This was a replacement for my 10 year old Denon avr5200x. Has the same power raring but more features most of which I won't use. That beingsaid, I am particulrly impressed with the PHONO Mode.It seems they put a rumble filter of some kinf which enables me to be able to keep ny Subwoofer levels unureduced. I have a 7/2 system plus Zone 2 amp/speakers This receiver is a Beast!I Very happy. Cudos to Denon Tech support who helped me Dial this System in!
Pros: High end Ear Candy!
Cons: None that I can Tell

Still Learning because bass is low!

When I received the receiver, after I connected the speakers it worked fine. The second day the receiver didn't connect with the speakers until I turn it off three times but now it is working fine. Wonderful sound but I am still learning how to operate the Denon AVR-X6800H. My front speakers is klipsch 82i with four speaker wire connection but still learning if the speakers connected right to produce the best sound.

Solid Home Theater Workhorse

I'm a long-time Denon user and I'm running a 7.2.4 setup with this AVR-X6800H and have been very impressed with the performance. The Denon is feature-rich and has given me no trouble. I calibrated with the MultEQ app on my iPhone (annoyingly an extra $20 charge) but have found that the results satisfy my needs. The other software options are absurdly more expensive. Easy to set-up and performing without interruption. No complaints.
Pros: Maximum compatibility with peripherals new and old. Easy to set-up. Not as massively tall as some competitors. Great performance. Decent price.
Cons: Extra money and work for good calibration. I strongly considered Sony's new 7000ES AVR for its built in top notch room calibration.

Denon AVR-X6800H
Audio Dad from IL on 2/29/2024
I have a 5.1.4 setup with 2 speakers in a different room. So I bought the 6800h for the 11 channels of amplification. I have a new Sony smart tv, 4k blue ray player connected to the tv and the receiver connected to the tv through eArc HDMI. Sound is good, but upgrading from my $200 HTIB receiver I can't say the sound is so much improved. Your sound quality really depends 90% on you speakers. Get a good front pair and a subwoofer and it will cover most situations. Audessy worked well and it level balanced my speakers. Now for some issues - GUI tv screen is nice, but not iPhone nice. It's sometimes hard to find what you want to change. I ended up using google a lot to find out how to change some settings. - the volume control on the receiver remote is very hard to use. One click of the button increases the sound by .5db, which is very small. You need many clicks to make a difference. If you hold it down, it will start changing the volume very fast. Late at night this is a problem. They need to slow down the rate of change of the volume when you hold the button down. Hard to believe it's a problem on such an expensive unit. Using the tv remote to control the receiver volume from the tv works fine. - I was watching an atmos blu ray. If you skip ahead you are treated to a few seconds of watching a movie with no sound. Kinda annoying. Not sure if this is an issue with other sound formats or the blue ray player. Apps on the tv don't h
Pros: Overall good but needs refinement, especially at this price. I still have much more exploring todo.
Cons: - If you are just listening to music there is a button on the bottom of the remote labeled music. It cycles though various sound effect processing. It's fun to do except that some modes have much louder volume than others. Then you need to adjust the volume with the remote.. In all channel stereo the main front speakers are very quiet and the back speakers are loud, so it's not so useful.

AVR-X6800H Excellent Receiver
James from Goose Creek, SC on 2/11/2024
I replaced my older Denon AVR4300 with my new AVR-X6800H and I couldn't be happier with my new Denon Receiver. My 4300 gave me good service but my sound came alive with my new 6800 receiver. I don't know why it made such a difference but my tv and music are sharper and more powerful now. The 6800 is a relatively new model and I couldn't be happier with mine.
Pros: Excellent sound quality
Cons: I don't use Zone 2&3 and sometimes they come on and I had to search to figure out how to turn them off. You can't turn them off with the remote. When they come on the receiver won't turn off completely.

Promising but has some issues
Guest from Napa, CA on 2/6/2024
I got the X6800H primarily to try Dirac. I upgraded from the X6500H but unfortunately I keep experiencing video dropouts, randomly. The device input doesn't seem to matter but once it goes out switching inputs doesn't help. I have to power cycle to get video back. This happens about once a day. There's also another issue with eARC through the LG G3 television. A couple places online are saying that the 800 series have issues with eARC and the LG G3 and possibly C3 televisions.
