About the Boston Acoustics VRI595
It's Boston Acoustics' best in-ceiling speaker. With its unique three-driver design, the VRi595 delivers precise, accurate home theater sound without taking up an inch of floor space. Boston Acoustics calls the concept "Hidden Theater" the tweeter and midrange driver are mounted on an angled baffle, creating the illusion that the sound is coming from ear level, rather than from overhead.
Music lovers will appreciate this speaker's performance, too. Use a pair for stereo sound with realistic imaging, punchy bass, and clear, crystalline highs. And the VRi595's unique construction allows you to rotate it 360° after it's installed, so you can aim the sound just right.
An optional in-ceiling bracket is recommended for installing the VRi595 in new construction (or a room that's undergoing major renovation).

Features
Woofers: The VRi595 uses an 8" DCD (Deep Channel Design) copolymer woofer with a die-cast basket. The DCD woofers use a deeply grooved pole plate that enables the voice coil to travel farther for greater output without bottoming.
Midrange: The midrange is a 3-1/2" copolymer cone with rubber surround. It uses a neodymium magnet for a powerful midrange in a compact driver.
Tweeters: Each speaker uses Boston's 1" VR aluminum dome tweeter. Compared to a soft dome, aluminum is equally light, yet more rigid. Compared to other hard dome materials, an aluminum dome is unrivaled in its ability to accurately track the input signal.
Directional: The midrange and tweeter are mounted on an angled cast aluminum baffle that faces downward, toward the listeners. The entire speaker will rotate 360° within the frame so the mid/tweeter baffle can be turned in any direction, even after the speaker is mounted.
Bi-amp Inputs: Two pair of spring loaded posts will accept single banana plugs or bare wire up to 11 gauge. There is a jumper plug that must be moved to the bi-amp position if you're using two amps or two sets of wire in the installation. The factory (normal) position of the jumper shorts the two sets on inputs together, meaning it's only necessary to use one pair.
Paintable: Both the frame and grille can be painted to match the ceiling or wall. A paint shield is included to protect the speaker from being painted as well.
Moisture Resistant: The VRi595 is well suited for humid environments like the kitchen or bathroom.
Installation: After a 10.662" diameter cutout is made, the speaker is installed into the hole and held in place by 4 attached clamps. The only tool required (after the hole is cut) is a #2 Phillips head screwdriver to tighten the clamps (a Phillips head bit is included). The clamps spread from 0.232" to 1.327", so they should cover almost any application (most drywall is 1/2" thick). One inch clearance is necessary around the opening to accommodate the clamps. The required depth to install this speaker is 5.916". For new construction a mounting bracket is available (item number 065NCBR8) which adds extra support and acts as a perfect guide for cutting the sheetrock.
Boundary Compensation: The boundary compensation circuit shapes the sound to counteract the effect of placement too close to a wall. The switch should be turned on if the speaker is mounted closer than 18 inches from a side wall or closer than 24 inches from a corner.
