A very well built and amazing sounding system. Purchased this bar product to replace an older 2.1 high-end soundbar. Very easy to setup and nice remote. I am a Sound-Snob and was blown away by the sound of this bar right out of the box! This has to be the best sounding sub $1,000 bar that I have had the pleasure of auditioning and it is a keeper! Highly recommended product and many thanks to Enrique of Crutchfield.

Great Sound Bar for the price!

The Denon DHT-S517 is a great sounding sound bar for the price. The sub-woofer is a step up from the other subwoofers that come with sound bars at the same price point. The Dolby Atmos does provide extra while watching movies and streaming shows that were recorded in Atmos. The 'Dialog Enhancer' is a great feature when it's time to watch sitcoms or the news with the ability to switch back to movie on the remote control. The only item I could find that did not make me excited, and thus only four stars, is the volume does not give you a numerical value on the TV screen when adjusting the volume. The sound bar is connected via the eARC. Other than that one thing; I would absolutely recommend the Denon DHT-S517 sound bar to anyone.
Pros: Good sounding sound bar from a O.E.M. that understands how to manufacture receivers and speakers. Dialog Enhancer is a excellent feature to watch normal broadcasts of sitcoms and news.
Cons: The sound bar does not provide a numerical value on Samsung TV screen when adjusting the volume.

The sound is really great! The Crutchfield advisor Ziggy really help me make the right decision! Wanted to use the HDMI included but my tv didn't have the support for it but the optical connection works fine. Thanks Crutchfield, for the help and support!! I know I can call you anytime I need help.

Bang for the Buck

Very happy with my purchase, quality product, set up was easy, and it included the necessary cables for installation, Sound is a huge improvement over our previous Bose sound bar, when watching an atmos rated movie, you feel like your in the movie, the sub has great balance with the bar, Yes, there are much better systems, but in my opinion this is a great bang for the buck for the budget home theater

Great unit, would recommend

Purchased the Denon Sound Bar 550 for replacing an eight year old sound bar that became noisy. The TV is 10 years old so did not want to spend lots on a sound bar if the TV is old. Was not happy with the 550, had issues with reverting back to TV speakers multiple times a day using HDMI pass-through. Found this model and spoke to Crutchfield to return the 550 for credit. The DHT-S517 arrived two days ago and am totally happy with this unit. Better sound quality, better speech detail especially for the Brit-Box shows and works flawlessly using the same HDMI cabes and pass-through. Would recommend this unit highly.

A NIce Soundbar

A nice sounding bar for the price. I think you need to give this sound bar a chance and work with the settings. Spotify sounds great and with the Spotify equalizer you can get some really nice play out of this sound bar. TV play back is ok with dialog coming out crisp and easy to understand. I've played a few action movies and the sound is surprisingly good at this price point. Sound bar has good bass response with a little punch when needed. I have a medium size living room and the sound bar works well. Easy set up and the SUB connected without a hitch. If your looking for a sub $ 500.00 sound bar please give this one a try. Crutchfield has the best customer service in the Industry and will answer any questions you might have.

Had High Hopes...

I had high hopes for this sound bar, but it just fell flat. This was to replace a 19 year old 5.1 sony dream system with integrated 5 disc DVD player. The warmth of the center channel along with the seamless inegration of the sub on the 19 year sold sony, far exceed the capability of this Denon sound bar. Audio from the sound bar is a little to "harsh" / "forced" and the sub is discernable, rather than integrated. The real deal breaker was the fact the the sound from my LG Oled tv was actaully better than the sound bar. If your TV has poor ineherent audio, then this sound bar is a likely improvement for a very reasonable price, but if your TV has decent audio I woudl look elsewhere.
Pros: Good design, simple connection, totally offline, no microphones, easy bluetooth connection, easy set-up
Cons: Sound was just not up to my expetations, not any better than my LG Oled audio

This product works as advertised. The dialogue enhancement feature helps with our particular hearing issues. It was easy to set up and automatically works with our Xfinity remote. Most importantly, the overall quality of this two speaker system has greatly improved our TV and music listening experience.
