Notes:
- Multi-channel SACDs will be down-mixed to 2-channel stereo at the player's analog output. The optical & coaxial digital outputs do not support SACD playback.
- When there are multiple folders containing music files, the playback order of folders is automatically set when this unit reads the media. The files in each folder are played back in the order in which the files were recorded on the media, from the oldest date and time.
Denon Original Disc Drive: The disc drive design of the DCD-1700NE is built with a high-class S.V.H (Suppress Vibration Hybrid) mechanism. New, condensed signal paths and circuitry that control pickup and decode noise are minimized to prevent excess noise and preserve sound quality. The hybrid construction of the S.V.H. loader provides stability in the disc drive, allowing for the decoding and signal reading with the upmost accuracy. The low center of gravity of the mechanism suppresses vibration occurring inside the DCD-1700NE as well as outside the structure. By eliminating excess vibration, servo-related operations are minimized. The reduction of unnecessary controls and current consumption allows for digital signals to be read from the disc with optimal accuracy.
High-Quality Construction & Advanced Circuitry: The Denon DCD-1700NE features high-quality construction & advanced circuitry for vibration-free, high-fidelity performance.
- Vibration-Resistant & Direct Mechanical Ground Construction: The DCD-1700NE's vibration-resistant design & direct mechanical ground construction reduces the adverse audio effects of heavy components so that sound quality meets Denon standards. Power transformers are fitted near the bottom of DCD-1700NE and immediately above the insulators to prevent unwanted vibration. By lowering the transformer, the vibration surrounding the chassis is reduced, resulting in pristine sound.
- Advanced Circuitry with Minimized Signal Paths: The circuit patterns in the DCD-1700NE are thoughtfully engineered to make signal paths as short as possible. With shorter circuits, the interference between circuits and left and right channels is reduced, and the adverse influences on audio signals are minimized. As a result, the circuit paths in the DCD-1700NE reproduce sound that's clean, highly transparent and faithful to the original recording.
32-Bit/192kHz DAC: The Denon DCD-1700NE employs a 32-bit/192kHz DAC (PCM1795) by Texas Instruments for Hi-Res audio performance. The TI PCM1795 DAC incorporates a DAC Master Clock along with Pioneer's Advanced AL32 Processing Plus to deliver exceptional sound quality.
- Advanced AL32 Processing Plus: The DCD-1700NE is equipped with Advanced AL32 Processing Plus, the latest in analog waveform reproduction technology from Denon. Advanced AL32 Processing Plus utilizes data interpolation algorithms, which support high-resolution audio sources. The algorithms add in the points that should exist before and after large quantities of data, smoothing out the waveform and restoring information that was lost during the digital recording. The resulting playback is highly detailed, free of interferences, richly expressive in the lower range and beautifully faithful to the original sound. Listen to songs as the artist intended.
- DAC Master Clock: To accurately synchronize digital circuits, the DCD-1700NE is built with a DAC Master Clock design that treats the DAC as the master when clock signals are supplied. Crafted with exceptional quality, the master clock is immediately adjacent to the DAC, which suppresses jitter and ensures optimal precision in D/A conversion. It serves as the reference for semiconductor operation and optimizes digital audio circuitry. Two integrated clock oscillators reduce phase noise, each addressing a sampling frequency (44.1 kHz and 48 kHz). The DAC Master Clock is exceptional for multiple sampling frequencies from 44.1kHz to 192kHz and even up to DSD 5.6MHz, without rounding.
Pure Direct Mode: Listen with Pure Direct Mode on the DCD-1700NE. Pure Direct Mode feeds sound directly from the disc player to your integrated amplifier or AV receiver, bypassing any DSP processing that might otherwise color the signal. What you hear is clean, detailed, accurate sound. In Pure Direct mode, the display turns off and digital audio output stops. This reduces the source of noise that can adversely affect sound quality, enabling high quality playback.
Analog & Digital Outputs: In addition to its analog stereo RCA outputs, the DCD-1700NE features one optical (toslink) and one coaxial (RCA) digital output to connect to the digital input of an integrated amplifier or AV receiver.
Front-Panel & Remote Control: The supplied IR remote control features an ergonomically-designed layout that includes a cursor keypad, number keypad and dedicated function buttons such as random, repeat, info and program. There are also push-button controls on the front-panel of the disc player to operate Power, Eject, Play/Pause, Stop, and Previous/Next Track.
- Program Playback: From the remote control you can program up to 20 tracks for playback.
- Direct Search: You can enter a song track or music file directly using the remote's numeric keypad.
Front-Panel Display: The front-panel display indicates the disc's total tracks and total time; as well as the track number and track time, and the song title, artist name and album name (depending on the source format) - along with icons for random mode, repeat 1 and repeat all modes, and a folder icon for data discs. The dimmer function features 3 levels of display brightness that is adjustable via the remote control
IR In/Out: The Denon DCD-1700NE is outfitted with an IR input (3.5mm) and IR output (3.5mm) for installing an optional IR repeater system (sold separately).
Auto-Standby: If there is no input signal or operation for approximately 30 minutes, the Denon disc player will automatically go into Standby mode.

Excellent player. Solid. Easy to use. SACD's and CD's sound great. My stereo setup includes a McIntosh MA5300 integrated amplifier and two 30+ year old McIntosh xr240 speakers. My digital music has never sounded better. I am completely satisfied with the Denon.
