This dash kit worked as advertised. Everything went together and it fit into the dash of my Forester. It took a little bending and pushing the plastic parts together, but they did match up. The kit fit into the dash and the screws went into the metal of the car. The head unit and bezel that came with my head unit matched up perfectly.
Pros: Works OK if you need to cover a double DIN hole, and hold your single DIN head unit.
Cons: There seemed to be something with the screws that didn't make too much sense (bad Chinese translation??).

This product worked for my 2011 Subaru Forester. The directions were clear but did not work as expected. It is actually easier to install (bottom storage piece) first to one of the sides and attached it to the fascia plate then attach the other side thus making it easier to click the storage piece in. Other than the directions this worked out great. Directions were my only complaint.
Pros: Fits as intended
Cons: Directions on putting together for single din use.

Laura from Elk, WA on 5/10/2022
2010 Subaru Impreza
This worked well, the radio fit well inside of the plastic surround, but the plastic bracket didn't really work I'm assuming it's for a single din radio where I installed a double din, the radio did just work with the stock radio brackets and was a perfect fit with the radio once it was installed. overall really happy with the installation.
Pros: -Worked -looks good -perfect fit -cheap (in price)
Cons: -plastic bracket didn't work with the radio (could be for single din, I didn't read the manual).

Jason from Grants Pass, OR on 4/18/2022

It fits great in the dash but is hard to assemble. You need a long thin small screwdriver to assemble this and the pocket in the bottom is very difficult to install. After finally getting the pocket in it took a lot of effort to get the tabs to fit in the side. I would recommend fitting the sides to the pocket first and then attaching it to the front plate. Putting this together took longer than taking the old unit out, wiring the new unit and putting everything back together.
Pros: Good fit in dash when done
Cons: Hard to assemble.

2010 Subaru Forester
Fits my 2010 Subaru Forester very well. The bezel that came with the radio wasn't used or needed. The finish of the plastic molding could be better. I wish the back of the cubbie didn't have features that make it harder to clean, i.e. the holes and fastening for the box. I understand from opinions on the internet that this is the best fitting bracket for my 2010 Subaru Forester. The back of the box and assembly make a great place to mount the steering wheel control adapter and place to tie up the wires for a neat install. I'd suggest using the pan head screws that came with the Subaru and not the flat head ones provided by Crutchfield. Flat head screws will destroy the thin web of assembly.
Pros: Cost and fit
Cons: Molding finish, features in the back of the cubbie box will be hard to clean. These features can be seen from the driving position in a 2010 Subaru Forester.

Not Recommended for use with a Double-DIN Head Unit
Crutchfield customer from Washington, DC on 7/12/2021
2014 Subaru Impreza WRX
Use with double-DIN units requires removing U-shaped ears on inside faces of the left and right side panels. Even after cutting off the ears using right-angle shears, the remaining stubs stuck up enough to cause the panels to bulge out and deform such that 1) it was difficult to thread in the short screws that attach the panels to the head unit, and 2) it caused mis-alignment of the side brackets with the bolt-holes in car dashboard. The remedy was additional re-work using a file or Dremel tool to grind off the remaining stubs to ensure a smooth and flush mounting interface between the side panels and the head unit.
Pros: Looks good once installed
Cons: Requires rework for use with a double-DIN head unit

I used this face plate bracket instead of the one that came with my new headunit because it fit very well and looks great. For double-din headunits you must break off the plastic tabs on the inside of the bracket. I had to additionally sand the plastic stubs down because they were sticking out so far the screws were too short. Other than that everything fit together very well.
Pros:
Cons: Additional sanding required for double-din units.

Crutchfield customer from Scotts Valley, CA on 6/15/2020

Annoying, a bit flimsy, but with "modification" it works. You need at least a 4in #1 phillips driver to reach attach the r/l sides to the front bezel, not something that is common at the local hardware store (75-80mm is available). I used a 6in long 1/4in hex shank driver bit and drilled out the access holes on the side plates. You also need to trim off the lower tray mounts if using a 2-DIN head unit. So additional tools/skill is required to remove those flush to the surface. I snipped them off with wire cutters and made them flush with a sanding wheel on my drill. Opening on bezel doesn't match well to my Kenwood.
Pros: works as "intended"
Cons: flimsy, requires modification to install, requires uncommon tools to do modifications

While it comes with a variety of screws some aren't long enough. Kit is for both single & double din. You have to break off a plastic tab for double din, which doesn't always make the side bracket flush..hence the problem with the screw length

Fits the car, but not the radio
Crutchfield customer from Old Saybrook, CT on 4/12/2019
2009 Subaru Impreza
Fitted in a Subaru Impreza Outback Sport 2009 so I could replace the dead OEM radio. The kit fits the car well, but the Axxera AD330 radio was a tight squeeze into the kit. I called technical support at Crutchfield (great service, btw!) who told me I had to remove some metal tabs from the radio unit (hmmm). Even after I got the unit fitted, the radio face plate is suppose to open down so that you can access the CD player. This kit blocked the face plate from opening. Despite multiple adjustments, the radio just does not fit properly into this kit. Very disappointed.
Pros: Fits teh car
Cons: Does not fit the radio!!

Terrible kit
Aaron from Deerfield, MA on 2/19/2019
2009 Subaru Forester
This is the worst dash kit I have EVER installed. There aren't enough holes on the side brackets so I couldn't bring my head unit out as far as I'd like it to be and the plastic feels cheap and bendy. The worst and most frustrating part about it is that the front bezel that goes around the head unit needs to be screwed into the side brackets. Sounds simple but the screw holes in the bezel are not threaded, the screws they provide are of very poor quality, and you need a very long and tiny screw driver to actually reach the little screws. I stripped two of the heads while trying to get them threaded in. All of the kits that I have installed just have little clips on the sides of the bracket for the bezel to clip into and there's no reason why this one couldn't be just like that. The only pros to this kit are; it fits in my car and it feels relatively sturdy once installed.
Pros: Pretty sturdy
Cons: Very poor design, flimsy plastic, poorly placed mounting holes

the concept is great, but they fail with the delivery. I purchased a Alpine unit with this kit, and if was very difficult to make fit correctly. the Alpine unit had a removable faceplate, and I'm not sure if they run a little larger than the standard. But it took several attempts and fighting with the kit to make it fit flush. Should have been a little bigger, more fogiving, then it wan. Almost impossible to get it to fit.
Pros: looks good, nice to have the storage cubby
Cons: way to small and tight, would not allow the Alpine head uit to fit propperly.

Good Dash Kit, put in '09 Impreza
Cole from Saint Charles, MN on 12/23/2017
2009 Subaru Impreza WRX
Fairly simple assembly. The stereo is secured with a screw in each side. The screws came with my stereo, not the dash kit. Glad I still had them, since this was a reinstall into a different vehicle and I never used those screws with the prior vehicle's kit. The screws pass through the notches in the sides of the kit, so you can slide the stereo inward or outward a bit for aesthetic adjustment, and then tighten the screws to hold it firmly in position. Easy to install in the dash, too.
Pros: Does what it should
Cons: None

This kit made the install of my head unit into a 2013 Subaru WRX simply, and it looks great. The plastic color matches very well with the bezel, giving it a professional look. The slots to pass screwdrivers through to assemble this are a great design feature.

It fits perfectly into the double DIN pocket left by the OEM stereo unit. BUT, I had to file off some of the "pocket" edging so that I could get a snug fit into the bracket.
Pros: Perfect fit into double DIN pocket.
Cons: Lower "pocket" had to be trimmed to fit snug.

Worked great with my 2012 Subaru Forester. I installed a double-din stereo; popped out the old stereo, 4 screws, and disconnected the wires, then put on the two side mounts and bezel to the new stereo, then screwed that back in place.Very easy to install and looks great! Comes with the lower pocket if installing a single-din stereo.
Pros: - Easy to install - looks great - came with online instructions (not needed for me)
Cons: - None I can think of so far

the brackets fit perfectly and were easy to install. The 4 star rating is for the extreme flimsiness of the upper and bottom outer framing. The plastic is so cheap and bendy that I feel that even just touching it might break the frame. Aside from this it does what it is supposed to do.

Perfect fit in my Subaru
Alex from Long Grove, IL on 4/11/2017
2013 Subaru Forester
Perfect fit for replacing the stock radio in my 2013 Forester. Used it for a single DIN, 2 screws on each side hold the radio securely. The only part that's a little tricky is securing the side panels to the front with the small Phillips head screws. Don't tighten them down until you snap the storage pocket in place (contrary to instructions), and you need a long screwdriver to be able to clear the side panel for the final turns. Alternatively, I used a jewelers screwdriver that fit right against the panel, pushed down on the end and tightened the screw by turning the driver with a pliers - took a few turns but worked great. Radio fit in very nicely and looks great in the dash, no gaps or misalignment with the trim panel.
Pros: Fits great in dash Holds radio securely Adds storage pocket
Cons: Tightening assembly screws a little tricky but doable

Average to sub par product.
Keith from Syracuse, NY on 3/25/2017

Combines this with my alpine touchscreen unit for my 2012 Forester. It was a double-din unit so the pocket was not needed. Also the mounting brackets were not needed because the factory brackets worked just fine. The faceplate spacer looks fine but is just a tad too big in the width which makes the factory faceplate not sit quite flush to the dash but isnt the end of the world.
Pros: Gets the job done
Cons: Fitment isnt quite right

This Dash kit when used with the Sony XAV-AX100 CarPlay Receiver makes it difficult to turn the volume knob, only allowing the user to turn it in half circle increments; it basically take away form the receivers functionality; not cool. This is because for this particular dash kit, the receiver is not forward enough to relieve the sides of the dash from blocking the usage of the volume knob. If the dash kit allowed the unit to be Brought forward more it would get 5 stars.
Pros:
Cons: Makes Volume Knob Functionality difficult on Sony XAV-AX100. Sits to far back with Sony XAV-AX100 as well.

Decent Dash Kit
Matt from Victor, ID on 2/28/2017
2010 Subaru Forester
I agree with other reviewers regarding the flexible plastic. Assembling this dash kit is difficult because of the small screws, limited space, and need for a screwdriver with a long shaft and small diameter head. The dash kit "stiffened" up when I installed the deck. My application required mounting the deck without the metal sleeve and trim ring. Once installed, the dash kit seems solid and looks nice in my 2010 Subaru Forester. Crutchfield shipped my order Next Day Air so it would arrive by the estimated arrival date without asking. They also included DIN screws, a wire harness, this dash kit, a antenna adapter, and installation instructions. Thanks Crutchfield!
Pros: Looks Great.
Cons: Flimsy Plastic. Difficult to Assemble.

How do you mess up something so simple?
Charlie from Denver, CO on 12/27/2016
2008 Subaru Impreza
This is just a sloppy manufacturing job, there ar 4 screws that hold the frame to the part that screws into the stereo. These screws are nearly inaccessible unless you have specialty really thin tiny screwdrivers and if you do you better have some really strong fingers to get them tightened down. After about 45 minutes of struggling to get these screws in place then you have to put the tray or pocket whatever you want to call it in place, it doesn't fit very well and the plastic is bent now do to that. It looks fine now that it's installed but way to make something so simple such a pain.
Pros: .... looks nice after installation is complete?
Cons: A major pain to assemble and the plastic is cheap.

Cheap plastic
Christopher from Columbia, SC on 10/20/2016
2010 Subaru Impreza
You will need a very small screwdriver (think eyeglasses repair kit size) to attach the trim piece to the 2 mounting brackets. Luckily I had a very nice set of micro tools. Crisis averted. However, when screwing in the 3rd tiny screw, the hole it screws into simply broke off. Ended up using the metal factory brackets on my 2010 Impreza and just putting the trim piece over the stereo with the car trim holding it in. Works for now but I'll probably look for a better quality one to make it look nice and prevent rattling.
Pros: It came free with my stereo
Cons: It was too flimsy and broke before I even attached it to the radio.

Too flimsy for my liking
Ian P from Newport Beach, CA on 7/13/2016
2013 Subaru Impreza WRX
I bought this as part of a kit to install a new Kenwood DDX9703S into my 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX since a standard double-DIN head unit leaves about a half inch gap on the left and right side in the dash. However, this piece is also used to mount the head unit to the car. The plastic side pieces, which attach to the head unit and to the car, are too flimsy for my liking. This flimsy-ness is made worse by details on this head unit: the screw attachment locations on the sides of the DDX9703S are recessed a bit, so since these pieces are plastic I couldn't tighten down the attachments enough without fears of damaging the plastic mounting pieces. I ended up not using this, instead swapping on the metallic mounting plates from the stock head unit, and purchasing a full trim piece made for this model Impreza that reduces the dash opening to a standard double-DIN size.

It only takes 4 little screws to put this together, but those screws were a royal pain to put in place. Once I got it finished, it was a perfect fit in my dash and holds the headunit well. I'm holding off on 5 stars because of those difficult little screws.
Pros: Perfect fit in my WRX dash, holds headunit securely, I like the little storage pocket under the radio.
Cons: Those little screws had me cussing like a sailor!

While replacing factory head unit with aftermarket piece, Crutchfield supplied this kit. Some instructions called for keeping the OE brackets, but that left a poor finished product. Discarded the factory brackets and went with the kit. It turned out quite well. No gaps.
Pros: Good fit and finish.
Cons: Plastic (wish there were other options like wood or carbon fiber)

AI SB-K926 Dash Kit for Subarus
Badwrench from San Diego, CA on 3/21/2016
2011 Subaru Forester
The SB-K926 kit for Subarus is pretty straight forward in design. The product is entirely plastic, and must be assembled before installation. Overall, the kit is fine, but is a little flimsy (until your head unit is bolted in). The only issue for me is that you will need a small screwdriver that is at least 6" in length before the handle in order to reach the assembly screws. I do like the addition of some longer deck mounting screws since most decks only come with very short ones.
Pros: Simple installation.
Cons: A little flimsy. Need of a long but small screwdriver to assemble.

Linda from cleveland, OH on 1/19/2016

It does the job it needed to do and looks good once installed, but it was very awkward to handle and assemble-poor design.
Pros: Good dash fit in factory opening, looks nice
Cons: Difficult to assemble the sides to the front-poor access to screws. Had to fiddle a bit to get it aligned with dash holes. It's thin plastic, I be worried about it breaking easily on a cold day.

Dash Kit
jrkeane1 from Charlotte, NC on 1/11/2016
2011 Subaru Forester
The kit provided was good (my application used the double DIN trim piece), it does help fill the void in my Subaru that was left by the aftermarket stereo's provided trim kit. However, it is very plain looking and doesn't match the look of the plastic in my car. And the kit uses flexible plastic, even the mounting bracket, which is concerning about the longevity of the plastic holding up over time. Also, because of the design, the stereo sits recessed a bit, which would be ok if the stereo itself didn't have a recessed screen. So it sits back in the dash a bit more than I'd like.
Pros: Worked well with my car
Cons: Possible flimsy plastic could break over time, doesn't match style of plastic on the dash very well and it recesses the head unit a bit too far.

Works, but flimsy!
Matt W. from Syracuse, New York on 12/29/2015
2010 Subaru Forester
It fit in my dash and it works but it seems far less substantial than the steel mounts that came with the factory unit. I fear that a thief will make short work of this mount! If I was making this purchase all over again, I would buy a double din head unit so that I could use the factory mount instead of putting this flimsy plastic mount in my dash! The quality of this product is simply not of the same level as the factory mount and the new head unit it holds.
Pros: It fits.
Cons: Very flimsy. Will not slow down or deter thieves.

Angel from Utah on 12/26/2015
2008 Subaru Impreza
We installed the Kenwood KDC-BT362U in my daughters 2008 Subaru Impreza. It worked fine but we had to trim out some plastic inside to get it to sit straight. There is a little gap between the mount and the stereo where it dips in the middle but it isn't enough to pull out and return. We just installed it and as of now it seems to look like it is supposed to be there.
Pros: Provides a cubby in the space the stereo doesn't use
Cons: Could be a little sturdier but good enough

This fits perfectly in my 2010 Subaru Forester. I didn't need the metal sleeve that goes around the receiver (which most other adapter kits do) and I also didn't need the collar that goes around the face plate either. Gives it a nice "it's always been there" type look.

Missing parts
Crutchfield customer from Michigan on 8/3/2015
2014 Subaru Impreza WRX
When I received this kit, I was annoyed to discover the screws which were supposed to come with it were missing. I ended up going to the hardware store to find some screws which would work. This kit was included in my order at no charge, but that doesn't mean Crutchfield should let their quality control standards slacken. Aside from the missing screws, the kit more or less fit where it was supposed to, but I didn't feel much confidence with regard to its sturdiness. Had I known this complimentary kit would be as it was, I would have ordered a higher quality one and thrown this one away.

Crutchfield is great because they'll send you everything you need along with your stereo automatically so you won't waste time poking around the internet looking for what you need. This mounting gear fit perfectly into my Subaru Impreza 2008. The plastic that goes around the stereo on the dash looks great and gives it a seamless fit. I actually used the sidewall mounting harness from my original stock stereo instead of the plastic ones just because I preferred the metal.
Pros: easy to install and all the parts you'll needs.
Cons: The harness is plastic and I would prefer for it to be metal.

Fills the space, but not without some shortcomings
bak from Montana on 4/21/2015
2011 Subaru Impreza
Be careful when intially setting this up, as the side panels are attached to the fascia with the smallest of screws -- easy to strip out or simply pull out while trying to fit the compartment. My suggestion: Tighten down one side (don't overtighten!), then leave the other side loose. You'll also find that some single-DIN radios won't sit flush against the fascia with the compartment installed. You'll have to set the radio back...not ideal in some situations involving radios with a removable face.
Pros: -Fills the space
Cons: -Rather flimsy -Compartment is too large, some radios will not seat flush against the fascia

Seems the Pioneer DEH-X8600BH is a tad oversized for this kit. Had to trim the cubby on the top and man handle the head units metal bracket into place. You can see a little bit of the metal frame which I just ended up painting black. Looks very clean even though I had to cut it down to fit. Was only able to use two screws to secure the bracket back in the dash. Even with two screws missing the unit is very secure and doesn't move at all. Overall a good product.

I had to trim off some of the sides and the top of the "pouch" thing (don't know what to call it). Even after I trimmed this the deck is pushing the sides of the kit outward and I can't put in all four screws. makes installing stereo a breeze. the only complaint is the two upper screws that hold the front on are behind the mount bracket and are hard to install, you need to put the front on FIRST as to slightly bend the plastic mounts to allow the screws to be inserted in the front. if you have an extra long shaft number one phillpips then it wouldn't be a problem.

I used this to install my KDC-X597 in my newly purchased 2008 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. It fits the stereo perfectly and looks great in the car as well. I don't have any complaints. Depending upon your stereo and car combination, you may not need to use the metal shroud is designed to fit around the main stereo head unit.
Pros: Easy install. Good fit. Looks great.
Cons: None. Pretty darn simple to do.
