About the RetroSound Newport M1A

Modern tech, classic look
Modern tech, classic look
Got a GM, Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, or Plymouth vehicle "of a certain age" that has that odd-sized factory radio? Give your classic ride a little audio help with the RetroSound Newport M1A receiver. This ingenious radio fits a wide variety of late twentieth-century vehicles and includes the mounting kit and wiring harness. Its amplifier offers an upgrade over the meager factory power, and the rear auxiliary input lets you connect your portable audio device or smartphone for music on the go.
Simplicity is key
The Newport M1A looks like an old-fashioned radio, but the vintage push-button-and-knob styling conceals a thoroughly modern receiver that's made to entertain you. You can enjoy all your favorite AM/FM stations, plus you can plug your smartphone, Dock-and-Play satellite radio, portable music player, or just about any source with a headphone jack into the auxiliary input on the rear of the receiver. The solid built-in amplifier delivers 18 watts RMS per channel, plenty of power for most situations. And this radio's improved circuit board includes built-in noise suppression, which ensures your sweet music will be crisp and clear.
More power to you
Want to add some serious power to your RetroSound receiver? The Quad4 amplifier delivers 45 watts RMS by four channels to your speakers without taking up a lot of space. The super-compact amp plugs into your radio's harness and, in most cases, can be powered from your fusebox, so you'll save a lot of time and effort on the installation. RetroSound also makes low-profile car speakers that fit into a wide range of older cars and trucks, so you can be sure that your sound system will do justice to your vintage vehicle.
This radio does not play CDs.

Installation & Display Features
1.5-DIN Compatible: The RetroSound Newport (M1A) is a direct-fit solution for GM, Chrysler, Ford and Jeep vehicles with 1.5 DIN dash openings. The Newport (M1A) closely mimics the original radio for an attractive factory-like look.
LCD Display: The RetroSound Newport features an LCD with a digital read-out.The unit's LCD offers an ultra-wide, off-axis viewing angle and is daylight compatible. The LCD will display clock and tuner information. The color illumination of the LCD is white (fixed).
AM/FM Radio & + Aux Input
RDS AM/FM Tuner: The Retrosound head unit features a built-in RDS AM/FM tuner. The unit's tuner features 3 FM bands and 2 AM bands. A total of 30 AM/FM presets can be stored manually or automatically. Select between Local and Distant settings can aid in listening to weak FM radio stations or compensate for stations that have too strong of a signal. This unit's tuner can be set to USA or European tuning.
Auxiliary Input: The in-dash receiver features a 3.5mm auxiliary input connected to the rear chassis by a 7" pigtail. The Aux input provides a connection for a portable external audio source, such as a MP3 player or CD player.

It worked out perfectly and was exactly what I was after. It looks like it belongs in a 1988 vehicle. Putting it together was a little daunting, but it went together as it should.
