Denon DP-450USB
Glenn from BURNSVILLE on 8/15/2023
Turntable was easy to set up and sounds great. The only reason for the 4 stars is that the Musicut software for editing the recordings on the USB is non-existent. Will have to see if I can find some other software to use.

Out of the box, this turntable was perfect for me. Shipping box was super good. Nothing moved as I did not see any marks within the box to indicate movement of products. Setup super easy, great instructions. The look is stylish and old school to me. With stock needle sound output is very good. May upgrade later, but stock needle is fine. Cover is unique and functional. Less lid hinges , less to break. I like it. Have not tested the USB function
Pros: Packaging Looks Sound Easy Setup
Cons: None at this time

Wonderful player. Little low on output.
Christopher from Vancouver, WA on 1/26/2023
I really like this player. It replaces another player we got that did not work out. This one plays 78s, which was tricky to find. It was easy to put together and setup. It worked perfectly and sounds great. My only complaint is that the preamp output is low. When doing comparisons, the listed output was quite a bit less than the other players on the list. We are using a Sonos system and we have turn the volume WAY up to get a good volume. When we switch back to streaming, the volume is blasting. Wish it had a little more umph, but other than that, I am very happy.

What a groovy turntable...
Ron from Laramie, WY on 9/17/2022
I had a 25 year old Pioneer turntable that had served me well, but after upgrading to a new Denon amp, I decided it was time for a turntable upgrade. Initially, the DP-450USB appealed to me because of the USB option, as well as the 78 option and the semi automatic function. But there's more to this sweet baby. First of all, it is heavy and planted (which is a good thing for my vinyl). I also like the fact that the connections in the back are recessed, so it fits better in the cabinet than the old Pioneer. Did I mention how beautiful it is? This turntable is definitely a work of art. I came of age during the cassette era, so back in the day whenever I bought some new vinyl, I'd immediately record the album to cassette so as to preserve the vinyl as well as to have music for my car. At any rate, I have vinyl dating back to my jr high years, and some have only been played once; I can't wait to turn the old albums digital and add them to my phone. What a lovely product.

We need to increase our budget for vinyl!
Lesli from Monument, CO on 1/24/2022
It's been close to 30 years since we've had a turntable, and we wanted one that would give us the ability to digitize the albums that have been sitting in boxes in our garage for longer than we'd like to admit. We have quite a few Denon components in our system and were happy to see that Denon had a turntable with all the features we were looking for. It was easy to set up and it sounds fantastic. So much warmth and clarity coming from our old vinyl! While I haven't completely edited the files, we did digitize an album and found it to be an amazingly easy one-button process. I uploaded the file into GarageBand and it sounds incredible. We've always been pleased with our past Denon purchases and couldn't be happier with this one. The only thing we need to do now is increase our budget for vinyl - we've been to our local used record store 3 times in the past 10 days!
Pros: Easy to set up, low profile, easy one-button recording, sounds great

Smooth Operation! Great value!
Crutchfield customer from Ruston, LA on 5/2/2021
This is a great value for the price. It has been a while since I owned a turntable that can accommodate a universal headshell. I now have the flexibility to switch between two cartridges to suit my musical taste. I am impressed with the smooth operation, the instant stop of platter rotation, and the auto-stop feature. These are great assets in a manual turntable! The dust cover is unique and considering that I like to play vinyl with traditional dust covers up, this one works well for me. I have not yet tried the digital recording feature, but look forward to it!
Pros: Ease of set-up!
Cons: None for what I was looking!

Convenient features, great build quality
Crutchfield customer from Clinton Twp, MI on 3/30/2021
I picked the DP-450USB over others in this range because I wanted auto-stop and the ability to change speed without manually moving the belt. I wasn't sure if the USB feature would be worth it, but it is super convenient and the sound of the recordings is better than I expected. If you like to rip digital copies of your vinyl, but your turntable isn't near a computer, the ability to rip to a USB stick at the touch of a button is great. The cartridge is very easy to upgrade since you can swap out the entire headshell without the need to perform all the alignment you would need to do if just switching the cartridge. I haven't tried the built-in pre-amp since my receiver has a phono pre-amp. The dustcover is not really functional as a dust cover, so that may be a negative (mine is in a cabinet with a cover, so I don't need it, I just use it as a display stand.

Denon DP-450USB
Jonathan from Dallas, TX on 3/23/2021
I chose the 450 over the 400 to get the added features (e.g., USB) that, while I don't expect to use, will be nice to have just in case. I loved how easy this was to set up. I double-checked the needle force with a gauge and it was dead-on (2.0g). I took the extra step of ensuring the cartridge was aligned in the headshell and it was only barely off. I suggest checking this with an alignment tool. I knew going in that the standard cartridge (~$30 to $50) was going to sound "OK" but not to my standards. I immediately replaced the cartridge with an Ortofon Bronze 2M. Even the Ortofon Red would be an improvement. This upgrade made a huge sound improvement. It's nice to know this can be done easily. I would have bought a Denon cart but the only better ones they have are moving coil (MC) types. I also stripped off the grounding wire from the RCA plugs and upgraded the plugs. If you're not an audiophile, the stock parts will be fine. I actually like the minimalist dust cover which adds to the aesthetics of the TT. Looks cool when not in use. I'm very happy with my choices.

Denon DP-450USB
James from Auburn University, AL on 3/7/2021
I didn't want the USB model but after a month and a half was tired of waiting for the 400. I haven't tried the USB feature yet. The set up was pretty easy, but I needed to view a video on YouTube to understand how to balance the tone arm correctly, since the quick start directions were a little misleading. I like the turntable for the most part. The sound is much better than my previous one, though how much is owing to the turntable and cartridge and how much to my new Klipsch speakers is hard to say. The dusk cover is somebody's idea of a bad joke: it does not protect the turntable. Whoever designed it should be let go. My other complaint is that at the end of a record, it takes too many rotations for the tonearm to lift (6-8), causing unnecessary extra wear on the stylus. It should know when it reaches the end by position. Some folks complained about the cue lever being too close to the tone arm, but I think this is not an issue at all.

Three words I hate to to read, some assembly required as I have no skills. Yet I was able to set up the turntable with ease. This is Denon's top of the line and the main reason for my purchase is the USB port. Now I'm able to save all my 200 albums, some haven't been available for decades nor can you find many of the songs streaming anywhere. I also enjoy listening to albums that only a quality turntable and speakers give. The way music should be heard. I highly recommend the Denon DP 450 USB. Like me you'll be glad you did.
Pros: USB port

This is a high quality turntable that makes my old vinyl sound fresh and revived. I have converted 10+albums using the usb feature. I find this process very easy use and efficient. The included software I found for digitizing LPS to be less useful. (Give free Audacity a try!) If you are in the market for a great Crutchfield turntable, I highly recommend the Denon DP-450USB...high quality, great service!

Set up was easy and turntable working great. However, I really dislike the dust cover. It is not on hinges, you have to manually pick it up and place it in a separate stand. Also, cannot leave a record on the turntable when replacing the dust cover as the dusk cover would then lay on the record and potentially scratch the record.
Pros: Set up easy.
Cons: Horrible Dust Cover

Looks great but sounds like AM radio static . I bought this for a second listening room after trying a few record all I heard is static distortion , I tried new cables and electric outlet same thing then checked the headshell wiring move them and sounds good but the noise comes back . For a TT at this price that's nonsense Crutchfield offered a new turntable in 3 days I refused it's just the headshell I don't wanna have to go out and return items with this Covid nonsense .I already ordered the ortofon 2m bronze with new headshell but not from Crutchfield I doubt I'd order again . Save your money and buy a better made TT,denon is poor quality .this is by no means a quality table .my other setup is Mcintosh with project rpm 5 and WILSON Sophia 3 no comparison whatsoever.Hoping the new headshell sounds great or this goes in the garbage !
Pros: Looks high end
Cons: Cheaply made ! Noisy motor comes with garbage headshell .

Denon DP-450USB
RICH from Allen, TX on 1/28/2021
This turntable is absolutely beautiful and plays as good as it looks with the included cartridge. I am sure an upgraded cartridge would take it to 11 but I do not see a need to do so just yet. I love the semi automatic feature - that is a big bonus; after a few bumps at the end, the tone arm lifts and the platter stops. I have not tried the recording feature but will soon. You can spend far more for a turntable, but for the features, ease of set up, price point, and the right system to play it through (I have a Pioneer Elite 7.1 receiver and ELAC speakers(5.1 set up) ), it's hard to beat.
Pros: form, fit, function
Cons: None so far

Not Sure Yet
Crutchfield customer from Arlington, NE on 1/18/2021
I have used it for only four vinyl sides, but there's a problem. Once I unpacked and assembled the unit, I listened to side one of Steely Dan's Aja; the sound was excellent and the tone arm lifted at the end and it shut off. A couple of days later I put on Dark Side of the Moon, and again was very pleased with the sound, but at the end of side one the tone arm didn't raise and it didn't shut off. I still had to hear side 2, so I raised the tone arm, but it kept spinning even though I switched it to "Off." I listened to side 2, and it again failed to raise and wouldn't switch off. I couldn't just leave it spinning, so I unplugged the power (effective, but hardly convenient.) I couldn't bear the thought of all the hassle of disconnecting, re-packing, and returning, so I let it sit. Yesterday it was All Things Must Pass (George Harrison,) and after thoroughly enjoying hearing one side, at the end the tone arm raised and it shut off. I cautiously tested the switch and it turned on and off again, so maybe the previous unplugging/reconnecting of the power "rebooted" the unit, and it will work fine from now on, but I am almost afraid to pull out my next favorite classic vinyl only to discover it has resumed malfunctioning, you know what I mean? For the money, I cannot just live with a problem, but I really hate the idea of having to return a just-arrived (and beautiful) turntable. Another less-serious issue is the dust cover; it protects only the platter from dust.
Pros: Excellent sound!
Cons: (Issues described above.)

Awesome Turntable
Crutchfield customer from Johnson City, TN on 7/8/2020
This is an Awesome turntable. Sounds beautiful!! Quality is excellent. My last turntable was a JVC QLF -6 from the mid to late 70's. My son had it and it quit working (Could have been the quarts) but he was unable to get parts to fix it. So recently I decided to get back into vinyl and so need to buy a turntable. I did some research and called Crutchfield to ask some questions. Bear was a great help. He answered all my questions about the unit and since he was the person I dealt with when I made a recent purchase of a new receiver, Bear told they would be a good pair. So then I topped it off with a Sumiko Pearl Cartridge. So my son should be getting this one some day too!! Thanks Crutchfield and Bear!!
Pros: It'a ALL Good!!!
Cons: Not really a con - but I had to call because I was having issues on setup. Turns out it was the "Equalizer" switch needed to turned off. This was not clear in the setup instructions from Denon.

So glad I splurged!
Crutchfield customer from HAMDEN, CT on 6/10/2020
Wow. This is what a higher-end turntable/stylus sounds like? My ears are beyond happy! This was an incredibly pricey purchase for me, even at open box pricing, but SO glad I did it. I grew up with amazing sounding equipment and have always missed it (very picky ears). I still don't have a huge system with huge speakers today, but I do have a sweet pair of discontinued sale priced Klipsch powered speakers and subwoofer that I hooked up to this turntable. The rich, warm sound is music to my ears (literally!). So glad vinyl is back!!! #GenX :) My only gripe with the turntable is the cover. Yes, it's stylish, yes, it functions uniquely as an album cover stand, but if your house is not pristine or pet-free you'll end up with dust or pet hair on the turntable or an album at some point, even with regular household cleaning.
Pros:
Cons: The cover

Was looking to upgrade my current turntable and chose this based on the reviews and pricing and the USB port. I am not disappointed. This is a great sounding turntable--crystal clear sound. Appears well made and was fairly easy to set up right out of the box. Have been listening to some of my collection from the 60's, 70's and 80's and have been impressed with the sound. I hooked it up to a Yamaha R-S700 stereo receiver and Klipsch Reference speakers and as mentioned before--great sounds. Thanks again Crutchfield for the advice and great service.

I've been waiting to upgrade my old turntable for a while. I inherited a collection of 78s a few years back and wanted to get something a bit higher end without spending a grand or more. Nothing was there. I am glad I waited. This Denon is beautiful and functions great. Setup was easy and I was listening to vinyl in minutes. I appreciate the "semi-automatic" play mode. The tonearm lifts and the table stops at the end of playing each side, so you do not have to jump up to stop the record manually. My next step is to get a new table for my living room. Because I can't keep this in the closet anymore. It looks too good for that.
