Bananna Plugs FTW

Easy to put on, secure when done right. Comes with the tool in the bag (a mini flat head screwdriver) and makes life so much better and cleaner for all your hi-fi cable management needs. Can't believe I lived with bare wire for 20+ years.

Anyone can use these

Theses are very easy to attach the wire, anyone can do it. They even came with the small screw driver needed to secure the wire. I would definitely recommend these for anyone installing custom length wires in their home.

Banana Plugs are the Best Way to go

Banana plugs are always the best and easiest way to connect speakers to an amp. And these double screw / twist on caps are the best design. Only downside is sometimes caps unscrew on their own. I recommend red and black electrical tape over the caps to insulate and prevent unscrewing.

Love These - Add them to your system

These banana plugs are the best! I wish I had installed them years ago. They are good quality and have a double-screw design so the cable will stay put. Crutchfield customer service is also truly fantastic. Because this was my first time installing banana plugs, I was unaware that ***they are made to fit very tightly and therefore may have to be pressed pretty firmly into the speaker terminal***. I was very wary to plug them into my Onkyo TX-NR696 because they seemed to definitely be too large to fit and I thought the metal would get stripped off. One support call later, which Crutchfield answered with a real live human very quickly, and I was reassured that it should work without issue. Indeed it did, and I was relieved that I hadn't wasted time attaching the plugs to my speaker wire. These are so convenient that I ordered more of them to add to all of my speaker cables. Thanks to the Crutchfield support team!

Attaching bare speaker wire to receiver posts for a 7.1.4 setup = no good! These were the perfect solution to simplify connectivity. While not hard to figure out, it would be nice to have some sort of simple instruction included in the pack.

Quality Connectors

Crutchfield makes nice stuff, can't go wrong with these banana connectors. Easy wiring, comes with everything you need (except the wire) and they are very secure. The sound quality seems great but, the connectors are only one piece of the puzzle there. Great quality and excellent piece of the puzzle.

Premium bananas

Very nice banana plugs. They have 2 set screws per plug, and the outer cylinder screws on AFTER you have attached the wires, unlike most which have to be put on the wire first. I tinned the end of my wires to stiffen them a bit first.

very good banana plug, sit tightly and firmly. I had some difficulty keeping the silver covers from loosening. not a big deal since you aren't plugging them in and out, but guitar jack it is not.

My friend has these same crutchfield banana connectors,he use to hookup his wireing direct with just the wire on both ends,after he finally bought these banana connectors @ I heard the difference I was very impressed..I recently bought @ complete set of Klipsch tower speakers also the 600's just as @ addon,also the Denon avr-x3700h reciever I had to buy these gold plated banana plugs,I was told they would just make my system sound even better..from what I heard on my friend's system I'm sure it will sound great,I'm ordering them now then I can hookup my system..I'm 60yrs. Old and haven't had @ good sound system since my 20's..now my kids are all grown I thought it was time,I'm an old school kinda man,not much of this new music's for me,@ little is but very little..I'm ready to hear my eagles.the stones ect,all in Dolby Atmos surround sound..I'm also buying their wireing so I'll drop an update in 2 weeks..I need to get @ new surge protector,any suggestions on best brands,makes,models? any suggestions would be appreciated..

BRASS PLUGS NOT COPPER

Very disappointed in Crutchfield. These plugs are made of brass, not copper. Any good banana plug should be made with copper. I trusted that Crutchfield wouldn't put their name on an inferior piece of gear. Unfortunately for me, I used close to 100 of these in my 2 systems in my home. Having multiple disabling injuries, I paid an electrician friend to install them. Some of them require using an extension ladder to reach. Unfortunately, I will need to replace them all. The Crutchfield plugs look very similar to and are priced about the same as another brand of plugs. I figured that is where Crutchfield got these. The other brand plugs are pure red copper, made much better and just as inexpensive as these. It's a shame that you now have to spend hours researching every purchase to ensure you're getting a quality product. I didn't do that with these. I trusted the Crutchfield name. I've done the research now and know better. Only pure copper plugs for me from now on.

Mark, We appreciate your review. These plugs use a brass barrel that's gold-plated for high conductivity and corrosion resistance. Brass is a hard metal that gives the connector solid structure and has little impact on conductivity.

Need to switch the thread direction

The thread direction should be reversed. You tighten from the plug end but it's counter clockwise. The Crutchfield label should at least be reversed so you know the plug end is the back not the front

They do they're job just fine. I would have preferred that the outer screw on covers were made from a non-conductive material. I have some vintage gear where the terminals are really close together. I had to add my own insulation (shrink tube) in some of my installations.

Banana Connectors Made It Easier!

For several years I have considered buying banana connectors, but didn't have a need to rewire the Home Theater. Then, we bought a new house, moved and time to reconnect everything! Taking a little time to attach these to my speaker wiring sure is better than laying on the floor behind the entertainment center to connect one wire at a time to the connector screw lugs! Much faster, and very secure connections! I am very glad to have them! My system sounds great once again!

Only problem was figuring out how to use them. Then I found an instructional video, and all is good. These are so much better than "bare wire." Somebody a long time ago talked me into using "bare wire," and I cuss them every time I have to reconnect speakers, etc. to my receiver!

What took me so long?

While replacing my previous a/v receiver, I decided to get with it and use connectors instead of shoving wires in the little hole a tightening down the terminal. Now that I've started using these, I will never go back to the old ways! Highly recommended.

Good but better options available

Light weight, well made plugs. The only thing i dont like about them, they get unscrewed little too easily, i believe it should lock in a little better. As well the unit feels plasticky rather than metallic.

Glad I Got Them

I'm not an Audio head. When I ordered a new stereo receiver form Crutchfield my advisor( Colin) recommended banana connectors. What? I had never heard of banana connectors. Based on Colin's recommend I purchased the plugs. I'm glad I did. Made the install easier. I purchased a the new receiver, new speakers and new wire. Measured and ran the wire. Installed bandana plug on either end. Moved new speakers in place. Installed new receiver in cabinet. Plugged every thing in. Turned unit on. And music poured forth. Glad I bought them Thanks Colin.

I have some old equipment and newer stuff. The banana connectors worked on the newer equipment but not on my speakers (Vega bookshelf, JBL Studio Monitor, Bose 301, Heil AMT 1) or Yamaha R S 202 receiver. The male clip was way too large. Those that fit in my Yamaha S501 integrated amp work great. Suggest that Crutchfield offer different size options. It was my fault for not doing more research. However, those that I did install work beautifully.

Sturdy composition and snug fit into ports make for a solid connection. My only recommendation would be to do away with the slotted set-screws and instead use phillips-head or torx set screws. When you tighten the slotted set screws, the screwdriver has a tendency to slip out of the slot and does so frequently. Phillips-head or torx set screws would eliminate this frustrating annoyance.

It was an easy process to get them set up and screwed together with a couple notes. 1) I have Crutchfield flat speaker wire from a previous purchase and couldn't afford to replace it all. Does the flat wire work with these? Yes, but with a small modification. You have to cut the sheath to make them fit into the barrel part, but it was and easy fix and there wasn't any exposed wire. 2) The were plugs too big for my Yamaha receiver and my Polk speakers, but if you lightly pinch the connectors with needle nose and they were able to slide right in with a satisfying click. 3) The two pieces don't want to stay screwed together if you tried to hand tighten and you have to be careful not to twist the speaker wire. Again the fix was easy as you just need to grip the plug side at the base with needle nose and tighten the barrel down. These are the only Banana Connectors I have purchased and would do it again and overall the experience was positive.

The plugs were too large for the receiver connector holes. I contacted a Crutchfield Technical Expert and he advised me to just lightly crimp down on the ends until they fit. Did that and all 20 plugs are installed.

A must have for home audio speakers. Keeps the worry of small strands of wire cross over from negative to positive shorting sound quality or worse. Well worth the small investment to save audio equipment trouble. Easy to use and setup and then it's plug and play worry free. Excellent choice, much easier than standard wire hook up. Wouldn't hook up a audio speaker with out it.

YES, YOU NEED SOME BANANA PLUGS

So nice not to have to try and fit the wire on the terminals on the receiver or the speakers just plug them in and get back to playing some killer tunes. If they seem a little too tight just push them a little harder and they will go right in so happy with them should have done this years ago :)

Super easy and very secure

This is my first experience with banana plugs, so I can't compare these to other plugs in terms of functionality. But I can see these things are awesome to work with. I like that there are 2 set screws so the wire is super secure. And I also like that the sheath simply slips right over the plug and screws on after you've already done the wiring and tightened the screws. Once you do a couple of these, it is literally a minute for each plug. I don't know why I've waited so long to use these! Well worth the nominal price to avoid the hassle of trying to screw the bare wire into the back of the receiver.

These didn't fit into my Onkyo receiver. Tried compressing them with pliers, then lockjaw pliers. Destroyed one, got a couple of pairs to work, sort of.

Too fat for my Denon, but I managed to work around it

Does not fit my Denon AVR-2112CI. They're too fat. They have notches cut out of them, which I didn't notice in the pictures until looking after the fact, so there is some give, just not enough for me when manually pushing them in. A pair of pliers later, I did manage to squeeze the ends together enough that they did fit and now work OK without any issues. I really enjoy how you hook the bare speaker wire up to them, which is why I bought them. I suppose I would recommend them, just know that they might be too fat for the metal contact to fit in your receiver speaker connectors but you may be able to squeeze them skinny enough to fit.
