Headshell You Probably Need for Straight-Arm Universal

I bought this head shell for use on my Dual 618Q (for which I have another review), to mount a different cartridge than the Ortofon Blue that came with the turntable. So, for those looking for a curved headshell with "universal" mount (used on straight tonearms with the appropriate connections), this is probably what you're looking for, and it does the very few things it should do well (fits Dual 618Q and similar turntables but is oddly enough pretty difficult to find; has wires included and already mounted, with color codes for cartridge installation; screws and nuts if needed included). In this case, I got the red one since the default head shell on the Dual was black.

Very nice headshell

Bought this to replace a proprietary curved headshell on a vintage pioneer turntable (PL-a25). Fit and works perfectly on the straight tone arm. The HS3 is well constructed and looks good too. I'm going to order a couple more for my other cartridges. Once mounted swapping headshells/cartridges will be a breeze. Crutchfield shipped fast at a very reasonable price. Well worth it for what you get.

IT IS A WELL BUILT PIECE

Worked out great for what I needed it for. Very well constructed, I purchased 2 of them just in case I break one of the wires while changing out cartridges. Nice to have a back up!

Well Made

The Audio-Technica AT-HS3 is solid, well made, and easy to work with. It makes no difference if your cartridge is small or large / light or heavy -- the fit is good.

Nice to have second headshell

I have the Denon DP-300F turntable (from Crutchfield), which has the nice feature of having a removable universal-mount headshell. This Audio-Technica AT-HS3 headshell is the same size and shape as the one that came with my Denon. The angled shape is good for tracking with the Denon's straight tonearm. I have been switching back and forth between the cartridge that came with the Denon and an older one that I have used previously. It is so easy to do with this universal mount. I am very pleased with my purchase, and I also like the red color. 5 stars!
