cheap but not bad where it wont work....the 8 screws on the bracket of the originial head unit from nissan are impossible to get off had to use a drill and remove them with an extractor bit....the directions make it seem you have to use at least 4 of these originial screws....they are wrong....use the 2 from your climate control and had to go buy 2 self tapping screws that fit the kit....wasted alot of time worrying about not having all the originial screws...the original screws dont even fit the kit...you think they would know this....like i said not bad but not great....alittle disappointed in crutchfield...tech support said oh you shouldnot have drilled the screws out...he had no answer for me ..real help...

Overall Very Pleased
DonnieH from Columbus, OH on 5/29/2012
2003 Nissan Maxima
2003 Maxima GLE with Bose. Kenwood KDC-X696. Overall I'm very pleased with the results of this kit and its installation. A panel tool made pulling the vent assembly and the console trim easy enough. Disconnecting the wiring harnesses was a slight challenge. As the other reviewer pointed out, loosening the side screws was nearly impossible. I stripped two screwdriver handles (would spin around the shaft). A t-handled screwdriver broke 6 of the 8 free, but the other 2 had to be drilled out. Since the HVAC screws come out easily, my recommendation would be to get a second set of the brackets and mount the new stereo in those. The instructions have you use the faceplate trim that comes with the kit. With my radio, that let you see into the mounting sleeve along the top and bottom of the radio. The original piece (that came with the Kenwood) had a better look and didn't leave those visible gaps. Putting everything back in, there's quite a bit of wiring that's hard to deal with cleanly. But everything went back in and is working very well. The kit looks very good in the car - very please with how well it fits in. Not perfect (color), but still very good.
Pros: Fit and finish is very nice - goes well with vehicle.
Cons: Instructions weren't clear on using provided screws to attach kit assembly to original brackets. Despite review here and a web page describing the problem, there was no mention of nor assistance for the extreme difficulty in removing the side screws attaching the brackets to the factory radio chassis.

Easy Install! Highly Recommended
DougL from Atlanta, GA on 7/28/2011
2002 Nissan Maxima
Crutchfield is awesome! Shout out to my advisor Doug. Their website is simple and easy to use and when I wanted clarification Doug was right there to provide it. He even recommended I upgrade to a $120 radio to get the install parts for free - - saved me money!! The Nissan Maxima mounting kit, wire harness and antenae worked perfect. Dead simple installation...a total novice could have done it. Getting the dash apart wasn't hard and there are great websites on line to walk you thru that, however, watch out for the screws holding the factory radio in place. I had to drill mine out - - a real pain! I suggest you dismantle your dash before ordering and if you can get the radio out you'll be able to install with Crutchfield parts in less than 30 minutes. Crutchfield is perfect, it is the factory Nissan screws that were a pain (btw, you don't need those screws to re-install so no worries if you ruin them). Fit and finish were good. Note, buy the steering wheel adaptor kit (extra $70) if you want to use your trip computer.

Excellent dash kit
Jonathan C from Bloomington, IL on 4/4/2011
2000 Nissan Maxima
One of the best fitting dash kits I've used. A lot of the kits available for the 5th gen Maximas are sub par at best, and the GXE double din factory dash kits are well over $100. For this price (if you buy it without a head unit) it's a steal, and if like me you got it included with the purchase of a Head unit, then there's no reason to consider buying from any other company.

Max stereo dash kit
John from Wilson, NC on 7/13/2009
2000 Nissan Maxima
I bought this for my daughter's 9 year old Maxima. For the age of the car and the way she keeps it messy, the dash kit did not detract from the car. The kit fit well and the holes lined up well enough to complete the job. I can understand someone with a much newer car wanting more quality, but I would not have changed the newer car's factory stereo unless broken. I must be getting old. New car stereos are sounding pretty good these days. Overall I am satisfied with my particular application.

Works, but mediocre quality
Joshua from Lancaster, PA on 10/30/2008
2003 Nissan Maxima
I used this to replace the head unit in my '03 Maxima with a Bose system. It works. But, in my opinion, it's kind of cheap looking, which doesn't fit with the Maxima, which is supposed to be Nissan's flag ship. You can dress it up a little bit to make it look better. I added some felt lining to the bare tray compartment, which helped some. I found that it doesn't line up EXACTLY with the climate control panel and the air vents above the head unit. It's not atrocious looking, just a BIT off, which bothers me because I'm picky. It may not bother some buyers though. I may be able to go back in and adjust it if I try hard enough, but I'm not sure I feel like it. Also, with my head unit, the trim frames don't fit. My head unit basically takes up the entire cut-out vertically, but horizontally there is still a small gap, and I can't use either of the trim covers. I guess that is more because of my head unit than this product. So yes, it works. It's worth buying. But Scosche really needs to upgrade the quality.

The top holes didn't line up on mine either, but they weren't more than half a screw diameter off. Not a big deal. Biggest problem I had was getting the 8 factory screws off the old receiver. Broke a drill bit and stripped just about every one of the screws with a manual screwdriver. Ended up drilling out the screws (took 4 drill bits) and using an easy-out. The receiver came with 4 replacement screws (Sony CDX-GT610Ui). There is a small (1/8") gap between the mounting kit and the environment controls. Also, my radio didn't line up with the vent panel after re-assembly. Will have to open up and tweak the mounting brackets a bit. Only had to call Tech Support once to find out about wiring. Both blue wires on the OEM v.4 adapter went to blue amp lead on receiver and leave the ant power from receiver unconnected. Both black wires from Bose connectors went to the single black wire on the receiver. Also left the orange wire on OEM adapter unconnected. Total project time was 4 hours because of the drilling and the trips to the hardware store to buy bits.
