About the Audio-Technica VM760SLC

Out-of-this-world fidelity and frequency response
Out-of-this-world fidelity and frequency response
Playing great records with a standard, low-cost cartridge is like using a blunt object to do microsurgery — you need a very fine stylus to pull all of the information out of a record groove, and to avoid degrading both the stylus and the record over time.
The Audio-Technica VM760SLC features a superb 1.5 x 0.28 mil line contact stylus that even Goldilocks would love — it sits in the groove "just right," so it can read all of the nuanced information contained within. That means high fidelity, and incredible frequency response from 20-30,000 Hz. If you want to get the most out of your valuable records over the long haul, it's an excellent choice.

Features
Dual Moving Magnet Mono Phono Cartridge: The VM760SLC special line contact stylus cartridge is the flagship model in Audio-Technica's new VM cartridge line. Like all VM cartridges, the VM760SLC is equipped with dual magnets that are positioned to match the left and right channels in the stereo record groove for outstanding channel separation and extended frequency response. The cartridge's ultra-lightweight special line contact stylus allows it to trace the record groove with incredible accuracy and minimum abrasion, resulting in nuanced audio reproduction, low distortion and low record wear.
- VM dual magnet cartridge with special line contact stylus
- Aluminum tapered cantilever
- Paratoroidal coils improve generating efficiency
- Center shield plate between the left and right channels reduces crosstalk
- Die-cast aluminum alloy housing reduces vibration and adds a natural electrical shield
Note: This cartridge is designed to fit turntables that feature a standard 1/2" mount. It is not compatible with P-Mount style turntables.

Excellent performance and value. I agree with the review in "The Absolute Sound" completely. Just remember it will only shine as bright as the weakest link in equipment chain. It will shame some high end kit. If you like MC, try the AT33ev (sa).
