Overview: The Yamaha neckband-style EP-E70A wireless noise-cancelling earphones have 9.2mm dynamic drivers to deliver superb, full-range audio performance. The soft, flexible neckband lays comfortably around your collar, and the earbuds are attached to the neckband with 7" cables. With Bluetooth 5.0, you can listen to your favorite music or take calls wirelessly from your smartphone. Unlike most neckband-style wireless earphones, the EP-E70A has a wired listening option, in case your battery runs down. The earphones come with 5 pairs of silicone ear tips (XS, S, M, L, XL), a USB-C charging cable, an audio cable for wired listening, an airline in-flight adapter, and a vinyl storage pouch.

Advanced ANC: The EP-E70A is equipped with Advanced Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) which utilizes a new algorithm from Yamaha and internal microphones to pickup and analyze the ambient noise and the playback music signal. Advanced ANC does this without applying any processing to the music, so the signal is pure. The ambient noise is removed by an equal, but opposite signal, so all that's left is the music.

Ambient Sound: The Ambient Sound feature uses the same microphones used for Advanced ANC, but instead of cancelling the noise, the ambient sound is mixed together with the music signal to raise awareness of your surroundings. With Ambient Sound activated, you can carry on a conversation with another person without removing your earbuds. You can maintain awareness of what is going on around you as you walk, or hear public announcements at the airport or train station.

Listening Optimizer: The Listening Optimizer helps your earphones to adapt to the unique shape of your ear, the way you wear the earphones, and your surroundings, to deliver a sound that is customized to you. Internal microphones take constant measurements every 20 seconds to analyze the quality of the ear bud seal and the amount of air leakage, and processes the playback, in real time, for the best sound quality.

Listening Care: Typical headphones lose high and low frequencies when played at low volumes, so music is usually played at loud volumes, causing potential hearing damage. The Listening Care feature augments the lost frequencies, allowing you to hear full-range sounds, even at low volumes.

Onboard Controls: The EP-E70A features onboard controls on both ends of the neckband. The left side includes the power key, volume + and -, and a function key which controls your music playback, phone calls, and voice assistants. On the right side is the ANC, which lets you toggle between Advanced ANC, Ambient Sound, and off.

Bluetooth 5.0: The EP-E70A neck-style earphones feature Bluetooth version 5.0 with A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, and HSP supported profiles. The earphones are compatible with SBC, AAC, and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive codecs. aptX Adaptive is a low-latency codec with HD quality audio and an adaptive bit rate that dynamically adjusts to eliminate drop-outs. Up to 8 devices can be registered to the earphones, but only one can be active at one time. Bluetooth range is approximately 33 feet (10 meters).

Yamaha Headphones Controller App: The Yamaha Headphones Controller app helps provide easy operation of your earphones from your smart phone or tablet. You can view the status of your earphones, including battery power and settings. You can activate Listening Care, and set the Auto Power Off timer setting. The firmware of the earphones can also be updated through the Headphones Controller app. The app is available from the App Store for devices running iOS 11.0 or later, and from Google Play for devices running Android 7.0 and up.

Voice Assistants: The earphones let you activate your favorite native voice assistants, such as Siri and Google Assistant.

Battery: The EP-E70A's built-in Lithium-ion rechargeable battery provides approximately 18 hours of playback time on a full charge (ANC on). The battery charges in approximately 2.5 hours via the included USB Type A-to-C cable. A 5V DC USB power adapter with at least 0.5A output is required. Charging temperature is 41°F to 104°F (+5°C to 40°C).

Wired Option: The earphones come with a unique Type C USB-to-3.5mm audio cable that lets you listen when the battery is exhausted. You can plug directly into your portable digital music player with a 3.5mm audio output. When using the audio cable, you cannot connect to a Bluetooth device, take or make phone calls, operate the earphones using the Headphones Controller app, or operate the volume keys or function key. You can switch between Ambient Sound and Noise Cancelling using the ANC key. An airline adapter (female 3.5mm to dual male 3.5mm) is included for connecting to in-flight entertainment.
