Product Research

Features

High Quality Construction: Each component of the Yamaha TT-S303 turntable was carefully chosen to contribute to rich, uncompressed sound reproduction of your vinyl records.  Enjoy superior sound thanks to the turntable's belt driven high inertial platter with DC motor which achieves stable rotation and vibration reduction. The static balanced straight tonearm is made for stable tracking and creates accurate stylus pressure for accurate tracking and sound reproduction. A rigid MDF cabinet, aluminum die-cast platter, felt mat, and isolation feet suppress unnecessary vibration.

Manual Operation: The turntable includes a manual lifter mechanism that allows you to place the needle on the record wherever you want. If you raise the lift lever during playback, the tone arm rises and playback pauses. When you lower the lift lever, playback resumes. The tone arm does not automatically rise when the record finishes playing; you will need to do this manually.

33-1/3 and 45 RPM Compatible: The Yamaha TT-S303 turntable will play at 33-1/3 and 45 rpm speeds. An adapter is included for playing 45 rpm records.

MM Cartridge: The TT-S303 turntable's headshell consists of a MM cartridge with an Audio-Technica ATN3600L stylus. The headshell will need to be installed onto the turntable's tonearm. If you will not be using the unit for a time, attach the included cover to the stylus to protect it.

Anti-Skating Dial: Anti-skating adjustment is performed to counter the force which pulls the stylus tip inside due to the record rotation. Make sure that the anti-skating value is the same as the stylus pressure value. The appropriate stylus pressure for the cartridge included with this unit is 3.5 grams.

Built-in Phono Preamp for Line or Phono Output: Designed with a built-in phono EQ amplifier, you have the option of connecting to a line input on a receiver or integrated amplifier without a phono stage, or even to a pair of powered speakers. Alternatively, if you want to utilize the phono stage of your receiver or integrated amplifier, switch the TT-S303 to phono output mode for the perfect pairing with your favorite receiver or integrated amplifier. Make sure the Phono EQ switch on the back of the turntable is set to the appropriate setting before connection.

Stereo RCA Output: The Yamaha TT-S303 is outfitted with a set of stereo RCA output jacks and comes with a 39" stereo RCA cable for connection to your AV receiver, integrated amplifier, or powered speakers.

AC Power Adapter: The Yamaha TT-S303 turntable comes with an external AC power adapter which will need to be plugged into an AC power outlet or surge protector (sold separately). The external AC power supply helps to cut out electronic interference.

Mounting Options: Because record playback is easily affected by vibration, you should place the turntable in a level location that is not subject to external vibration. Place it sufficiently far from your speaker system, so that it will not be affected by sound pressure or vibration.

Dust Cover: A hinged dust cover protects the turntable during playback or when it is not in use. The dust cover can be removed.

Q
I have this record player and I'm looking to replace the needle with an AT 95 series, but I see they say designed for an s or curved tone arm - will they not work on this straight tone arm?
john  Aug 14, 2023
1 answer
A
It sounds like you're considering a cartridge/headshell combination, which we do have available on our website. If this is the case, though, you are correct that the straight, non-angled headshells in these packages will NOT work with your Yamaha's straight tonearm. I recommend either buying a cartridge without a headshell included, or purchase a separate angled headshell if you'd like to have a spare.

Q
Does the unit stop spinning when end of record reached?
1mojo  Mar 03, 2023

A
This amazing Yamaha TT-S303 deck is totally manual, Richie. This means the platter will not stop when the record reaches the end. The tonearm will also stay in place, you have to manually control this turntables functions. Check out the Music Hall Classic in the link below. This deck is a semi-auto, removing the tonearm at the end of playback for some extra piece of mind! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_823CLSCWN/Music-Hall-Classic.html

Q
I have a brand new Ortofon Blue on my current turntable and would want to put it on this TT if bought it. Would an Ortofon Blue cartridge be easily put on / changed out with the Audio Technica cartridge that comes on this turntable out of the box or would the entire head-shell need to be changed over?
johnny  Nov 27, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings John, and thank you for your question. The Yamaha uses a universal headshell, that uses a 2 screw mount and a 4 pin connection. Pretty standard these days. You can use your Ortofon Blue with this Yamaha.

Q
Does this turntable require a ground I don't seen anywhere on the back of the turntable to connect a turntable ground wire?
johnny  Nov 27, 2022

A
Greetings John, and thank you for your question. Most turntables with built in phono preamp will not need a separate ground wire. This would be the case with the Yamaha TT-S303

Q
Does this until need to be grounded I don't seen anything to attach a ground wire?
johnny  Nov 27, 2022

A
This turntable should not need to share a ground connection to a connected amplifier/receiver.

I would like to connect this directly to 2 bookshelf speakers (preferably smaller ones, say 6'-9' in height) and wondered what you would recommend? Interested to hear the high-end and moderately priced options. Thanks.

That is exact what I did due to very limited space . I've been very happy with my Klipsch bookshelf speakers.

When you say directly i assume you mean powered speakers so that you don't need an amp / receiver? I have lower end audioengine powered speakers and they sound aright. Listening to Motorhead's "Live to Win" right now and they just can't punch at the weight needed for Motorhead... If I had my way I'd get an integrated amp and some big passive speakers... As far as high end powered speakers i can't afford the ELAC's but can't imagine those wouldn't rock. I'd look at the Klipsch too. Audioengine have been fine tho

You need an amplifier between the turntable and speakers, but I have used a pair of powered Klipsch bookshelf speakers with it and it sounds amazing.

This particular model is not equipped with Bluetooth Technology however, coupled with a Bluetooth capable receiver you would be able to achieve a wireless speaker configuration. Are you attempting to achieve a multi-unit component system (e.g. cd player) or do you simply want a turntable and speaker set-up? If you're wanting the simplicity of a turntable speaker set-up the MusicCast VINYL 500 Wi-Fi Turntable is what you're looking for. Keep in mind any speaker could potentially become wireless with add-on components (e.g. wireless adapter).

Q
4/21, Guys I'm interested in the Yamaha TT-S303, the information regarding the cartridge is totally vague--------- is the tone arm ready to take most of the cartridges that you list as accessories, is the one included rather "low end" ? Several months ago I purchased your Yamaha CD-C600------excellent, my old B&O turntable has done it's time----------- your comments appreciated !!! Thank you, Roland Farrar,.

Hi Roland, the moving magnet cartridge is pre-installed with the Audio-Technica ATN3600L. The Cartridge is able to be changed, and any of the cartridges listed as a fitting accessory option for this turntable will work.

Hey Roland. The cartridge included is by Audio Technica, another fine name in turntables. When setting up the weight for the tonearm, I was surprised to see the weight at 3.5 grams (I expected a much lower setting). Once setup was complete and I placed the first vinyl, I realized my concerns were unwarranted. Sound is what I would expect from both Yamaha and AT. I hope this helps. Timothy
