Crystal clear sound.
Carlos from New Jersey on 7/7/2025
I did my research for weeks trying to find the right amplifier. It was overwhelming at times. So I decided to try this Yamaha R - N 1000A. For the record, I have owned Technics components for years. I was blown away by it. I complemented this amplifier with a pair of floor-standing Wharfedale Evo4.4 and my search was over. You can hear every instrument's separation with an amazing balance and tone options that Yamaha can only offer. The music streaming is clear and user-friendly. Crutchfield customer service was extremely important and helpful. I give this unit on a scale from 1 to 10 a solid 100.
Pros: Outstanding sound.
Cons: None

Yamaha Clarity like none other
Mark from Oceanside, CA on 7/6/2025
Originally purchased the N800A but lacked the HDMI port. Upgraded to scratch and dent 1000A - I noticed a difference is sound and clarity the minute I turned it on. Scratch and dent was flawless (no noticeable issues). I pairs this up now with. Subwoofer and the sound is just amazing. I am finally happy with amazing sound and performance of the Yamaha! Thank you Crutchfield for the support and help to get the right product. Such clear sound on the 1000 like night and day! Now I'm enjoying full sound even at lower levels! Music to the ears!
Pros: Great sound/ easy to hook up/ clarity is crystal clear and loud.
Cons: None yet

Nice receiver
Kent from Banner Elk, NC on 6/26/2025
Easy to set up and use. Sounds great. Love the bluetooth feature. Can just about hook anything up to it. I've only had it for about 6 weeks, but so far, so good. Setup with a medium power tube amp and a set of floor speakers and a set of bookshelf speakers. TV integrated. Centerpiece of a nice home stereo system and seems up to the task. Should only get better as it gets broken in.
Pros: Easy to set up and use. Sounds great. Love the bluetooth feature. Can just about hook anything up to it.
Cons: Nothing so far...

Yamaha R-N1000A
Crutchfield customer from West Richland, WA on 4/10/2025
Received my new Yamaha R-N1000A from Crutchfield boxed like Fort Knox. I wired it to my old Def Tech 65 speakers which I had purchased from Crutchfield years ago. Also hooked up the GoldenEar ForceField 40 sub woofer I had purchased from Crutchfield. YAPO went perfect and I was able to listen to Neil Diamond's Cracklin Rosie within an hour. My old almost deaf dog was bobbing her head up and down to the thump thump she could feel. We sat and listened to old cd's which came alive through the new receiver.
Pros: Perfect. Perfect. Perfect
Cons: None

Solid receiver
Philip from MILLSBORO, DE on 3/25/2025
After careful consideration I decided to purchase this Yamaha receiver. It had the power and specs I was looking for. It matches well with my new Wharefdale Litton speakers. I primarily listen to CDs and digital streaming music. I also purchased a SVS subwoofer to supplement the bass. Haven't decided on a turntable yet. The Music Cast app works well with the speaker settings. I set up YPAO which adjusts for my room conditions well. I prefer its to Pure Direct. Minor negatives include a small LED screen and no Tidal Connect All in all I would recommend this unit.
Pros: Great power , sound and features
Cons: Small LED screen and does not support Tidal connect.

Yamaha R-N1000A
Gary from Piedmont, SC on 3/17/2025
This is a great unit for my 2.0 channel listening needs. It is paired with a pair of Salk Supercharged Songtowers and has plenty of power for them. I replaced an AVR that was being used and the improvement in sound quality was noticed immediately, a veil was lifted. Good tight bass and excellent highs. It was simple to set up using the music cast app, one of the better apps for gear I've run across. I had my XM and quboz accounts running in a flash, very simple and intuitive to use. The sound for TV/movies is excellent as well. I ran YPAO and it works fine. I use it primarily for low level music listening. The dynamic eq function of YPAO is a better way to adjust for loss of bass and treble at low volumes than using the loudness adjustment of the unit. I listen to jazz at low volumes, almost background levels, and the dynamic eq function of YPAO helps to fill out the frequencies. I've bought a few pieces of gear from Crutchfield and their customer service, as usual, was top notch. Kudos to the support staff. All in all, I'm ecstatic with my purchase.
Pros: Great sound Room Correction/Dynamic EQ Streaming app Simple set up
Cons: None

Good Purchase
Dennis from Canton, MI on 2/6/2025
So far so god.... Still early on but a very reasonable improvement over my Harmon Kardon 3490 receiver from 2010. What has been most impressive is dealing with Crutchfield. Every step of the way, ??'s before sale , help with hook up and features, and MOST IMPORTANTLY: they price matched after the sale when I found the receiver for less. Now.. top that!!!! I've dealt with these folks a little in the past but this experience has me for life. Oh yeah, the receiver: not being an audiophile techie guy , I can tell you it looks VERY cool , easy to operate, sounds great using both cd player and Klipsch Heritage Pro Headphones. Klipsch Tower speakers have also stepped up as well. Thank s very much Crutchfield. Dennis Bostwick/ Canton Mi

Love it!
Greg from Santa Fe , NM on 10/5/2024
Love the Yamaha RN1000A. I've been looking to recreated the sound that I got out of an early 90's receiver/amp for a long time. Until now, wasn't able to get the sound I was looking for. This unit does everything it's advertised too and sounds great. It produces crystal clear highs with enough on the low end to sound great playing through a set of Klipsh floor speakers. Crutchfield was super helpful.

Yamaha R-N1000A
Raymond from Honolulu, HI on 9/3/2024
Got this on "scratch and dent" sale for considerable savings. Could not see/find any damage at all. Was just missing owners manual, easily downloaded from Yamaha. Sound is excellent when used in "pure direct" mode. Drives my Magnepan LRS+ fine. I have phono, CD, streaming, bluetooth and TV conections. Yamaha's Musicast app for phone made setup quick and is easy to navigate.

Crisp, clear Yamaha sound. Receiver works well with Klipsch Reference Premiere RP 8000-II speakers. Yamaha Musicast app take a little work to set up on iphone and ipad and then sync with receiver; but, once you get through the set-up it works well.

Versatile and Powerful 2 Channel Stereo!
David from HOWELL, MI on 11/16/2023
I've had my R-N1000A for nearly a month now and all I can say is wow! Having a dedicated two channel amp with this kind of power makes my JBL L100's sing, with clear separation of the instruments, crisp highs and tight lows. I have the black version and love the retro looks, copying the Yamaha integrated amps of the 70's. The MusicCast app easily controls this amp and streaming music through it is fantastic! I also play vinyl and the phono stage on this unit is top notch for mm carts. The other inputs and features, like pre outs for a separate amp (which I use) are just icing on the cake. And, even after running it for hours it barely gets warm. Highly recommend!
Pros: Power, Sound Quality, Build
