Features

DJ-Style Turntable: The Audio-Technica AT-LP1240-USBXP is a professional quality DJ-style turntable that is designed primarily for use in clubs, touring and mobile DJ applications. However, it can also be used by music lovers to play their record collections at home. DJ-style features include dual start/stop buttons, start and brake control knobs, a reverse control button, and speed/pitch controls.

  • Dual Start/Stop Buttons: For added convenience, the AT-LP1240-USBXP offers dual Start/Stop buttons.
  • Start & Brake Control Knobs: Rotate the Start & Brake control knobs to increase or decrease platter start or brake time between 0.2 and 6.0 seconds. The minimum setting is the quickest start or brake time, while the maximum setting is the slowest start to reach selected speed or slowest brake speed.
  • Speed/Pitch Controls: The turntable incorporates variable Pitch control with Quartz speed lock. The Quartz button turns the Pitch function On or Off. When the Quartz button is activated, the platter will hold the RPMs at 0% pitch, regardless of the Pitch slider position and speed range control settings. The Speed range can be set to +/-10%, +/-20%, or +/-50%. The Pitch slider can be used to vary the turntable's platter rotational speed within the selected Speed range.
  • Reverse Control Button: The Reverse control button determines the platter's rotational direction.

Direct-Drive Motor (3-Speed): The Audio-Technica AT-LP1240-USBXB DJ-style turntable features a high-torque, direct-drive motor for quick start-ups. The AT-LP120XBT-USB turntable supports 33-1/3, 45 (adapter included), & 78 RPM records. Playback of 78 RPM records will require an additional cartridge that is not included and sold separately (see Accessories Tab).

Balanced S-Shaped Tonearm: The Audio-Technica turntable features a Balanced S-shaped tone arm with hydraulically damped lift control and lockable rest. You can use your finger or the tonearm lift to move the tonearm vertically to and from the face of the record. The tonearm also offers counterweight, tracking force, anti-skate adjustment, and height adjustment.

  • Counterweight: The counterweight balances the tonearm and provides adjustment for proper downward tracking force on the stylus.
  • Anti-Skate & Tracking Force: While the record is playing, a force acts on the stylus tip to pull it inward. This force can be counteracted by setting the same values for anti-skate and the tracking force.
  • Height Adjustment: The height adjustment dial raises and lowers the tonearm to allow it to remain parallel to the record surface.

Universal Headshell with AT-XP5 MM Phono Cartridge: The AT-LP1240-USBXP includes a universal AT-HS1 headshell with a pre-installed Audio-Technica AT-XP MM (moving magnet) phono cartridge that is specially designed for the needs of DJs. This cartridge features a highly-rigid polyphenylene sulfide (PPS)/glass fiber body and a tracking force of 2 to 4 grams (3 grams standard). It also offers a powerful output level of 5.5 mV, and its 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical bonded stylus tracks the record groove with high accuracy for outstanding audio reproduction. Plus, the cartridge is specifically designed to provide maximum visibility of the stylus tip.

  • There is a stylus target light that provides illumination directed at the stylus position for easier cueing in low light. It easily plugs into jack on top of turntable deck.
  • The headshell with pre-installed cartridge/stylus assembly will need to be mounted to the tonearm.

Cast-Aluminum Stroboscopic Platter: The AT-LP1240-USBXP features a cast-aluminum platter and comes with a non-slip mat. Four rows of strobe dots on the platter edge are designed to measure and verify the platter speed (pitch). Confirm the movement of the strobe dots illuminated by the stroboscopic light located under the power dial. When the corresponding row of strobe dots appears to be stationary, the turntable will be at the operating speed percentage If the dots appear to be moving to the right, the platter is moving below rated speed. If they appear to be moving to the left, the platter is moving above rated speed.

  • +7.2 % change in pitch when the dots in the top row are stationary
  • +3.3 % change in pitch when the dots in the second row are stationary
  • 0 % change in pitch (normal speed) when the dots in the third row are stationary
  • -3.3 % change in pitch when the dots in the bottom row are stationary

Built-In Phono Preamp with Stereo RCA Outputs: A selectable internal stereo phono preamplifier allows the turntable to plug directly to components with no dedicated Phono MM input. If connecting to Phono input of an amplifier or DJ mixer, set the Phono Preamp switch to the "PHONO" position. If connecting to the LINE/AUX jack of an amplifier or DJ mixer, set this switch to the "LINE" position. The turntable features stereo RCA outputs and comes with a 5' stereo RCA cable that features a ground wire.

USB-B Out for Vinyl Recording: The Audio-Technica AT-LP1240-USBXP turntable features a USB-B 1.1 output, comes with a 6.5' USB cable, and supports downloadable Audacity recording software that allows you to convert your vinyl records to digital audio files. You will need to plug the turntable into your laptop or computer via USB and install the downloadable Audacity recording software. The Audacity software is compatible with both PC (7 or above) & Mac (OS X 10.7 or above). Your vinyl records can be downloaded and recorded to your laptop or computer at CD-quality (16-bit/44.1 or 48kHz).

Note: Other third-party recording software packages are also compatible with this turntable.

Dust Cover: The AT-LP1240-USB comes with a removable dust cover that protects the turntable from dust build-up. The dust cover is simply rested on top of the turntable and then lifted off (it is not a traditional "hinged-style" dust cover). The dust cover should be taken off while records are playing. Only use the dust cover when the turntable is not operational.

  • Dimensions Without Dust Cover: 17.75" (w) x 5.9375" (h) x 13.9375"
  • Dimensions With Dust Cover: 18.0625" (w) x 6.5625" (h) x 14.3125" (d)

Adjustable Feet: The AT-LP1240-USBXP features four isolator feet that are well damped to isolate the turntable from your sturdy, flat mounting surface in order to prevent any unwanted vibration and distortion. The feet are adjustable, ensuring the turntable is level even when your mounting surface is not.

Detachable AC Power Cord: The Audio-Technica AT-LP1240-USBXP comes with a detachable 6' AC power cord (IEC 2-prong) that plugs into the back of the turntable and into an AC power outlet or surge protector/line-condtioner (sold separately).
