Overview: The Nikon NIKKOR Z 17-28mm f/2.8 lens (#20015) is an ultra-wide zoom lens that is ideal for capturing wide open landscapes, portraits, architecture, and just about everything else. The f/2.8 fixed aperture works great in dimly lit interiors or outside in twilight. The lens is designed for Nikon Z-series mirrorless cameras with the FX (full frame) format, but can be used on DX-format cameras with the APS-C sized image sensor. When attached to a DX-format camera, the 17-28mm lens has an equivalent field of view of a 25.5-42mm lens. The lens comes with the HB-107 lens hood and the CL-C1 soft case.

Nikon Technologies: The NIKKOR Z 17-28mm f/2.8 lens is equipped with the following Nikon technologies:

• Stepping Motor (STM): NIKKOR Z lenses use a stepping motor for fast, accurate, smooth, quiet autofocusing. The motor operates in virtual silence, which makes it ideal for video recording.
• Electromagnetic Diaphragm Mechanism (E): The lens has an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism in the lens barrel to provide accurate aperture blade control during auto-exposure during continuous shooting. Conventional lenses (D/G types) have mechanical linkage levers to control the diaphragm blades.
• Internal Focusing (IF): The lens features a system in which only the internal lens group moves during focusing, eliminating changes in the physical length of the lens during auto focusing, and enabling closer focusing distances.
• ED (Extra-low Dispersion) Glass: Extra-low Dispersion glass is used with normal optical glass in lenses to correct chromatic aberrations.
• Super ED Glass: Nikon's Super ED glass has even lower dispersion properties, which significantly reduces the secondary spectrum to minimize lens aberrations, including chromatic aberration.
• Aspherical Lens (AS): The lens has a curved, non-spherical surface which reduces aberrations, and allows for a more compact lens. Aspherical lenses correct distortion at wide angles, minimize coma, and other types of lens aberrations.

Lens Construction: The lens contains 13 elements in 11 groups, including 2 ED elements, 1 super-ED element, and 3 aspherical elements.

Lens Hood: The 17-28mm lens includes the HB-107 lens hood to block stray light from entering the lens causing flare or ghosting. The hood also protects the front lens elements from accidental contact with surfaces that might scratch or otherwise damage the lens. The front of the lens has a hood mounting mark for matching the mounting mark on the lens hood for installing the hood on the front of the lens. When mounting, the HB-107 adds approximately 1-1/8" to the overall length of the lens.

Filter Diameter: The NIKKOR Z 17-28mm lens features a screw-in filter thread that accommodates 67mm filters.

Control Ring: The smooth operating Control Ring gives you quick access to several functions, including precise manual focusing, aperture control, exposure compensation, or ISO sensitivity. The functionality is customizable in the menu of the attached Z-series camera. The ring rotates in silence, which is ideal for shooting video.
