If you mount this high on a wall (with a high-mounted outlet) the speaker will be "directed" at the top of the room. Does that matter? Or should you get a tilting speaker mount instead?

I guessing you are Mounting Sonos Play ones, I mounted mine down 18" from the ceiling and the sound effect sounded perfect, so no effect on the sound in the room and Sonos app has speaker Tuning once mounted that will compare the sound around the room and adjust as needed to optimize sound quality

I am interested in Sanus speaker mount, WS OS1 W1. Is it possible to install this with the shelf at the bottom of the outlet instead of at the top?

I don't think it would work very well. You can flip the mount upside down so the speaker platform is lower than the outlet. BUT, the platform is smaller when you do that and I don't think the Sanus speaker will stay on it.

I don't think so - the indentation for the speaker base wouldn't work if the mount was inverted.

My Sonos power cable is about 6 feet long. Iâ??m not seeing where you hide that much cable on this. Am I missing something?

You are not missing anything, Paul. This Sanus outlet shelf has a pass through and has storage for extra coiled cable in the base for a nice clean look. IF your 6-foot cable is too long to stow away unseen you may be able to get a shorter cable directly from Sonos. Make sure to only use Sonos recommended accessories too!
