Kicker amp and focal acx slight distortion in the 4 inch speakers
David from Atlanta, GA on 7/8/2025
There were no directions for install but it was straight forward enough. I think it's helped with some of the bass distortion in my 4 inch focal ACX.
Pros: Inexpensive and relatively easy to install
Cons: No instructions and with previous $$$ spent on upgrading speakers and amp why do I need bass blockers too?

A necessity for 3.5" speakers
Thien from RICHMOND, TX on 3/29/2025
2014 Toyota Camry
So glad a bought these! I was running full range signal from my aftermarket headunit to my 3.5" dash speakers and the lower mids sounded muddy and terrible. Adding these capacitors really let these speakers shine in the high-mids and highs and cleaned up the lows. I was a little apprehensive since I used these on Kicker KSC 3.5" speakers which are rated down to around 50 Hz but I have no regrets now. Buying these removes all the headache of sizing capacitors and soldering . The whole system is plug-and-play between your speakers and the speaker adapters.
Pros: removes muddy lows in 3.5" speakers hardware protection of speakers plug-and-play connection
Cons: makes cables really long with this + speaker adapters

Great product
Justin Eric from Mineral Wells, TX on 3/4/2025
These are working great to keep the distortion out of my kicker ks 3.5s in my dash. Just be considerate of other filters you are running from your amps or eq when you are going to add passive devices so you get a clean transition without cutting out any frequency completely or you will notice if something is missing.
Pros: Devices like these allow you to implement filters without adding expensive equipment.
Cons: None so far.

Crutchfield Bass Blockers
Hani from Dubai on 10/18/2024
Having installed upgraded my factory 3.5 speakers in my Jeep wrangler JLU to hertz 87.3 coaxial, I was getting a lot of distortion props and cracks especially when paying house, electronic music. Then I decided to add base blockers, so I tried the 300 hz first which worked to a certain extent but still got some occasional distortion with intense tracks. So I ended up finally installing the 600 hz, which sorted the problem and added the clarity I was looking for. One thing to point out is that the negative connector that comes with the bass blocker is too narrow to slide on the speaker negative prong, I think this is more specific to hertz speakers, so ended up splicing, wiring and crimping a bigger connector.

A very sweeat deal, but watch out for the poor QC.
Dave from ALEXANDRIA, VA on 8/28/2024
A pair of bass blockers fully pre-made and ready to put in for just $10 is a sweet deal! But the quality control was not up to the same sweet deal. One bass blocker had incorrect connector, all the female connectors were lose and would slide off the spades, and one male connector came apart.
Pros: Price, and they sound great - no effect on the sound.
Cons: When you get 'em, check 'em.

Sound Blockers
Jon from RIVERSIDE, CA on 3/30/2024
Replaced front speakers with these bass blockers which resulted in no sound. Rechecked everything, removed and reinstalled the mid-bass speakers and tweeters. Different components would start to work again and then go dead after restarting the car. Pulled codes from my car and found several ground errors. All the wires were fine and didn't make sense to have the same error on both sides. I cleared the codes only to have them come back. Once I removed the blockers everything started working and code didn't come back. Apparently they are sound blockers not just bass blockers.

Balanced out my new JBL 3 1/2s nicely. Prior to adding the Bass Blockers, my new speakers were drawing too much bass from the factory head unit, causing distortion and the need to position the Fader almost 80% to the rear. Easy to use product that clearly work as advertised, although I ended up leaving them out (for now). The recommended 600 HZ ones for my 4" Focals was too much bass cut, at least until we add amp and sub which is on the list. Then they may go back in. OMG! I have a set of 6 1/2" 2 way bookshelf speakers in the garage with a 10" sub. They sounded fine at low volumes, but if you cranked it up the little 6 1/2" didn't like playing the very low base. They tried really hard but they are little. I added the Bass Blockers to them so they don't even try to play the low bass. The bookshelf speakers are 6 ohm, so they roll off around 110hz, the sub takes care of everything below 120 hz. Now when you crank it up, no more distortion from the bookshelf speakers. Pretty impressive change for the price!

Bass blockers really work. Almost too well
Brad from Simpsonville, SC on 9/22/2022
Work great. Block the bass. Maybe a little too much, but they still work. My system uses JL Audio XD600/6v2, I have the JL C2 3 1/2 in the front dash with the 150mhz blockers and they seemed to let just a little too much bass through so when I put more of the same speaker in the tailgate I went with the recommended 600mhz blockers. The 150mhz definitely sounded much fuller and louder, so maybe something in the middle would be better.
Pros: Protect your speakers from damage and distortion
Cons: Can block out too much Can lower volume

Most people probably use these for tweeters, but I use them for the 4" Pioneer dash speakers I installed in my 2006 Scion xB. I used 300Hz blockers. Before I added the blockers, the little speakers were working too hard, vibrating the whole dash while trying to keep up with every bass note -- even just voices on the news or podcasts! The blockers were a cinch to install, and now the speakers give highs and mids in balance with the door speakers, without working too hard. I think 600Hz blockers would have been fine, too, but I appreciate having some extra mids in the front. Highly recommend to other first-gen xB owners!

Adam from Houston on 12/18/2021
Great for making your speakers not work. Wired these in with a factory head unit (2021 F150 Sync4) and RF 6.5" component speakers and was surprised to get nothing out. I verified the install (which is not complex), and found that speakers with these installed produced no sound. Removed them and the speakers worked. I'm not sure if there is a wattage cutoff or if there are signals that these don't get along with, but in my case they made an otherwise working speaker non-functional until removed. I have no idea if I got two consecutive duds or if the documentation is crummy, but my strong recommendation is that you test this before using or buying more than one. If I were using a crossover or had better control of the DSP on my factory head unit, I would say that's the better solution regardless.
Pros: Not clear if any
Cons: 2 or 2 units made my speakers not work until removed.

I needed bass blockers for my center channel 3 1/2 " JBL Club speaker in my '16 Toyota Tundra DC. I am using my head unit amp to push it. My other speakers have their on amp and crossover set to 100hz, however I needed the bass blocker so my 3 1/2" center speaker wouldn't be over extended by low frequencies. It was the perfect solution and literally took me minutes to install. Now my system shines like it should.

Titan XD Pro4X center channel
Crutchfield customer from Norman, OK on 5/26/2021
I used the Crutchfield 600Hz Bass Blocker on the center channel speaker in my 2017 Nissan Titan XD Pro4X. I attached these to a Sony 3.5 inch midrange driver to keep the vocals from being muddies up by lower frequencies. I got exactly what I bargained for. The Crutchfield Bass Blocker met my expectations and kept the vocal clean and clear for the production of a wonderfully imaged sound stage without pesky distortion at higher volumes. The Bass Blocker were very easy to connect inline with the speaker. One note, the capacitor should be wired inline on the Positive terminal. I was a bit surprised that the product did not come with any installation instructions, or at least a simple wiring diagram. But, I YouTube'd it and was back in business in no time. Great product! I would certainly recommend to anyone looking to clean up the lower end of the frequency spectrum when using a driver not intended to reproduce bass.
Pros: Worked perfectly for my application.
Cons: Add a wiring diagram to the package.

Plug and Play
Matthew from REISTERSTOWN, MD on 12/5/2020
Unlike other brands of bass-blockers, these have both the +/- leads, pre-terminated to plug in between your speakers and the speaker wire. I plugged these into my JBL Club 3.5" dash speakers, and just they work.
Pros: Ease of use
Cons: They could have included documentation about what frequencies these block for different impedance values. These are labeled 600 Hz bass blockers, but that's at 4 ohms - with my 3 ohm JBLs, the cutoff is 800 Hz and if you use them with 8 ohm speakers, it would be a 300 Hz cutoff.

They do what they are supposed to!
Raymond from BALLSTON SPA, NY on 3/21/2020
Used these with a pair of Rockford Fosgate 6.5 inch speakers that I also purchased from Crutchfield. I am currently using the stock head unit in my 2015 Mazda 3 so I don't have any low pass filtering built in. These things work incredibly. They take all the bass out of the speaker from 150 dB down. This allows me to use the speaker for what it was really meant for and save the bass for the 15 inch Rockford sub in the trunk. These were incredibly easy to install and they were plug and play. Crutchfield is my go to when it comes to just about everything electronics related.
Pros: Keeps all the lower bass notes out of smaller speakers.

Get these Bass Blockers to help eliminate buzzing noise on speakers
Crutchfield customer from Los Angeles, CA on 7/28/2019
I purchased a 14 Chevy Spark EV with the original front and rear speakers replaced with 4" Kicker CS speakers. At first the sound quality was terrible on lows and highs so I started to look for a solution. After some researching I found that the Spark EV originally had 8 ohm speakers while the Kicker CS are 4 ohms. So I believe that the stock amplifier for the front speakers are not equipped for the frequency range of 4 ohms. I went on YouTube and found a video on testing hertz noise levels on speakers and found that 0-150hz on the front speakers was making a irritable buzzing noise. I called Crutchfield and let them know my situation and they recommended me the Bass Blockers. I tried the 150hz and 300hz and the 300hz blocked most of all the buzzing sound from the speaker. I used some foam tape and placed it around the foam cone and the rim of the speaker which eliminated all the buzzing noise entirely. It did remove some bass, but I have the rear speakers and plan to add a small subwoofer. I am very happy with my purchase and the recommendation of the Crutchfield team, the sound quality is far beyond what I imagined possible in for these speaker on the stock amplifier with the help of the Bass Blockers.
Pros: They help reduce the bass or buzzing noise on the frequency advertised. Easy install

work great, also appreciate the excellent customer support I received.
Douglas from Phoenix, AZ on 6/16/2019
work great. my woofers were getting frequencies they were not prepared to handle. The crossovers in my set only did tweeter to woofer, not woofer to sub. the effect of these was not just to keep out the bass the speakers could not handle, but also that the woofers sound so much better now that they can focus on processing only the frequencies they are meant to.

Kicker 3.5" 43CSC354 into 2017 Hyundai Sonata dash
Crutchfield customer from Nicholasville, KY on 4/8/2019
Hard to quantify, but limiting the lower bass frequencies to these tiny 3.5" dash speakers made sense to me. Ordered the 600 hz per Crutchfield's selection chart.
Pros: Inexpensive. Thanks for offering them.
Cons: Had to adjust the connections to fit on the speaker terminals. Minor deal.

Perfect Plug & Play

Perfect plug and play! These work great. Swapping out factory tweeters for a solid pair of after market tweeters is a GREAT way to improve your music. Factory systems are basically flat and the company yeast and volume added by a good set of tweeters can do wonders. These capacitors will keep them clear, loud and protected!
Pros: Price, ease of install, functionality

Protect those precious little speakers
Tad from Seattle, WA on 9/6/2018
I built a little satellite / sub-woofer system into a kitchen cabinet. Every so often a track would come along with a bass signal strong enough to bottom out the 4" cones on the small speakers. (ouch!) Bass blockers to the rescue. Now I can crank the volume and not have to worry if my speakers are being damaged. Cool! Just one thing I'd like to mention to the folks at Crutchfield, I'd gladly pay a few more bucks if you'd throw a set of mating connectors in the box.
Pros: They work great, low cost, quick install
Cons: No mating connectors

I'm using AC to component system in the front of a Dodge ram mega cab and adding these base blockers along with the 3 1/2 in. Absolutely amazing combination I would highly recommend any of these base blockers to complement the function ability of a component or multi speaker R/L F/B channel for Full range audio
Pros: Extremely well built hi function ability ample wiring harness length
Cons: None so far

Bass Blockers
Miguel from Sanger, CA on 6/29/2018
I've used other brands, and didn't see much improvement on cutting out specific frequencies, but these worked. I have these wired on a new set of 4" co-axials that are being used to fill in some rear imaging. Did the job, no bass or mid bass coming through, which can sometimes damage smaller speakers at higher volume. I opted for 600 Hz cut-offs for my setup. Even with the crossover option in the Alpine head unit set steep, I could hear distortion in the previous speakers I had before the new set. Not anymore. Would recommend to anyone who wants to make sure to prevent certain frequencies from damaging speakers.
Pros: Worked as advertised. Terminals on both ends of blocker made it easy to connect inline, and not have to splice into speaker wires.

Bass Blockers: Cheap Fix For Too Much Bass
Jason from Port Wentworth, GA on 6/25/2018
Did the trick! Due to speaker degradation (common problem in 2007 Toyota Tundras), I replaced the factory mid-bass speakers in the front and rear doors. After that I began hearing dull thumping during heavy bass notes, which lead me to think that too much bass was being sent to the new speakers (could be I diagnosed the problem poorly, admittedly). Bought these 150hz bass blockers and the problem went away immediately. I did have to turn the bass up on my system to get the subwoofer to compensate, but it's doing so quite well now. Great products, great price.
Pros: Cheap, Easy to Install, Well Made
Cons: None

awsome highs
Crutchfield customer from Parchment, MI on 2/27/2018
when I replaced the stock 3.5 dash speakers in my dodge the new ones "jl c2's" where attempting to play full range and while I love jl products no 3.5 speaker made is capable of playing loud bass. so I knew i needed bass blockers. I am not a stereo expert so I wasn't sure what size would be most appropriate to get the most range possible out of my speakers. thankfully crutchfield lists which blockers are correct for the size of the speakers and I now have great music coming from the dash.
Pros: full use of speaker capabilities
Cons: shipping

a must for high power, tweeters and 2ways
nick from Trenton, MO on 1/9/2018
i used them with a high power head unit ( Sony mex-GS820BT) I feel these are a must for the 4X6 infinity kappa speakers I installed in a 1998 jeep TJ, the speakers are rated for the source, BUT by cutting the low end Hz, there is no distortion at higher volumes/power, just use the balance and fade on your unit to your liking, these will bring in the highs and save your speakers (distortion is a speaker killer)
Pros: worked well east to install price
